Kaoko Throttle Lock Yamaha FZ-09 / FZ-07

The Kaoko Cruise Control is perfect for anyone looking to reduce fatigue and strain on your hand and wrist during long distance highway riding.

Each Throttle Lock consists of a simple, ingenious and robustly designed friction nut that is integrated with a special Kaoko bar end weight. The Kaoko bar end weight is closely matched in appearance and weight to the Original Equipment Manufacturer's (OEM) bar end weight.

The Friction Nut has a left-hand thread. It must be adjusted so that it makes light contact with the rubber throttle sleeve.

The Grub Screw is set to provide the necessary resistance on the friction nut. This may be adjusted periodically to take up wear.

To Engage: Twist the throttle and friction nut simultaneously with your right hand. This action tightens the nut and provides sufficient friction to set throttle to the desired position. The friction nut is designed that the rider may still open and close the throttle.

To Disengage: Roll off the throttle while gripping the friction nut. The throttle should open and snap closed freely.

Features:

  • Easy to operate, even with heavy winter gloves
  • High quality, compact and durable design
  • Super smooth action
  • Takes less than 5 minutes to install
  • Very little maintenance is required
  • Less wear and tear on throttle cables and grips
  • Better MPG

Works great as a throttle lock
I had one on my DL650 V-Strom, and it works very well. I bought this for my FZ-07. Even though it is listed for the FZ-09 it is the same item for both bikes. Expensive, but it works and it lasts.

A mechanical throttle-lock; does exactly as advertized.
Absolutely nothing to doing the install... takes seconds once you have the correct Allen wrenches at hand. Easy to adjust, but does take a little fiddling. My only gripe is that it seems to be overpriced and I'm NOT a tightwad, by any means. However, I got mine with a chunk of Revzilla points so the cost was about right (@ $100).

simple solid cruise control
super easy to install, takes about 30-60 seconds after you get your allen wrench.
I like it all the way tight off until ready for use. If I'm on a long stretch of highway or I've been over gripping and just need a light throttle break, I twist the throttle lock tight and get that relief.
it is super easy to override the lock if you need to. I don't use it every ride, but its always there if i need it.

Sleek, easy but not cheap
I used to own the little 10$ stick that sit on the brake. This leave you all the room for the hand, is almost invisible on the motorcycle and almost impossible to break. But I honestly think it's too expensive even with all the added benefits.

A luxury I didn't know I needed
Wow. First of all, I'm glad I didn't pay the extra cash for 3 day shipping because this thing got here just as quick without it.

This was easy to install, just take the old bar end off and place the washer and new bar end on, and though it came with instructions that only specified the FZ-09, it fit perfectly with my FZ-07.

The weight of this bar end feels almost exactly the same as the old one when riding. I was not able to notice a difference.

I do want to note that I do not have hand guards on my bike but according to the instructions, there is some sort of piece that can be purchased separately for those who do and want to keep their hand guards.

Operation of this product is a little tricky at first until you find the perfect spot to leave the locknut so that when you use it, it will fully engage against the throttle tube. once you've got it in placed when you want it, it's a breeze.

I can appreciate the finish on this bar end but I would have to say that I'd like to see more color options similar to what you would see from other bar end weights which would then attract the customizer crown who likes to color coordinate their accessories.

As for the bang for the buck? I agree with some that this is a little overpriced. But considering that this is one of the better options on the market, you're stuck between a rock and hard place when you're looking for something to take the stress of your hand and wrist on longer rides.

Nice
If you have a touchy throttle on your bike this almost a must on bumpy corners. Add a little drag to the throttle makes things much more controllable. ( I don't think anything can be added to the bar end when installed. No bar end mirrors Ect.On long trips this thing is worth its weight in gold, Very nicely machined tough finish, looks good. CNC machines are spendy., but they sure make nice parts.

Cramps are Gone
I ride the 405 every morning around 6am and there's a stretch where my hand would cramp. This throttle lock works very well and is well made.

will this work with oxford heated grips on a fz 09?
A shopper on Mar 11, 2017
BEST ANSWER: If you dont have to remove the handlebar ends to use the heated grips I dont see why you shouldnt be able to use the Kaoko Throttle Lock. The lock replaces the bar end.
