doubles as space marine armor
I don't do much track time, but I'm a huge baby when it comes to hurting my hands so I wear these mostly for street use. It's possibly one of the most overbuilt gloves I've ever seen (second to the Handroid), but it's really not uncomfortable despite all the protection you get. The leather (11% cow, 85% goat) is beautifully soft and conforms to the hand extremely well, assisted by a separate accordion stretch and nylon stretch panel - which, notably, is the only textile area besides the concealed knuckle vents - above the thumb knuckle. The wrist has a single thread zig-zag stitch to lightly secure your wrist, and is bolstered by a velcro strap and the BOA ratchet lock. Contrary to what Anthony said (I think), the velcro strap can and should be tucked beneath the wrist armor, where you can also fold and tuck excess leather from the wrist portion of the glove. If the velcro strap is overtighted, the metal loop can be a bit irritating since it'll get pushed into your wrist - so, don't overtighten it. Easy solutions. The BOA ratchet is crazy weird and I'm not entirely sure how I feel about it. It works extremely well and is very smooth, and the unit itself doesn't FEEL fragile.. but I can't help but wonder how the twist dial would sustain an impact. If a single hit requires a full glove replacement, that would be pretty terrible - but, Knox also provides a registered lifetime warranty on the BOA lacing system, so maybe it's a non-issue. Pre-curve fingers and excellent all-around fit, this glove is honestly the most comfortable thing I've ever worn.

As for the knuckles, don't expect a hard armor knuckle. It's an impact absorbing layer system, which is surprisingly flexible and doesn't detract from dexterity. Three vent holes (technically six but whatever) provide adequate air flow, and the rear of the knuckle protector is not actually sewn down to the glove, meaning it will lift and pivot to stay over your knuckle (and also, not trap heat at the back of your hand).

The wrist protector looks pretty bulky at first, but if you have a thick wrist/forearm/etc, you really won't notice them past putting them on since they curve around the wrist very well. The leading edge of the protector does not get in the way of any lateral hand rotation, either, thought the trailing edge might push on your forearm a tiny bit - nothing worth noting or even complaining about, certainly not with a jacket on.

The individual fingers have plastic sliders or impact absorbers on them - I don't know how useful they'll be, but I imagine it's better than nothing. They also contain vent holes to compliment the breathable nylon backing to the split knuckle. The pinky is the only finger not ventilated - the thumb and tip of the ring finger are perforated leather.

The index finger has a touch screen compatible tip on it, and inside it tapers down to a very thin layer at the tip of the finger to provide dexterity and ease of use for a phone. Honestly, I would have preferred to see this on the thumb, either as an alternative or in conjunction. I don't think that patch will hold up if you slide too hard on it, and being on the index finger leaves it somewhat more vulnerable.

The scaphoid sliders are super weird, but in a good way. The fit of the glove is such that the sliders are always exactly where they need to be, ready to take the brunt of the hit should the worst come. The sliders are separate units and secured at the base, so they don't interfere with the fit or form of the glove - no awkward pinches, stretches, etc. I might have liked to see the outer slider extend further up the palm, and possibly a third slider along the pinky metacarpal - nothing too crazy, but I believe the Handroid does in fact have one of these. Regardless, scaphoid protectors can be hard to find in a decent looking glove, so I'm thankful for them.

And, as far as style: yeah, it's a motorcycle glove and makes no apologies for it. If you want to look like Ryan Gosling in Drive, keep searching. Personally, I got the black version. It looks at home on a bike, but probably would get a few looks in the grocery store. Take them off when you get off the bike, stuff them in your helmet, nobody cares.. but then, I also like 40k and Starcraft, so this jives well with me.

In future revisions, I'd love to see a split knuckle and touch screen patch on the thumb, as well as the slider on the metacarpal, and maybe a few perforations along the pinky and the leather patch after the knuckle but before the fingers. A textile stretch panel in the leather after the velcro strap might help keep costs down, while also keeping excess leather from bunching up and needing to be folded. More color variations would also be nice - coffee brown, and the like.

seriously though this glove is nuts, and if you're whiny about protecting your hands like I am, get it. Price is steep and is higher than some people's helmets, but so is wrist surgery.

Not for long thumbs, but you can't beat the palm sliders
Apparently, I have freakishly long thumbs. It was worse on the left than on the right, but I knew right away these gloves weren't going to work for me because the portion between thumb & index finger ("web") was simply too tight. I'm still giving these gloves 4 stars overall, because they do have some wonderful features and seem to be well-made, despite the strange fit. I could not find another glove anywhere with such a good palm slider setup, so it's a shame I can't wear them & had to return them.

So Why Only 1 Star?
I just did 2,000 miles in these over 8 days in temps ranging from the low 60s F to the upper 90s F. These are extremely comfortable and fit exceptionally well after a brief break-in period. They aren't nearly as well built as my old Biomechs, which I did probably did about 15,000 miles in. (I never went down in them. Knox on wood.) The stitching is already (very minorly) fraying in some spots on these Nexos. But my biggest gripe and why I gave them 1 star is that the touch screen material on the tips of the pointer fingers is super chintzy and actually dangerous. First, the design hardly works on my phone. Second, even the somewhat better material on the tip of the pointer finger of my left glove on the Biomechs wore out the fastest -- this is my clutch finger, and that's why I replaced the Biomechs. Duh! Why would you do this to an awesome pair of gloves? You put the weakest material possible on the highest wear area of the glove, sans a crash. It's already wearing out... If someone slides in these gloves, and they slide on the tips of their pointer fingers, I almost guarantee they're going to lose some meat.

Dudes, what were you thinking?

For the price point and protection. Fits great and is more practical then riding around in a pair of race gloves.

It seems to be the best mid range motorcycle glove. I like the Handroid, but it is expensive, and seems like a bit overkill for someone who doesn't plan on doing any racing or track riding. Plus there's something about this glove that just really appeals to me.
