The rip-stop chassis with multiple pockets and a 15” laptop compartment provides a secure operating envelope. Unique riding-specific features include a helmet carrier and waterproof rain fly. Reviews & Questions
The inside of the pack is as described in the video, not very exciting. The hi-viz rain cover is neatly, tucked away in a pocket on the bottom and is permanently attached so it's not like you can misplace it., the shoulder straps, once disconnected feed through the provided holes, then reattach. One thing the video missed was a small bungy loop and plastic hook that when joined together, ensure that no wind will catch on the underside. Good thinking on the design team.
The additional helmet netting, while I don't imagine I would ever use it, will allow for my Shoei Air Wanderer, again it's neatly packed away, permanently attached on the bottom and hooks up nicely to the top. Good thinking again for the design team.
I had been using a maxpedition messenger bag, but it was a bit short of space to carry the stuff I wanted. And while I have a truck load of backpacks and bags from my years in the service, I wanted the obnoxious hi-viz.
In conclusion, if you don't care about having hi-viz, maybe look for a different, cheaper backpack, if you are wanting hi-viz and an intelligent, sturdy design, this does work well. And no matter how much I over pack the bag, the cover always fits.
-Lightweight and looks awesome
-Has a nice high-viz rain cover that looks good in either color
-Built in helmet sling
-Has buckles that connect at the sternum and the lower abdomen to make it secure
-Good laptop/tablet pouch
-Air channels at the back with a sturdy feeling pad that rests against your back
-Good price point for what you get and the style of it
-Feels sturdy and not cheap which is nice
-The rain cover is good for the high-viz factor, but don't rely on it to make your backpack waterproof
-The rain cover is a bit tricky to get on at first since you can leave gaps where water can leak in (when you put it on, it doesn't form a seal so water can and probably will get in a bit)
-The helmet sling feels very thin and feels like it could rip easly. Additionally, it doesn't feel very secure at first and requires some adjustments
-If you want to carry a spare visor for your helmet (tinted vs non-tinted), it can fit but it feels like it could tear the backpack or is hard to close initially. I'm still trying to find a good means to take my visor, but overall the pack doesn't stretch so keep that in mind.
-The lower abdomen buckles don't have a pouch or pocket to stick them in when you're not using them. After adjusting, they hang down which could get caught on something (I tucked them into the rain cover pouch)
-It doesn't come with any instructions on how to snap together the rain or helmet cover so watch the vid to get an idea
Overall, I'd recommend it as an upgrade to a standard backpack despite some of the nuances or if you want a backpack with high-viz functionality. I don't plan on riding it in the rain, but having some extra time to keep things somewhat dry due to the rain cover helps.
