Great Jacket
The first thing to get past is the price tag. OK, it is Gortex - and you will pay for it.

But after paying off my credit card, I came to appreciate the technology and design of this jacket. The idea of using base layering for warmth seems far superior than zip-in systems. The Gortex is waterproof and breathable.

I live in Seattle area and ride year round. I have used this jacket at 90 degrees to 34 degrees. The air flow is adequate for hot weather (of course you will bake at a red light). In cold weather, I use under layers to keep warm.

The armor is top notch. The construction is durable. The tightening arm straps are heavy duty (unlike the latitude model). Extra material on shoulders and elbows are a nice touch.

The only dig I have is the collar snap, which is difficult to snap sometimes. This is really a minor issue, so overall I would give this jacket the highest rating possible.

Great job Klim!

Expensive and built that way
I bought this jacket because I wanted hi-viz, gore-tex, ventilation and extremely good protection. I am 5' 8" 160lbs. Ordered a large but ended up with a medium which fit just right. I don't ride much when it gets in the 30's but 40 & above I don't think much of a base layer will be required (hence the medium) - this jacket is warm. The airflow is ok, but I can't wear it above 80 degrees. I had hoped the gore-tex would work as advertised and breath better but I don't find that to be the case. In any event, this is a fantastic piece of clothing. I'll wear something else for the hot weather but this will be a go to for early to late spring and early to late fall. Winter riding with a base layer and heated vest will probably be fine. Overall, I am extremely impressed with the quality of this product.

Excellent jacket; good fit. Looks great
this is a great-looking, hi-viz, excellent jacket. I am 5'7", athletic, 165 lbs and ordered both a small and a medium, with the idea of seeing which fit best. A small was unusable, and a medium slightly big, until I cinched it down at the waist. Now, it fits well and looks great. The only real complaint I have is the collar sometimes rubs on my throat, but this is a relatively small issue. For that reason I gave it 4 stars, rather than 5. I also gave air flow a 4, rather than 5, because I think it would be difficult to wear this jacket above 75F. In any case, I am very happy with the jacket, and I have the KLIM Induction jacket as well. I needed the Apex for the colder months and it has served me well, from Oct , through probably April.

Good touring jacket
First, I will say that I was debating between this jacket and the Badlands and purchased this one due to the thought the big side vents would work better on the ST1300 with an extra wide wind screen. Well, the side vents do flow a lot of air at times, but it depends on a cross wind (also at times they acted like a parachute for a stretch when I was riding across Wyoming based on how the wind was coming at me), otherwise the airflow on my bike misses me. Also, the lower arm vents really catch a lot of air on my scooter, but on the ST the windflow misses them, hence my bike probably makes the jacket less effective in warm weather. Also, I would say anything under about the mid 60's and I'm looking to use a mid-layer. In the end, I'm thinking I might have been happier purchasing the Badlands.

Excellent Jacket
I purchased this jacket to replace my old school leather jacket. This is considerably lighter and much more comfortable. This past weekend I traveled up to Plattsburg NY and over to Smugglers Notch in Vermont. We experienced temps from the low 40's up to the mid 70's. With some layering the jacket kept me toasty warm and when the temps went up the air flow was perfect. I am extremely happy with the quality and styling. I expect to get many years of good use from this.

Awesome jacket, just expensive!
Love the leather and gore-tex combo. Rode it through a serious downpour and did not get wet once. Airflow is awesome with all the vents open. Klim makes some serious gear and you get what you pay for but the price of admission is steep and a serius investment. Will be keeping this until the sleeves fall off!

The finest touring jacket I've had
I looked at the Klim products for a while now. I like the idea of just a shell as every jacket I have always gets the liner removed and I use my own base layers. I think they are a bit overpriced, but nobody else seems to make the stuff they do. I had a chance to try on a Latitude at Motorcyle Week in Laconia this past year, but they didn't have the Apex in my size. I did like the vent design much better.

When I got the jacket, I found it to fit well, but the collar needed help. Like others have commented it stuck me. Also, fastening the snap isn't always a simple task. My solution was to fold over the top forward to lower the collar a little. My solution was to play around with the flap. I found that if it was folded over on the top a little, it felt a lot better. So, I put a couple drops of epoxy where my fold was and set a 10 lb weight on it for a day. The result was a permanent fold over that was a lot more comfortable.

Everything else fit well. I think I'd prefer a velcro strap type cinch for the waist rather than the elastic cord, but I really don't have a problem with the cord. The jacket doesn't seem to ride up at all unless I'm trying to zip up the large side vents. Speaking of zipped up vents, the zippered openings don't seem to leak any air at all when closed.

Getting a short glove under the cuff isn't as easy as some jackets, wish there was a better closure that allowed a more open cuff. That said, large gauntlets do fit over without much trouble. You do need to use your thumb to force the material on the cuff to fold over itself to get it snug, but I've had other jackets that close this way.

Just as my jakcet arrived, the cooler weather came along too. Temps in the morning have been in the upper 40's to mid 50's and the afternoons have been upper 70's to low 80's. Running just a short sleeve shirt under the jacket is a bit cool in the 40's. If I was traveling any more than the 30 miles to work, I'd need something else under. Going home, I've been pleased with the vents. Far easier to open and close while wearing the jacket and flows a good amount of air once I make sure the vent is open to the oncoming air. Hard to say how the venting stacks up with previous jackets. Obviously not as well as a full mush, but surprisingly it does flow.

On my bike, the front fairing does not quite block all the wind that hits my body. On cold days, I can feel the cool air on my sides because heated gear does not cover that area. Well, that same airflow comes right in the massive side vents and does a good job cooling. Added to the flow on the arms and the temps will need to get 90+ before the air isn't enough. However, when stopped, you certainly know that you are in a solid jacket. Traffic lights get warm, but the air once moving really clears it up quickly. I would hate to be stuck in stop and go traffic though.

I printed a copy of my medical card and a card with all kinds of info in case of emergency and laminated them to stick in the sleeve pocket. Nice feature, but I wish Klim used both the star and the red cross as indicators. I have medical training and rarely see anyone use the star here in the states.

My bike has a low backrest and I've had some jackets that don't sit well against it. The Apex sits really nice.

The collar is a bit lower than past jackets. In cold weather I'll probably need to add a neck wrap. The cinch does help by closing up the neck a little, but too much really pulls the front flap in. The other issue is that the elastic cord end starts to flap and get annoying. I tried tucking it down, but you can feel it and it does not like to stay. Best I could do was put a half hitch in the cord such that the cord is angled away from me.

Can't really speak to the waterproof nature of the jacket. I've had some misty mornings and I got nailed by a poorly aimed sprinkler head, but just about any textile would have handled that. I need a good soaking rain to really do this jacket justice. But given the strict rules Gore has on using its name, I suspect I have nothing to fear.

Have not had to mess with the armor. It simply fell perfectly in place and the arm cinches did a great job of holding it all in place. Very happy with the lining of the jacket. Even in the warm weather it does not feel bad at all against my skin. Opening the cinches a little, I can put on my heated jacket liner easily.

As for color, I like the high-vis, but would like to see some effort to reflect some heat. The dark chest does absorb solar heat. As it is, I'll need to scrub the high-vis clean, so doing the same on a more sun friendly body color would not be a big deal.

Great Klim Product
Like the Klim Latitude pants I purchased with this jacket, this is the most expensive MC jacket I've ever purchased. That was not an easy leap for me but I think it was worth it. This is a very well made jacket and the Gore-Tex works as advertised. Very good airflow, although, I will likely go to my mesh jacket for summer temps. No insulation or zip out liner, which I prefer. Pockets are sufficient and easy to use. Love the Hi-Visibility option. Not sure why any rider wouldn't want to be as obvious as possible on the road.

The sizing runs a little small, based on the chart. I wear an L or XL in shirts, depending on style, and a Large was too tight. The XL jacket is perfect. Revzilla could not have handled the exchange any more professionally or promptly.

Great product delivered by Revzilla's great customer service.

The jacket I have been waiting for from Klim
The new Apex is a great jacket. Mine just arrived. The obvious thought that went into the design, the look and feel, and the features are pure Klim and at the top of the food chain. The fit seems right on to the chart. I ordered a large so I could layer. It fits very well with a lot of adjustment. The Gore Tex Italian leather pieces in the shoulder and arms are great and very soft. I can't wait to ride with it in the rain. I will update when I get some mile in it. I got the hi-viz and color layout looks great.

Bought this out of desperation that a sportbike rider could fit into this, but it was a hell no. I'm a 42 year old sportbike enthusiast that commutes to work everyday so need riding gear that's practical yet is able to deal with a non sit up and beg, all the weight on your ass, type of rider triangle. Fits like garbage.

I am a BIG Klim fan. Great products with the best materials and design. I have worn this jacket on two 3000+ mile trips this year. Rode in cold, cold rain, hot, hot rain. One day started at 27 degrees and ended at 97 degrees. This jacket is fully water proof when needed and vents very well when needed. A great jacket. Highly recommended.

How can this jacket be cleaned so I don't smell like the road after a week?
A shopper on Jul 11, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Fabreeze is what I use for quick touch-ups, hand wash and air dry the inside for the full treatment.
What Klim pants go best with this jacket?
A shopper on Jun 3, 2015
BEST ANSWER: In the video, Anthony says it pairs with the Torrent pant. I believe it is because the new zipper configuration on the newer Klim jackets like the Apex will not align with the older zipper design of Klim pants. My opinion is that if you don't need to zipper the jacket to your pant on your rides, then buy whatever pant you like. The jacket has loops to secure it down to a jean pant, you could likely configure it so it connects to any textile riding pant. The jacket is amazing by the way. Best purchase for my daily rides and weekend outings and I wear it with riding jeans mostly.
Does this jacket have a 2 way main zipper?
A C on Sep 24, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Hmmm this is abit confusing, conflicting responses! Could it be the newer ones have a 2 way main zipper?
Watched the video. Didn't show if the collar can be folded and held open. Can it?
Timothy T on Nov 2, 2016
BEST ANSWER: No the collar does not snap open. On the same note it never bothers me either. It doesn't come up so high that it causes a problem. I rode all summer with this jacket zipped up all the way and the vents open and was ok. I live in the DC area and I'm from Phoenix so take that into account.
I am 5’-7” and weigh 150lbs. Would I take a small or medium?
A shopper on Feb 12, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I'm 5'8" at 185lbs. and I take a large (and the arms are tight if I wear a thicker underlayer), so I would consider the Medium. The cut of the torso is "medium", lengthwise, so it fits in between a sportbike cut and an adventure jacket cut. I have longish arms and a longer torso, so the large fits me well (other than the tight arms). I have muscular arms, so you need to take that into consideration. Also take into account what jacket liner you might want to use, as that will dictate arm tightness. Hope that helps!
