The patented Flare motorcycle windshield was developed at Klock Werks out of a need for greater front-end stability in order to safely race at high speeds on the Bonneville Salt Flats. The Flare is the original motorcycle windshield of its kind, and has surprised riders everywhere with its great looks and performance. In fact, its superior performance has made Klock Werks a leader in the air-management field. The innovative, patented design features "hips" on the outer edges that route wind away from the rider while creating additional downforce on the front end of the motorcycle. This results in a significant improvement in wind deflection and front end stability at highway speeds as opposed to a stock type windshield. 2016 Street Glide: Excellent shield, different ride altogether
So after trying the HD Windsplitter shields (7/10). The 7 lifted the wind so that instead of hitting me in the chin, it hit me at the top of the helmet. The 10 nearly eliminated wind buffet, but it seemed huge to me, it stuck out from the edges of the fairing and just didn't look "finished". If I wanted a huge clear shield I would have bought a Road King.

I ordered the 6.5 smoke from Revzilla. It's a great fit and way better (to me) than the wind splitters. I think a few things make this work better a) Different shape, it's got a more pronounced flip and deeper shoulders than the wind splitters b) an in between size; slightly taller than the 7 and shorter than the 10.

FYI; if you measure this from the center bolt, it's about 8.5 inches tall to the top of the flip. It's 6.5 inch from the center bolt to the bottom of the flip. I thought at first that Revzilla sent me the 8.5 inch by mistake, but it's how Klock Werks measures the shield. Be prepared, the 6.5 may "look" taller than you expect, but still looks awesome. Anyway, the size is just right for me. I can easily see over it, no need to look through it at all. It funnels the wind/buffeting above me. I get just enough wind to know I'm still riding a Harley but it's a completely different ride. No more head judder. Absolutely love this shield.

Looks great, works great, good quality and a fair price.

Bye the way; 6'0 tall, riding a standard 2016 Street Glide Special, stock seat and bars.

6.5" WS, Really Good Product

I have had my Klock Werks 6.5" for about two weeks now and I am completely satisfied with it. I have been riding every day through sun, heavy wind, and monsoon rains. So, I would say that I have given it a pretty good bit of testing.

The wind is much more calm around my head compared to the stock shield, although I can still feel a bit of a buffet on top of my head. Just today I took off with my baseball cap on, with the bill faced forward, and my hat didn't even budge until I hit around 70 MPH. Of course all wind gusts that come from the side hit you just the same. Also my passenger says that she doesn't really notice any difference.

Other than less wind I also noticed the downforce that they advertise is very noticeable. At first it kinda messed with me, but I adjusted to it pretty quick. Basically it makes the front tire feel a little "heavier" while cornering at 45 MPH and faster. It also holds the fairing straight and everything feels more solid all around. Big plus in my book.

Now I have nothing but good to say about this product, but don't think it is all sunshine and rainbows. It is of course a motorcycle, and even though this wind shield mitigates quite a bit, you will still have wind in your hair and ears.

As an added note, anything over 90 MPH is windy/buffety no matter what wind shield you have, and this is no exception.

5" Klockwerks Flare windshield. I'm 5'7" if you're like me and still like to look over the shield, this was perfect for me but still kicks the wind over. Clean up to 90. Tested last night for about 400 miles.

It Werks!
Purchased this for my 2016 Street Glide Special to reduce buffeting at speeds 60+ mph that I was getting. The difference is night and day compared to the factory Harley wind screen. A little pricey, but worth it!

I ordered the 5" and I still look over the windscreen, but the flare really helps with the wind! I ordered the tinted and it looks the same shade as the factory Harley.

I am 5'10" tall, the bike has factory seat and height just for reference.

P.S. - Hey, Revzilla, I ride a Harley, not a Can Am Spyder that shows up underneath here! That is the wife's bike!

Great windshield, looks even better.
I am 6'2" tall, with a 34 inch inseam. I went with a 61/2 windshield, still get a little buffering at the top of the helmet, at 70mph. But nothing too bad.not bad enough where I would have gone with the 8 1/2. Worth the money, also put on fork wind deflectors to help out with the buffering. It's almost all gone.

The package arrived today, and I had it on in 5 minutes. It's curves match the batwing curves, like it belongs there to begin with. I just got back from a 30 mile ride with it, and it was really, really nice in all speed ranges. The wind noise across my ears is greatly reduced, and as people are saying, I could hear my music without blasting it. Such a simple thing with such a huge improvement. Awesome!

2016 Street Glide Special
Just tested my new 8 1/2 inch windshield. The packaging was good and protected the windshield well during shipping. The install was very simple. If you can't put this on, trade in your bike.

Pros:
I'm 6 foot and was fighting a lot of head bobble with the factory windshield. With the new one, I really did not notice much if any at all. We are ridding after all, so you will get a little. That is part of the attraction; wind in your face.

I tested the windshield up to 80 mph. It worked as advertised. The down pressure caused by the hips and flip does change the handling of the bike some at high speeds. I have not rode it long enough to say if this is a pro or con. It certainly did not make the bike unstable or anything like that.

I think the look from the front of the bike is great. It really flows with the lines of the batwing.

At six foot with a stock seat, the windshield does NOT bifocal my vision. It does sit higher than you might expect, but my line of sight is clear.

Cons:
The look from the cockpit is not the best. Looking through the windshield, the road and cars in front of you are distorted, unless you really lean down and look straight through it. The truth is, you really don't look through it anyway, but you can notice the distortion. The way the hips are bent causes the distortion. I did not find it distracting really, just odd.

The top edge of the 8 1/2 does vibrate more than I would like. I did find that a little distracting. I think I will get over that.

The vent on your batwing MUST stay open. If you close it, you much more turbulence and worse, you get that popping sound like when the back window of the car is down and all the other windows are up. That was very irritating. I ride with it open anyway, and I'm sure it won't be that big of a deal on the few occasions that I need it closed, rain etc.

The look from the saddle is a bit old manish. I know that is not a word, but that is the best way to describe it. It is not near as bad as an 11 inch clear straight window, but...

Overall:

I tried the Harley 7 inch windsplitter first. It only worked up till about 65 mph. If your fighting head bobble, and are 6 foot or shorter, I would recommend this windshield. I think the pros outweigh the cons.

Installed in 5 min this morning before work on my 2014 Street Glide. I'm 5'10" and got the 6.5" smoke. Its a night and day difference from the stock one. I can see right over the top, no vision issues. Its quieter, and I can ride at 70 without my sunglasses moving. No bobblehead at all. Worth every penny.

should've been put on at the factory.
After first ride I knew the factory shield wasn't gonna cut it....the buffeting in my ear was obnoxious. Ordered up the 6.5" klock werx and had a few days later. It took all the buffeting away and I can hear the radio much better. I'm 6'1" and the 6.5" is plenty tall enough. This is the shield HD shouldve installed at the factory, far superior looks and function than the factory shield........well worth the money!!
