It really is worth it.
I wanted to take my time with this review. I feel that for an investment of this much requires more thought and care about describing this jacket.

In a nutshell, it is worth it. Although the jacket itself is expensive, you would end up spending the same amount of money on several other jackets, that each one does only one thing well. This jacket does it all. The key here is that this jacket does all of what you need itself. Fantastic fit, with the capacity to tweak the fit for very precise measurements. The material is very durable, with even tougher materials at the elbows, shoulders, etc. More body amour than any other jacket. Better ventilation than anything else, and of course, the high visibility of reflectors and colors. The ventilation process is better than any other, with twice as many vents both in and out. It will take some time to put this jacket on, to tweak each setting, but it can be used virtually all year around. That's where the savings comes in. One jacket that does it all.

Best in class
I'm absolutely impressed with this jacket. I had some issues with the sleeves being a little long (5'10", 175 lbs, athletic, bought a medium) but as long as you use the cinches and adjustments, the armor is right where it needs to be and won't roll off. Plus, it makes a nice big shell that allows for airflow when it's warm, and layering when it's cold. The internal belt does wonders for posture and support. Riding year round in the Pacific Northwest and I couldn't ask for anything better in terms of covering every riding scenario from daily commuting to off road adventuring. The more I ride in this jacket, the more I appreciate it.

Was worth the wait!
I've worn many brands of bike gear - from Olympia to two sets of Revit (Cayenne Pro & Defender). I ride about 20,000 kms each year and expect my gear to hold up. I liked the style of the Revit gear but the first set leaked badly, and then bought the Defender as it was Goretex. If it has the stamp of approval from Gore then why the heck did it come with a rain liner? Oh well. I ran it for a few years and was always dry. It was a comfortable set up but you couldn't afford to have that double cheese burger as you wouldn't be fitting your pants the next morning.

Bring on Klim... 4 of my friends had the original Badlands Pro and raved about it. I heard they were redesigning the 2015 version and decided I would treat myself to new gear if the reviews were good. Sure enough... I now own a new HI-Viz set up on the 2015 Badlands and couldn't be happier.

Much more roomy than the Rev-it - but that's American styling vs. European. No complaints there - though I sometimes wonder if I could have gotten away with a Medium jacket instead of the Large. (5'10, 185, 44" chest, 32/33/34" waist) - in shape 7-8 months of the year :). I guess it was because I was wearing only a t shirt for most of the ride. Once spring/fall comes i'll welcome the extra room for a second and third layer. I like the new collar stay and it works well. I just used the setup in 107F weather in Oregon a week ago and it flowed a ton of air - as much as you can flow at 107F. No complaints there. I did find the left side kidney belt/velcro gut strap kept falling into the rear of the jacket. Was sort of solved by putting the right arm through first instead of the left. Weird I know.

Pants are good and also flow air well. Spot on for leg length too. Some complain Klim pants aren't long enough. I have a 32" inseam and wear Sidi Gores and there's no flooding where I walk ;). They fit perfectly. I love the fact I can cinch up the pants above and below the knee. Makes a big difference to keeping the armour where it belongs. I did find the pants wanted to fall down a bit - but a set of Klim suspenders solved that issue.

I'm a Klim customer for life :)

Awesome jacket - definitely worth the price
After many years riding in Florida, I was looking for a waterproof yet not-too-hot jacket, with all the protection "bells and whistles" as well as hi-viz, to handle unpredictable conditions (yup, that includes unpredictable drivers). It was soon obvious the Klim Badlands jacket was the way to go, but due to the steep price I made up all kinds of excuses not to pull the trigger. Till I finally did, and confirmed that the product fully delivers as promised re: fit, features, quality, and performance. Couldn't be happier! Same goes for the gang at Revzilla, great service starting with their advice over the phone to their return policy to their fast shipping... outstanding job folks!

Great Jacket!
I bought this jacket after seeing the ZLA video and reading customer reviews for the Badlands Pro (the previous version). It seems that Klim has modified and upgraded everything that people took issues with. I wore it on an off-road trip that included 3 "get-offs" and it saved my bacon big time. It was reasonably comfortable in 95 degree weather and dried quickly. The armor stays in place.

Klim does it again!!
I've worn this jacket in 95 degree weather and with all the vents open it does a pretty good job keeping you cool... We'll.. As cool as you can be at 95. The gore text is my favorite part and can honestly say it will keep you 100% dry even in the most torrential rain falls. Gladly I can't say much about how the armour works but it stays in place and is very comfortable. I have the badlands pants as we'll and and the same goes for them. Klim hit it out of the park and this suit is well worth the investment

Worth the investment for better protection
As a female, I get ticked at Klim and other manufacturers with their ladies offerings for riding gear in regards to adventure riding. They use thinner materials and lower grade armor than with the men's. So I bought a mens jacket instead.

I am a chunky 5'4" tall, 195lbs with hips. I found the sleeves predictably a little long, but with the velcro strap on the forearm, plus cinching down the wrist cuffs around my gloves, it wasn't too much of an issue. My hips did fit snugly, the kidney belt helped. The collar can still be bothersome, but most times I had it snapped back. If not, I used an Oxford cooling neck tube as a barrier between the collar and my neck.

I tried using only a 1 liter hydration pack, and it worked, but I tired of the bulk and weight, so I returned my waterpack to my tank panniers. I broke the jacket in on a 4,300 mile road trip, completed in 16 days. Unbelievably, nothing more than a couple of quick rain showers from Iowa to British Columbia and Alberta, then back again! Really fortunate on weather, so I can't comment on waterproofness, but I am sure it will be fine. Was still a little warm when the temps reached 90+F, but a small price to pay to help prevent becoming Road Pizza if you should go down. As my trip was on road only, the only time I used the armor padding is when I stalled at a stopsign and toppled over. *doh!* The elbows made out ok, as did my GS. So glad I mortgaged the house to buy this jacket before my trip (just kidding). Pay for quality that will last, how can you go wrong?

Wonderful in all weather
Admittedly, I asked around Arizona to see what people wore. Cold weather is easy; just add layers. Warm weather is harder. Based on the feedback I got, I picked up this jacket (and pants, but that's a different review).

So far, I've ridden in everything from snow (spring in Chicago can mean that a forecasted 45 degree day turns bad) to 95 and muggy. This jacket held up to all of them. There's anough venting to keep you cool, even in the nastiest heat, above 15 mph. One trick is to take off any fairing around the grips so that you get more air flow down the sleeves.

The pockets are plentiful and waterproof. I don't buy that the zippers are easy to work with gloves on, especially on the move. But that's a minor nit.

The jacket feels substantial. Yes, it's heavy, but it fits well and doesn't *feel* heavy on the bike. And I love the buttons that hold open the neckline, so you don't get any vibrations fluttering the collar against your neck.

If your are considering it, BUY IT!
Top quality construction. The point of this jacket is a protective waterproof shell, which it does wonderfully. Anyone who b#$%^@s about it being too big is not understanding the intent of the product. Buy the size you usually need. In the summer a t shirt feels great underneath it. In the winter you have room for a heated liner and a 100 weight fleece. Lots of room in the waterproof pockets. Air flow is very good if you aren't on a bike with extreme wind protection. I wear a size L, 6' tall and 195 pounds. This jacket really is the best of the best.

This was a simply choice, with years of trail, enduro and ADV riding KLIM has climbed to the top of my must have gear. I choose their kits above my BMW Rallye 3 their element protection is the best. The fact you don't have to deal with zip in liners or any additional purchases to secure waterproofing it's a no brainer.

I had a long comparison list between this jacket and the Klim Latitude. In short, if you plan on any off road riding get this jacket. I could have got the Latitude, but Anthony says it is more for the street. If you have 5 to 10 low speed crashes with the Latitude you may have to replace it.

After a recent accident, I'm switching to hi-vis gear. I tried this on in a store (they didn't have the hi-vis version) and it felt like armor, it's clear that it's a whole other level of protection beyond a (even a high quality) leather jacket.

What is the warmest weather this jacket is bearable in? Good for the summers in North Carolina?
Zooka on Jun 11, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I wore it in 95 degree weather (California-not much humidity). I had all the vents opened and as long as I was moving, I was comfortable. I could feel the air circulating from the front to the back. Any perspiration seemed to increase the cooling as a result of air flow and evaporation. It works as "advertised."
I'm A big guy
300 lbs. any suggestion ?
A shopper on Mar 24, 2017
BEST ANSWER: For future reference, I'm morbidly obese at 266 pounds and only 6'2" but found to my surprise the Badlands XL fit me very comfortably (having had trouble with other jackets at 4XL this was a surprise - sites how accurate that labels are).

Incidentally, the armour exceeds CE2, at least for the version I bought in the UK.
I see the sizing chart is identical to the latitude jacket. Does anyone know if the badlands and latitude are cut and fit the same?
A shopper on Jun 23, 2016
BEST ANSWER: As I recall the Latitude was a "tighter" fit than the Badlands when I tried them on in the showroom. I am 6'0/180 lbs and the Badlands
is a bit baggy on me, but will allow for comfortable layering.
