Knox Handroid V14 Gloves

The Knox Handroid Gloves exoskeletal flexible finger spines cover the knuckles, fingers and thumb and give full unrestricted movement. The spines link to a comfortable gel-lined metapod that covers the back of the hand. On the palm, the patented Scaphoid Protection System (SPS), is enhanced by additional sliding systems on all sides which ensure that in the event of an accident the majority of contact with the ground is with the SPS and not leather. An additional inner cuff slider works to support and enhance the SPS sliding effect. Super strong and tear resistant Kangaroo leather covers the inside palm and fingers.

The Handroid Motorcycle Gloves utilize a technical Knox BOA lacing system that allows precision adjustment around the whole cuff. The wrist system tightens equally from all sides, just dial in the right torque for you. To release, simply pull the dial. Putting gloves on and off has never been smarter or easier.

Features:

  • Knox Handroid flexible exoskeleton finger and knuckle sliders on all fingers and thumb
  • Knox gel metapod that covers the back of the hand
  • Dual Compound Sport Scaphoid protection system on the palm
  • Wrist slider
  • Cuff slider
  • Dialed-in BOA closure system at the wrist
  • Kangaroo leather palm
  • Amara grip pad with silicon print for improved control

Saved my hands
Just layed my bike over earlier today and slid about 30-40 feet. Let me say that these gloves absolutely soaked up everything that road had to throw at it. Sliders took a beating and are definitely still good for another slide should it happen. The wrist protection definitely did its job, kangaroo leather did its job, and the sliders absorbed the impact and took it like a boss.

Fitment wise, it depends on your hand I suppose. I usually wear a medium, but decided to switch up to a large on these. The palm is just a little loose, but still fits great. The downside would be that the fingers are oddly shaped. My middle finger almost always it pressed against the end of the glove, and feels like it's gonna rip through the other side it's so tight. However my thumb ALWAYS had a ton of extra space and it makes it a pain to use the turn signal or anything without it feeling, or lack thereof, extremely vague.

This glove actually breathes surprisingly well. Cool in the summer, and borderline comfortable until about 50 degrees. After that it gets pretty nippy.

I love the wrist strap and the locking ratchet wheel on the wrist protection. One thing that does bug ME in particular, which could be completely irrelevant to others, is that I always have to take a watch off if I want to wear these gloves. It's just too tight. That's absolutely nitpicking though.

I love these gloves, they're absolutely incredible and super durable. They took a beating today and are begging for more. They are a bit pricey, but the quality is top notch. You definitely get what you pay for.

Love my Handroids!
These are awesome gloves for protection. Note, they are very tough and thus the break-in period is longer than you'll like, but you get what you want: VERY protected hands.

Yes, you will get people asking you if your gloves are part of Ironman's armor. Yes, people will want to touch them and try them on, as they will be amazed at how they look and feel.

They have good airflow, but they are still warm enough for our winters (30 to 40 degree F range).

YES, they are expensive, but I like my hands undamaged and so they are totally worth it.

Note, they are tight, so measure your hands carefully. If you err and get ones that are too small, you will not get your hands in them.

Lastly, yes, you will feel like a superhero with them on. Personally, I've already admitted that's why I really wanted them. (honesty is the best policy)

Awesome concept, still needs fine tuning...
This is a 5-7-16 review unlike reviews I've seen from 2012 when the first few batches were released and having issues.

1st. Shipping: Ordered on a Tuesday showed up Friday and I live in southern Oregon. Super fast A+

FITMENT: My hand measured an 8 to 8.5 throughout the palm so according to the size chart I fall between a SM or MD. According to other reviews they run small so they say go a size up. I ended up ordering a LRG and I'm glad I did because they fit tight. Obviously they fit tight initially because they needed broken in and they are leather. For comparison I've owned a pair of short cuff Dainese Scythe gloves in size medium and they fit PERFECT zero complaints I just wish there was a full cuff version I wouldn't have bought these...

After two days of hard riding some areas of discomfort remained.
1. The middle strap wrist closer dug into my wrist bone to the point where I had to leave it unstrapped.
2. *disclaimer* this might have to do with everyone's hand configuration being different. but my left pinky got rubbed hella raw because of the hard plastic piece on top and the length was too short and jamming the end really hard.
3. Webbing on left hand between my middle and index finger the stitching dug in hard between the knuckle.

In general the glove fit weird and wasn't very flexible the cool moving hard parts don't limit movement as much as the plastic pieces they use to anchor them to the glove make the glove blocky. The slider on the pinky if you make a tight fist will pop out of the sliding grove and wont retract back not allowing my to uncurl my pinky finger. *KNOX IMPROVE ON THIS!!!* make the pinky slider cord thing 1/4 of an inch longer... Also I'm not sure if this is because they are meant to be like this but it feels almost like there isn't enough material on the palm in between the index finger and the thumb for the glove to feel seated in you palm. And unless I was death gripping the bars pushing that area of palm material down all the way was the only way my thumb would seat properly all the way in the thumb box. 1/2 the time id go for my controls and have floppy thumb, other times id get lucky and my thumb was fully at the end of the thumb pocket and I could feel the controls perfectly. Glove fits 'weird'.

Pros: The boa system is AMAZING!!!! super super easy to take on and off with gloves on. I wish every glove was like this. The flex zone in the wrist is very "free" feeling which I like a lot of mobility there. I live in a cold area on the coast line so the lack of perf was a selling point for me. They cover your jacket very well.

Overall: I can't recommend these gloves sadly. I didn't feel safe riding my bike because the mobility of these gloves hindered my ability to grip the handle bars and operate the controls properly. This is still even after two days of hard knee dragging canyon riding. I was still left feeling unsatisfied by the restricted hand articulation and the funny little spots that hurt my hand.

No Better Glove!!
First, yes this gloves makes you look a little like some kind of Robo Cop or post apocalyptic road warrior. So low on styling for sure. But outside of that, this is by far the best glove I’ve ever owned. The wrist sliders look bulky but when you have the gloves on you don’t notice it. What you will notice is the connection you feel to the grips. The Kangaroo in the palm is so soft that once I have it dialed in I don’t notice the gloves while riding on track or street. Dialing the glove is the the coolest and best feature of this glove. The Boa system is not only the best and only full wrist protection I’ve seen on the market but when secure the system to your hand there’s not way the glove comes off and it doesn’t inhibit your movement at all. I’ve crashed twice on track in these gloves and still use it for the street. I bought a second pair for track and will only ride KNOX.

Feel VERY Protected
So I am of the belief that one of the most expensive pieces of gear you should buy, is the gloves. We all know someone who came off their bike, and broke their wrist or their gloves came open and they had rash for weeks. Cheap gloves come apart at the seams, or burn through immediately.

I can honestly say that I did a few hours of research online before I found the perfect glove (I think anyway) for street riding.

Sizing: I wear an XL in Fox Bomber gloves, so I ordered XL in these and they fit like the Bombers.. Only complaint is maybe the thumbs are stitched a little long..maybe i have stumpy thumbs.

Protection: Great googly moogly I feel so much better riding the street in these than my previous gloves. The plastic armor on the wrists, as well as the SPS Sliders on the palm make me feel that with these; I stand the best chance to walk away ok.

Feel: The kangaroo definitely works. The first 3 or 4 rides I swore i got too small of a size, but after reading reviews online about how they break in after awhile i stuck with them--glad i did, they fit great now

I marked down in bang for buck just because for $270 they should make me breakfast. It's nothing against the glove they are perfect for their price.

I marked down in style because, while functional, they make you look like you should be riding harder than you are..on your way to fight crime..at all times..

Buy these, you may regret how much you spent, but if you ever go down I think you'll be glad you did.

Excellent Gloves!
I honestly don't understand the point behind the plastic borg-like tendrils, but they don't get in the way so I'm good with them. The kangaroo palm is great and there are sliders in all the right places. I dunked these gloves in hot water and went on a ride and they responded perfectly by expanding and forming to my hand. Before doing so they were small in some places and large in others, so don't be afraid to do the same.

Best pair of gloves I have ever owned.
I have owned many styles of full race gloves this is my second pair of knoxs handroid gloves. The level of protection is second to none vs the price. I rode these gloves on the street and track for over three years in the rain and snow needless to say they lasted the test of time. They are so good I even bought my girl friend a set for her nothing but the best will do. All the other gloves I have worn didnt even last a year like the Alpinestar GP Plus R gloves and others simular to it would have already had holes in them after the first year and dont even have half the protection built in them. Only when the BOA lacing cord broke did I deside it time for new gloves. The old gloves did not even have any holes or rips in them and are still useable if you tape the wriste strap to your hand and secure the BOA. As compared to any other glove at the same price point Knox bets them all hands down the quality of leather hand and wriste siders will save you big in a crash. Ive seen guys lose fingers because the gloves they had on in a crash did not measure up to Knox at the same price point any other glove just does not come close just look at the Alpinestar GP glove or anyother race glove you can see it for yourself like i said before I have seen guys lose fingers wearing the other gloves do yourself a favor and choose knox for the street and track.

Best. Gloves. Ever.
I can't say enough about how amazing these gloves are. They fit great (I did the proper measurement of my hand...as anyone should..), look great and I feel super-protected while wearing these. The BOA closure system is top-notch and the kangaroo leather on the palm is ever-so-soft and comfy. Great buy and if I ever replace these, it'll be with another pair of Handroids.

Awesome protection, start tight but break in great
Purchased to replace the super-thin leather gloves I'd been commuting in after reading up a bit on what can happen to your hands in a crash/slide.

After doing my homework, I was dead set on gloves with full-gauntlet protection and palm sliders, and although I wasn't super keen on the bionic styling, I pulled the trigger on these for the protection and great reviews. One of the main factors in my choice, based on reviews, was their build-quality and durability, something which seemed lacking in a lot of other high-end gloves (e.g. Dainese/Alpinestars, though Held seems well-regarded).

I measured my hand and ended up with a medium. They were definitely very snug to start with - to the point of clutch/braking a bit tricky for the first day or two. I held in there (having learned of the tight fit from forum posts/other reviews) and they've indeed broken in nicely and are very comfortable and flexible after ~3 weeks of daily wear, (~1 hr a day). It seems like there's more break-in remaining so they should only get better.

Regarding styling, in person they are less gundam-like then a lot of the pictures appear, at least in the black-on-black color scheme that I went with, so I wouldn't be too concerned about it.

Overall super happy with them, and feel much better about my hands coming out ok if/when I go down.

Great glove - not that durable - horrible Knox support
The gloves fit excellent and provide great protection. These are my favorite track gloves in terms of fitment and function. However, the cuff design is not that durable, and a relatively small crash can effectively destroy the BOA lace system. The manufacturer, Knox, is probably the worst in the industry in terms of being able to contact them. My attempts to contact them via phone, email, web form, and twitter have been completely unsuccessful. I just wanted to find out of there was any repair service available. I will not purchase any further Knox products as a result of their utter failure to provide any response to customers.
