Quality/Construction could be improved.
Ive owned the white/red for over a year and a half now. I'm a little OCD when it comes to wearable products. So here are my quick thoughts on my experience with these shoes:

- The size comes a little larger than my worn shoe size. id recommend going a bit smaller if you are on the fence.
- These shoes get hot inside. very poor ventilation if none at all.
- I've noticed the buckle come undone on its own a few times. no big deal, but it says something about the build construction if you need to double check everytime you clip them on. It is a little unnerving and I question if it will stay locked in if I get involved in an accident.
- The largest gripe I have is the wide top strap with the velcro BITES into my ankle in the riding position. No matter how loose I fasten the strap, there is no give because it is so wide and made with cheap plasticky leather.
- Overall, the shoe feels cheap. The materials feel cheap. The velcro on the top strap is about to rip off now. Which is a shame because it looks so great in the pictures.

Would not recommend this shoe. I agree with another reviewer that posted here that these shoes are worth $50-60. If I had paid that much.. I would not be so disappointed.

Saved some toes...
No one ever expect to put the gear to test, but I had a crash experience where a 40mph car rammed a standing still me from behind. I had my boots on.. and my JR Atomic pants, also my Schuberth C3 helmet.
Apart from some obvious pain, I had not a single cut nor bruise.... nothing. The level of protection was more than enough and you can see the stress received by the boots just by looking at all the scratch marks and a broken toe slider.
Will never ride again without my gear on.

Great boots! Not very durable...
Boots are comfortable and stylish, yet I have owned them for a few weeks and the strap has already almost come off.

Not so average Joe
Good design, quality not so good. Airflow not good for summer ridding. After 4 months and 3500 miles of commute. The shoe starting making squeaky noise and the right side shoe bottom rubber strap rip apart. No longer able to use the shoe for ridding. Now I've a $100 lawn mowing shoe.

Great boot!
I absolutely love these boots! They are very comfortable and I've found myself in them for hours with no issues at all. It is tough to leave the house with out them, they make me feel much safer. The only small problem I could see people complain about is the airflow. There is zero airflow going through the boot, so sometimes your feet get a little warm, on hot days (90*+). However If you find yourself trapped in the rain, you don't have to worry about your feet getting wet. Overall I really like these boots and would recommend them! Not to mention the price is spot on.

Good one season boot
I really like how the boots look, right on the cusp of good looking and being safe. I only owned them for about a year and the snap on the end of the rubber strap tore off. Granted, it was a good hard year. I put almost 15,000 mile on the bike, but I would expect boots like these to last a little longer.

Toe Slider Issues
I had picked these up from my local shop about a month and a half ago for my MSF class. Well, a week after getting my bike and about 2 weeks of owning the boots, my right boot decided to malfunction leaving the toe slider on the road. Turns out the studs in the boot were stripped and could not tighten down.

Lifetime warranty to the rescue! I contacted my local shop and they talked to JR to get a pair sent in for me free of charge. I swapped my shoes out and all seemed good.......until a weekend of riding were as today I noticed one of the screws on the right boot toe slider loose and sticking out ready to fall on the floor.

I'm not sure if I'm just getting bad units here from a batch but I can not recommend these if they keep breaking every month or weekend.

As far as the boots other points. it bites into your ankle quite hard on my sport bike seating position which is quite annoying.
I do like the snaps on the lower portion and velcro on the upper, and other than the toe slider issue, all other build quality seems more than well enough.
Air flow is minimal to none so sitting around in the house will be very hot but no complaints once on the road or in low temp days.

Questionable buckle closure
I ordered these and tried them on. Disappointing to say the least. Boot was true to shoe size. Could not get a tight enough closure with the buckle clasp. They would have been better off putting laces on the boot instead. Also, the ratcheting mechanism on the buckle is made of plastic so longevity is in question. Nonetheless, I returned them, shame to cause they look good.

Doesn't close properly and ...
.. quite bulky to the point that it impacts control of pedals.
I am sorry to say that the finish and part of the material used are quite tacky.

I like the style of the shoe and it was within my price range. The only 'con' is that you need to be careful with the buckle. Mine is starting to wear after a couple of months of riding. If it goes, I know I can fix it. You do what you have to do. Overall, good shoe-boot that is better than gym shoes and comfortable.

Awesome shoe and perfectly fits along with easy on, easy off. I will wear these on the road when my current shoes wear out. I am just wearing a pair of Nike's that have Velcro straps. But as soon as they wear smooth, then I already have these Joe Rocket Atomic Boots. Perfect for a sportbike. Good quality for any amount of money.

Are these waterproof at all?
tfox on Oct 8, 2013
BEST ANSWER: The product makes no claims of waterproof-ness, but it did a really good job at keeping the rain out and my socks dry. I did have waterproof pants coming over the top of the boot, so I can only speak for the toe and the instep areas. The tongue is attached to the boot on three sides, so that might have something to do with it.
I normally wear a US 9.5 shoe shoe size. Should i go up to a 10 or down to a 9?
A shopper on Oct 28, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I am also 9.5 and I believe they only have 10 to match. I love these shoes that I wore them out in one season. I may buy another pair. I brought a size 10 and they fit perfect. You'll be very happy with your purchase.
hello

can use this boots in summer very very hot ?
joseph b on Apr 21, 2015
BEST ANSWER: For me they don't get very hot. i sometimes use a thicker sock and still have no issues, even after hours of riding and walking.
how is shoe walking casual like walking around the mall for a couple hours?
A shopper on Mar 4, 2015
BEST ANSWER: These are very comfortable shoes. With all this snow and slush in NYC -I often find myself using these boots as my snow boots! They stay dry and comfortable. The best part is the ease and quickness you can jump in-and-out of these kicks! I love them.

P.S. - The toe guard on my right shoe became loose while riding and I managed to save the toe guard itself without the screws. I quickly found some alternate screws that keep the toe guard in place. However, they are dry wall screws and they look really funny! ;-)

Enjoy your boots!

Joe Rocket Atomic or Speed and Strength Moment of Truth?
Timothy M on Feb 1, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I have never had the S&S boots but I have been impressed with the Joe Rocket boots.
Does this boot have some form of added heel impact protection? It doesn't really look like it from the product pics.
A shopper on May 23, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Not much actually. The heel box feels strong, slightly better than a high top basketball shoe.
Do these come in wide widths? I wear a size 11, 4E in regular shoes and just want to make sure these will work. They look awesome.
A C on Sep 4, 2016
Do they have a steel shank? I have to pass through a metal detector at work.
