Klock Werks Flare Windshield For Harley Touring

The patented Flare motorcycle windshield was developed at Klock Werks out of a need for greater front-end stability in order to safely race at high speeds on the Bonneville Salt Flats. The Flare is the original motorcycle windshield of its kind, and has surprised riders everywhere with not only how great it looks, but also with how well it performs. In fact, its superior performance has made Klock Werks a leader in the air-management field. The innovative patented design features "hips" on the outer edges that route wind away from the rider while creating additional downforce on the front end of the motorcycle. This results in a significant improvement in wind deflection and front end stability at highway speeds as opposed to a stock type windshield. The "flip" at the top of the Flare is designed to reduce buffeting by kicking the wind up and allowing it to flow back as "clean", less turbulent air for the rider. Don't be fooled by imitations! The patented design and the highest quality materials are what make the Klock Werks Flare windshield the best in its class.

Features:

  • The 6.5" was the first height created for batwing-style fairings and works great for average height riders
  • Wind tunnel designed and tested, the “hips” provide added downforce while the “flip” directs air over the rider
  • Lexan Polycarbonate with FMR hard coating is used to create these custom-molded designs with unmatched durability
  • Pre-drilled for easy mounting using stock windshield hardware
  • The Flare windshields are measured from the center bolt hole to the start of the 'flip' at the top of the windshield
  • Made in the USA

Fitment Notes & Exceptions

  • The Klock Werks Flare windshield will not work in conjunction with the windshield rubber trim that comes factory on 2011 Road Glide CVO models - it will fit properly on these models with the rubber trim removed
  • The 6.5" is not compatible with 3-pouch windshield bags

10 years and still going
I bought a Klock Werks in the 6.5" smoke for my 2006 HD Street Glide, a few months after I bought my bike (it was bought new). I am 6'2" with a long torso, and I was experiencing crazy head buffeting on the stock windshield, ending up with a headache on any ride over a few miles in length. This completely solved the problem. Now in 2017, I still have the same windshield and it still looks great, minus a few rock dings here and there. I highly recommend it for any street glide owner.

Flare
The 8.5" Klock Werks flare has made my '13 Street Glide way more comfortable to ride at highway speeds. I'm 6'2" and the stock shield produced a lot of turbulence. Also my windshield bags work perfectly with the 8.5" flare.

This items was suggested to me by several close friends who ride. They have selected this item and noticed significantly less wind as they ride, even with a slightly shorter windshield.

I do a lot of high end speed running on a Harley turbo bike.. These shields help greatly with front end at speeds 110 and up... On trips and touring and city use I think a regular windshield is better as far as the light turbulence's these Harley batwing's produce.. But over 85 you can actually feel the shields effects and designs taking over and it makes for a really better event when drag racing.. Or street racing or just going too fast. It literally pushes the front end down a bit

I have the 6.5 inch flare shield and I really like it, but it lets a little too much wind hitting me, the air is clean, and there is no more head buffing but I just want to see what the 8.5 can do...
Stephen D. C on Feb 14, 2015
I replaced stock windshield on my 2008 Ultra Classic with a 6.5 inch KlokWerks. Been using it for over a year. Love it. I'm getting the 8.5 inch to provide a little more protection during winter riding in rain/cold air. I'll probably switch back to the 6.5 during the summer.

I chose this product because of how it works its a little taller than the original it looks like the best on the market after checking them all out thanks for all the info

I ride a 13 Ultra Limited and am 5"10". I like the looks of the 6.5, but I'm wondering if the 8.5 would work better for my height?

What is the stock height of a windshield on 2013 SG ?
A shopper on May 5, 2015
I have a 2010 Ultra Limited. Will the Klockworks windshields not only direct the wind over and around the driver but will it also do this for the rider? If yes what height do you recommend? We currently have an 8.5" standard windshield.
A shopper on Mar 29, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I love my Klock Werks flare windshield for my 2008 Ultra Classic! When I bought my bike 2 years ago I immediately replaced the stock windshield with a shorter 6.5 inch Klock Werks Flare. It provided less buffeting than the stock windshield and my wife (rider) also loved the smoother ride. The buffeting zone was actually higher (just above my helmet) with the Klock Werks). I ride year round in all weather conditions and was very happy with the protection it provided. January of 2015 I decided to try the 8.5 inch Klock Werks Flare. The 8.5 Flare provides a little more protection during heavy rainfall and seemed to help more during my commutes in temps below 35° F. They are quick and easy to install. My plan is to use the 6.5 inch during summer and the 8.5 inch during the winter/rainy seasons.
does 2013 fit 2014 streetglide?
A shopper on Jun 16, 2014
BEST ANSWER: no. not the same fair n
I am looking at the 3.5" flare windshield for my 2009 Street Glide. My current windshield is 6.5". I am using the T-Bags 3 pouch windshield bag, I just bought it last month. The T-bags page on this website says it only works with windshields 4" and taller, and the Klockwerks Q&A says the 6.5" flare windshield is not compatible with 3 pouch windshield bags. It also says here that the flare windshield is measured from the center bolt to the start of the flip.
So, my question is, will my T-bags work with the 3.5" flare windshield? (is it actually 4" if measured to the top and not the start of the flip?)
I don't see any other option for getting a shorter windshield.
Thanks, Greg

I ride a 13 Ultra Limited and am 5'10'. I like the look of the 6.5" klock Werks windshield, but wondering if the 8.5" would work better for my height?
A shopper on Feb 19, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I need a little more info before I effectively answer your question.
What type riding do you do?
Do you ride one or two up?
I am 6'1. I just purchased the II.5. I have been riding with the 8.5. I went to the taller winshield primarily for my wife. I ride two-up 99% of the time. The 8.5" worked really well. However, her complaint, particularly in colder weather, the air would hit right in the face, but go pretty much over me. I can't comment on the 6.5" other than I like the look as well. I must also mention, most of riding is touring, anywhere from a 150 mile day trip to an 800 mile week end trip. Also, the Klock Werks adds additional down force on the front end of the bike, which in my opinion is a HUGE plus. For example the air blast from a big rig is practically un-noticeable. High speed stability is improved, not that is UN-stable. We're talking Harley Davidson Ultra, the best touring bike on the market. By the way, we ride a 2010 Ultra Classic with 27,000 miles. Hope this helps.
