Kaoko Throttle Lock Honda NC700X / CTX700 / CB500X / F / CBR500R

The Kaoko Cruise Control is perfect for anyone looking to reduce fatigue and strain on your hand and wrist during long distance highway riding.

Each Throttle Lock consists of a simple, ingenious and robustly designed friction nut that is integrated with a special Kaoko bar end weight. The Kaoko bar end weight is closely matched in appearance and weight to the Original Equipment Manufacturer's (OEM) bar end weight.

The Friction Nut has a left-hand thread. It must be adjusted so that it makes light contact with the rubber throttle sleeve.

The Grub Screw is set to provide the necessary resistance on the friction nut. This may be adjusted periodically to take up wear.

To Engage: Twist the throttle and friction nut simultaneously with your right hand. This action tightens the nut and provides sufficient friction to set throttle to the desired position. The friction nut is designed that the rider may still open and close the throttle.

To Disengage: Roll off the throttle while gripping the friction nut. The throttle should open and snap closed freely.

Features:

  • Easy to operate, even with heavy winter gloves
  • High quality, compact and durable design
  • Super smooth action
  • Takes less than 5 minutes to install
  • Very little maintenance is required
  • Less wear and tear on throttle cables and grips
  • Better MPG

Note: Does not include a replacement left side bar end weight.

This thing is so simple, yet so useful!
I looked around at a few different variations of the throttle lock, and while it costs a pretty penny, it doesn't arch over your other controls, and it is simple to use.

I bought this in anticipation of a trip on the Natchez Trace, and I'm so glad that I did!!

This is my first throttle lock, and if you've never used one, I can't easily express how amazing it is to have your right hand free while riding. You can fix your cuff, fiddle with your gps, stretch your arm out! You can even stand up in the pegs to stretch out your back without having to worry too much about your speed.

Just twist the knob at the end of your throttle and relax as the engine revs hold at the setting.

Installation was fairly easy, after I had my local shop rip out my handlebar weight (prob could've managed, but it was getting too frustrating with too little time left...). If you have a slide hammer, it should be no prob on a Honda NC700 ;).

I recommend this, but I would encourage you to investigate the difficulty of removing your handlebar weight before making tight travel plans...

Nice choice of accessory
Recently got a nice deal on a left-over NC700X so here I am blowing my "savings" on accessories. Started with comfort and utility (windshield, center stand, fender hugger, fender extender) and now this throttle lock. It looks trick and works very well; actually keeps the throttle pinned where you want it and gives you a chance to shake out the right hand and prevent cramps. The only reason I gave it a 4 on ease of installation is that you have to remove the infernal Honda bar-end weight. Mere mortals can do it, but you'll need a full vocabulary of swear words to accomplish it. The Kaoko product is heavy enough to dampen vibration as well as the stock weight. Would definitely recommend this product

Easy to install and use
It works great! Not as good as true cruise control, of course, but saves your wrist and easy to maintain a given speed within 5 mph or so. You have to adjust throttle on hills but because it's friction-based you can just leave it engaged.

A very handy accessory for cruising.
I purchased a 2016 Honda NM4 (Vultus) in October 2015 from SRS Motorsports in Greenville, NC. I had the dealer install the Kaoko Throttle Lock, so I cannot comment regarding its ease of install. After riding for a few months now, I am very pleased I made this purchase.

There are only two issues I have with it:

1. it tends to loosen up on its own, causing me to have to retighten it often;

2. I wonder how safe it is in a situation where I might have to stop very quickly, seeing how the only way to disengage it is to throttle down.

Regardless, I do like the product overall.

The product is made with quality material. Fit and finish is outstanding.
The instructions should provide better detail when removing the internal weight on the NC700X. It was a struggle. It is nearing impossible to remove the internal weigh by simply depressing the clip after removing the external weight. You need to remove the throttle control to allow access to the clip ends. Once accessed, attach the screw that held the external weight and an additional wash to the internal weight. Using a slid hammer/puller with a hook fork attachment, depress the clips you exposed by removing the throttle control and slid the weight on the hammer to force the internal weight out. This many take several attempts do to the force need to remove the weight. Once removed it is very easy to install the throttle lock. It is a nice addition and makes the bike more enjoyable.

Not working on repeated positions
Perhaps it's due to continually setting this @ 70 MPH or whatever the speed limit is on the 101, 1 or 5 on the freeway but it seems that it would loosen up at the same position over the course of 2 weeks using this going from LA to Seattle. It does work on a position that isn't continually set to so perhaps I need some clarification as to what happens in the same throttle lock position. It worked at 75 MPH so that leads me to believe that it's the repeated position that eventually loosens up after mere seconds- if that.

Your great pricing and reputation.

As per the manufacturer's email yesterday to me after my inquiry, it is the same model # (HND100) used for the 2014 Honda CTX700/700ND. They have yet to update their website to include this model. Maybe you can update yours.

Will the Kaoko throttle lock work on a 2015 NC700X DCT with factory heated grips?
A shopper on Mar 11, 2015
BEST ANSWER: As long as the original bar end was used with the heated grips. This throttle lock fits into bar end and replaces original bar end.
For the CBR500R, does this require you to remove the bar-end core or tube (what the factory weight screws into)?
Eric W on May 13, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I had to remove the weight and all internals on my nc700. The throttle lock is fairly heavy and has a pinch bolt type lock inside the handle bars.
Will this work on a Honda CTX 700 n ?
A C on Aug 20, 2016
BEST ANSWER: If Kaoko list one it will. There product is quality. The Honda internal weight takes some effort to remove. Take everything off the right bar to expose the two clips that hold the internal weight in place. I used a slide hammer and a hooked fork to remove it. Good luck.
Will this work with Barkbusters or Givi's version?
A C on Apr 6, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I couldn't get the throttle lock to work with my Honda CBR500R at all, and returned it. Part of the problem is that the stock CBR bar end weights are attached to the handlebars by a long piece that is inside the handlebar and securely fastened with some tabs that fit into holes in the bar. This piece has to be removed because the Kaoko throttle lock also fits inside the bar. It would take a slide hammer to remove the Honda part, and the stock bar end could never be put back on. As far as bark busters are concerned, I don't see how they could attach to the end of the handlebar when the throttle lock is already taking up that space.
