Not quite what I expected, but not in a bad way
I'm the kinda guy that doesn't want a bluetooth headset for bike-to-bike communications but often leads rides with my friends. What better way to communicate hand signals than with a nice pair of super bright colored gloves.

I bought these after my second or third pair of Icon TwentyNiner (should be called ThirtyFiver) gloves tore a seam and I got sick of replacing them. I was wearing a large in the TwentyNiner and afraid that I had bought them just a little too small and that was causing the premature failures. So onto something new.

Fit: These are a bit big. I went with the XL for the reasons stated above and I'm sure I could have fit in the Large just fine, but time will tell.

Style: I love the way these look, plain and simple. This is purely objective though. They have just the right amount of super loud colors balanced with grey and black that I don't feel like a decked out BMW R1200 rider.

Comfort: There is a seam in the right thumb that I found was bugging me, but i'm sure i'll get over it. These gloves are okay to put on and take off. Not easy on-off but not tough either. Having them as just pull on gloves (no velcro on the wrist) is something that I'm going to have to adjust to as well. The gauntlets go up just past the wrist and I really like the way they feel, like a hybrid between a race glove and street glove. The closest in feel I can think of would be a good pair of mechanics gloves.

Protection and durability: I've only taken these for a few rides now so thankfully I haven't had to use them to fight the street yet and I also haven't worn them enough for them to begin to show any flaws so I will have to revisit this later on. D30 in the knuckle, Battlehide (whatever that is, feels like leather or at least leather like) so I can't complain there. This isn't a race gauntlet again but it's quite a bit better than wearing MX gloves, surgical gloves, mechanics gloves.

Airflow: This category means a lot to me living in Florida. These were okay. Not great, not bad, but okay. I feel like my TwentyNiner's flowed a bit more air, but at no point did i feel like these were restrictive or my hands were sweating.

Features: These advertise touchscreen thumb and index finger. I don't think they work very well, but that's just me. Probably has something to do with them being just a little too big for me. Probably has something to do with my phone being out of date. Probably has something to do with my technological impairment and inability, but who cares. Get off your phone and ride your bike.

Like i said, fit was a little large compared to other icon products.

All in all, I'm satisfied with these gloves. Would I recommend them to a friend? Absolutely. Would I buy them again? Maybe.

Good gloves
The gloves are lightweight and decently comfortable. They provide a decent amount of airflow as well. They have held up well so far and don't seem to be wearing out anytime soon. The only problems I have had with them are that they can be a little tight around the knuckles at first and that they have left a blue stain on my hands after a long hot summer ride.

This gloves are super comfortable. But my only thing with them, like some other comments have said, is that after a while of your hands sweating a little bit and it being hot, the gloves will dye your hands blue.

Overall a good glove for the price.
Don't get me wrong I am happy with the glove for the price point, but one of the most basic things it got wrong for me. This is my second pair of summer riding gloves. They fit really snug, comfy and keep my hands dry while on. They can be a challenge to get on and off sometimes (specially if hand is sweating before applying) but they are so form fitting I can get money out of pocket, pump gas, etc. I got the high visual pair to match my Olympia jacket, but the color is off enough to be noticeable...bummer. Now my main pet peeve is that the phone touch stitch sucks, I mean it's sub par at best. I bought them for that feature and they don't deliver a seamless touch experience. It's like the first version of thumb lock for smart phones...ugh!

Just what I needed
I've only got about a month and 1,000 miles on these, but they have served me well in warm weather and temps down to roughly 40f.

I have not had any seam issues, though they do dye my hands blue on longer rides.

They fit well and are quite comfortable. I'd prefer a Velcro cuff, but that's about all I'd change. I cannot speak to the functionality of the "tech fingertip" as my phone lives in my jacket on rides.

Overall, these are great for the price, and I hope I don't have to test the fairly minimal protection offered...

Good style poor quality.
I've been buying Icon gear since 06 and honestly it's kind of gone downhill. I still own my first pair of Super Duty gloves and they've barely split any stitches after 10 years but my last pair of textiles from Icon and these Wireforms both blew out stitching in less than a year. I'm also really not a fan of the super tight cuffs on these in lieu of a wrist strap.

Price, protection and airflow in warmer weather. I have heated grips and guards, and they've been warm enough down to 40f.

I wanted a lighter glove for the summer months and the Icon Wireform was exactly what I wanted after numerous research on other gloves. At the same time they provide some form of protection on the knuckles too.

Do these gloves match the colors of the Icon Overlord textile jacket? The oranges look different in the photos.
A C on Jun 19, 2017
BEST ANSWER: These gloves were intended to go with the Wireform jacket. You could try ordering these and see how they work with the jacket. If you are looking for something to go with the Overlord jacket, try the Overlord gloves.

This is the Wireform, part of the spring collection from ICON for 2016. Super lightweight, three season hot weather riding, three season warm weather riding, so think mid to early spring or mid to late spring, all summer, and really, early to mid-fall. I will tell you they're super lightweight neoprene. It's not going to flow a ton of direct air, but it's light enough that you're going to get chilly on those earlier morning rides. Really best suited for that hot weather riding time of the year. But it is decently versatile.

Now, it won't break the bank, around the $50 mark, keep that in mind. You have a handful of colors. This is the Hi-Viz, meant to be super lightweight, following that same contingent as some of the Anthem gloves, the 29er glove, again, just getting a little beefier as you go. And you can see the neoprene, still D30 in the knuckle, and you have some hard parts. Quick note on sizing, though, a couple things that are interesting here. So I'm wearing a size extra-large. I would be a size large. They gave me an XL today, they got it wrong. Size large falling into the same size curves. Kind of keep that in mind when you look at it. It looks a little bit sloppy on my hand, and that's because I'm wearing one size up.

When we look at it, though, it has a little bit of give and stretch to it. You have neoprene across the cuff, and some of the folks in our office thought this cuff was a little too tight to get your hand in and out of. I actually don't have an issue with it, when you think about the sizing, and a lot of the newer ICON jackets it'll match with actually have that monkey paw and that thumb loop, and it gives you enough room to go underneath. They've just simplified things. They're giving you a pull here, but there's no actual tab that goes across. Keep that in mind. Use a size chart, no surprises.

Now, some of the other details here. You see the neoprene cuff, comfortable, has the ICON logoing embossed and debossed into it. Moving up to the knuckle I talked about molecular D30 armor just across the knuckle, just very basic, but again, it's going to absorb that shock, disperse the energy, minimize the impact if you happen to put your hands down. I will say this, it's a relatively inexpensive glove, so it's good for the bounce. So again, if you're thinking about that, if you go down on these guys, pretty lightweight, summer weight, you're giving yourself some protection, but it's not going to be hardcore like a full leather glove. Keep that in mind.

And we look at the fingers, one of things I like is they gave you these TPUs on your index, middle and your ring finger, just giving you a little bit of side protection if you happen to put the back side of your hand down. I wish they would have continued that on to the pinkie. Now, as I roll over here, you're going to see the tacking here along both the tip of the thumb, tip of the index finger. That's going to be touch tack. That means it's going to work with an Android or iPhone device, which is nice. And you do have the Battlehide goatskin palm, so it is a very comfortable palm with a light precurve from ICON.

Notice again, around the $50 mark, I really can't complain here when I don't see altene protection. This is basic, it's sport riding, and again, if it falls out of your pocket, it's not going to make you cry for a week if you have to go replace it. So again, you'll probably go through a couple of pairs of these here and there. Go through maybe a pair every season or two, but I'm not worried about it and it's not like they're trying to charge you $100 for it, so keep that in mind.
