Icon Raiden DKR Jacket

Built to endure the roughest and toughest enduros, the Icon Raiden DKR Jacket brings Icon's technical expertise to ADV fray, kicking up dust and mulching trails along the way. Designed from the bottom up to compliment the Adventurous lifestyle, the Raiden DKR Jacket  features a totally waterproof/breathable Hycor chassis that is Dupont Teflon coated and seam sealed to create the ultimate barrier. Venting is provided through strategically placed zippered vents that mitigate moisture buildup and keep air moving. The main zipper is gusseted and features a magnetic storm flap and exclusive Hydrolock zipper.

Half as heavy as its predecessor, the Raiden DKR Jacket’s Hycor chassis provides all the waterproofing, and crashability but with less fatigue during extended rides. Removal of excess snaps, zippers and pulls further decreases the weight of the garment and enables a much improved fit.

Competition use in the Baja 1000 led us to slim the profile of the body and arms to not bunch when standing up. The DKR Jacket works with you, instead of against you.

Modularity is key to the Raiden DKR Jacket so that you may modify as the ride and conditions change. Twelve pockets, even a seat pocket, add trail carrying capability. D3O impact protector suite, hydration system routing, and three exhaust vents create a jacket that is prepared for whatever your ride may hold.

Features:

  • Raiden relaxed fit
  • Honeycomb Ripstop chassis with laminated Hycor membrane
  • Waterproof
  • D3O impact protectors - shoulders, elbows, back
  • Insulated and removable Thermolite Plus full liner
  • 2 chest vents
  • 2 pit vents
  • 1 exhaust vent
  • Sublimated chassis
  • Get Block waterproof chest pocket zipper
  • YKK waterproof zippers
  • Double storm flap with rare earth magnet closure
  • Hydration system hose routing
  • 3M reflective accents, rear storage
  • Ballistic nylon paneling
  • Three position elbow protector pockets
  • Fully taped seams

Can't go wrong if you can get the sizing right
I've had this jacket for about a month now and thought it was time to give this bad-boy a review.

Cost:
Definitely worth the $400 in my opinion.

Style:
Man this thing looks good! I got the red/white/blue and it gets a lot of attention. The 'red' is not a classic red and could lean a bit towards orange but it works great. I've had a few friends say they see me riding around looking like super-man (I'd prefer Captain America but whatever). I also wear it with the ICON Hypersport Pro Short gloves in the same red/white/blue (I think they named it Patriot for the gloves) color scheme. Really looking forward to getting the matching Raiden pants and boots at some point.

Comfort:
Super comfortable. The monkey paw was kind of annoying at first (your hands naturally slide in them every time you put on the jacket and then you just have to take them out). I do wish those had been paired to the thermal liner instead of the shell, but certainly not a deal breaker or a reason to lower the score as I do use them from time to time. The liner around the neck is also awesomely soft and comes at a good height to keep your neck warm.

Protection & Durability:
Luckily, I haven't tested out the full protection yet. I have one minor quip about durability/quality, it looks like there was a bunch of extra thread on the stitchings, not necessarily that the stitchings are breaking loose but more like when they were done making a stitch, they didn't cut the thread very close so there is just some spare thread hanging there. It might serve you well as floss when you get lost in the forest, but I will cut mine off.

Air Flow:
I've ridden in weather ranging from 40F mornings, 60F windy days, and 90F sunny days. I also haven't used the thermal liner. Albeit my ride in 40F was the 5 minute commute to work; with all the vents closed my upper body was warm as I felt my legs getting cold (just wearing jeans). With all the vents open on those hot sunny days, even at a stop-light, I didn't get too hot.

Features:
Vents, awesome (zip em down to cool off, zip em up to stay warm). Pockets, awesome (I throw my gloves in the side pockets and there's room to spare, keys in another pocket, work badge in another, smokes and shades in another, and I haven't even scratched the storage capacity). There are so many pockets on this thing I start to wonder why I even wear a back-pack. The rare-earth magnets are super cool and the storm flap stays closed but it took a few times gearing up to figure out how to get and keep it out of the way to zipper up. I do catch the velcro wrist straps on the little hose-routing clip on the front, kind of surprised I haven't ripped it off yet (kudos, ICON). I also really like the D3O armor, it's nice and flexible and I hardly notice it's there unless I bend my elbow all the way in. One thing I would like to see here is the inclusion of a tightening strap on the forearm/elbow/bicep.

Fitment:
Definitely fits large. I followed the size chart as best I could with my orangutan arms (6'2", 220lbs, 42" chest, 36" arms). So that put me at an XL for the chest and a 3XL for the arms. I decided to split the difference and grab the 2XL. WAY too big. I could move the elbow armor from the tip of my elbow and rotate it around to the inside (pit?) of my elbow and the shoulder armor sat more over my bicep than my shoulder. I also felt like I could fit my heavy winter coat underneath this jacket. So yeah.. freaking.. HUGE. After some more research, I decided to exchange it for the LG (RevZilla rules on the returns, as always). Fit me perfect. I was worried it would be too short in the arms but that doesn't seem to be the case. Also plenty of room left in the chest. So, in my experience, it fits a size large.

The only reason I would not recommend this product to anyone is because I want to be the only one of my friends that looks this sweet owning such a rad jacket. But I guess if they get a different color scheme...

Awesome jacket, super comfortable!
So I just got it today. I purchased the blue model. Pics don't do it justice. POP! That's all I could think of when I opened the box. The only thing I marked down on was airflow considering I can't ride due to weather right now. Pockets everywhere. I don't care for the monkey paw, but not a problem. This jacket is definitely a 4 season. Nice stitching. The neck liner is great. Nice and smooth to the touch on your neck. Overall F-ing Awesome! ICON made the jacket I always wanted. Design is flawless. Can you tell I love this jacket? Just trust me and get it. Oh and the fitment. ........I'm 220, 6'1" 43 chest, 33 arm length. Large is PERFECT. Thanks again Revzilla.com. I will possibly due a vid review if no one else does. Deuces!

Every thing you need with out costing $1,200
I also feel in love with this jacket as soon as it arrived. With the winter liner in, it is heavy but well built. It has plenty of pockets, the front zipper is tough, the magnets on the flap is really cool. I was not too excited about the monkey paw at first. Here in Florida never had anything with that. My wife from Wisconsin loves them and duh just do not put your thumbs in it and you do not have to use and the material takes up the gap in the jacket sleeve very well. During the winter I see the monkey paw working to help keep the top of your hands and wrists warmer. The vents work really well as we are already in the mid 80's getting ready for 90's shortly. I have not tested the waterproof of the jacket but looking forward to it and I will edit this review when I do. For me this is the 4 season jacket I have been waiting for.

Great Jacket
I'm loving this Jacket so far.

With the liner in and the vents closed it stays comfortably warm when it's cool. Used it on a 30 min freeway commute into work at 45 deg F and was perfectly warm the whole time.

With the liner out, and vents all open it was warm but not hot to the point of sweating while riding city roads at 30 mph in 85 deg F high humidity weather.

Would definitely recommend this product!

Smartly designed, great value jacket that does it all
This is an incredibly versatile jacket that seems to do everything well without costing a ton. I've had this jacket for about a month now and have ridden it in the mid-40 to low-60 temp range. I've been comfortable the whole time.

PROS:
* enough pockets located in good spots; love the back pocket where I can roll and store the liner if I get warm during a ride
* pretty light weight for a cold weather jacket
* comes with D30 armor in the back, shoulders, and elbows

CONS:
* monkey paw is not detachable
* in the dead of summer and if you're not moving, I can tell this jacket could get pretty hot. I'd be leery wearing this when the temp reaches 80 and above
* if you detach the liner, attaching the liner sleeve back is a pain
* cinches in the arms would be nice

Excellent jacket. Comfortable and waterproof!!
I've been riding in this jacket all summer. It is a true 4 season jacket. The only issue I have found is if you are standing in one spot it can get warm but on the go you are fine. I have been caught in heavy rain and had absolutely no problem staying dry. The d30 armor is light weight, flexible and comfortable. I highly recommend this jacket to anyone looking for an all weather jacket.

Best jacket I've ever owned
I'm so happy with this jacket it I can't describe it.

The Raiden is a brilliant jacket, has everything you need, keeps you dry, has excellent airflow properties, looks great, has all you need in terms of pockets.

I used it extensively this weekend in Death Valley and other rides prior to that and never felt like I was cooking in it. I haven't crash tested it fortunately, but it seems like it can withstand a fair amount of damage.

I could keep going on and on about the good that this jacket has, but I have limited time to write this up. I'll just say that a friend who rides with me bought it after seeing mine and has now sold the other jackets he owned (I didn't sell off ALL my other jackets, but two or three did go out). The liner will keep you warm in high 50s temps (haven't tested below that).

The only negative thing about it is that I feel it could be a tiny bit snugger at the arms. Sometimes too much material flaps around, especially between the shoulder and the elbow.

Everything else is incredible about this jacket. I will be replacing my Raiden with another Raiden if they're still around when I get to that point.

Love this jacket
I have owned this jacket for about 1.5 years now and I love it. My partner hates it because every time I wear it I feel the need to tell her I love it. I wear the Raiden for my dual sport riding and wet weather riding and if i didnt have 2 other jackets already I would buy another in black for my road/ cruiser riding.
I have the white (Glory) colour and I think it looks great- its not really a true white colour, more like a light grey but the blue and orange features look great. I'm 5ft7 and about 75kg and wear a Medium- and i could probably get away with wearing a small as around the mid riff there is a lot of room.
Ive worn this in a lot of cold and wet weather riding (both trail and touring) and it has kept me dry and warm near perfectly with only minor water dripping off the back of helmet down my neck. Regulating temperature is great with the thermal liner and the vents- especially the arm pit vents. The heat that pours out of these when you have them open is crazy.
In the heat/ summer, even with all the vents open the jacket does get hot especially in slow, technical riding but thats to be expected and i find it a willing compromise to have a safe, comfortable road ride to get to the trail.
All the pockets on the jacket are awesome, especially the 2 net pockets inside the belly section- perfect for your gloves when you stop for petrol or lunch. The monkey paw seems annoying at first and would make more sense to be on the thermal liner but once you are used to it it becomes normal. It contributes to the heat but not painfully. Sometimes i just have it around my wrist instead of my thumb- Would be easy to cut out if you wanted.
Other pros:
-D3o is great with easy soft pockets if you need to wash the jacket or move the armour between jackets.
-you can get a hydration pack which i have also
-the little loops and tabs give options for hanging a SPOT tracker
-the magnet closing works really well
-thermal liner is easy to remove if the day warms up
Some cons:
- the neck although soft and comfy seems large/wide and no option to adjust tight.
- the cuffs are velcro close which is fine but they dont open very wide so if your gloves are made to go inside the sleeve cuff they can be a squeeze/ awkward if the glove cuff is thick.
- thermal liner is full length sleeve and the little loops and buttons can be awkward when putting it back in due to the monkey paw limiting visibility. either start the ride with it in or have a simple shirt etc handy to layer up if it gets cold mid ride.
Hopefully my 2 other jackets get stolen and i can justify buying another RAIDEN DKR

A steal at closeout price!
Bought size M, glory (red white blue) color scheme.
6' tall, 6' 2" wingspan, 175 lbs, 32"waist, BUT, to make things tricky, 40-42" chest measurement which is largely lats. Finding clothes that let me move my arms, but also don't fit lake a sack, is... what it is.

Fit of this jacket is as good as I can expect, a bit tight in the back. Sleeve length is great, in spite of my slightly long arms. Has room in the torso, but not terribly baggy. My only criticisms that aren't a result of my proportions are that the elbow pads seem to be placed slightly high in the sleeves compared to the sleeve length, and the sleeves can get tight at the elbow when you bend your arm (not my biceps' fault, they're 13.5"... On a good day...). In spite of this tightness, the elbow amor sometimes twists around to the inside or outside.

Vents work, but it's definitely no mesh jacket. Comfortable, but damp with sweat riding around in high 70s low 80s Florida weather.

Looks great, quality seems good in spite of some excess stitches.

If you're short, don't get it. Big lats or biceps? Don't size-down like I did. Tall, pretty thin, looking for an awesome deal on an awesome look? Get it.

Amazing 4 season Jacket
I bought the jacket because its 4 seasons and I'm pretty impressed. I've ridden in over 100 degree weather and as long as you're moving everything is good. One thing is the monkey paw just like the video says would be better if it was removable to get a little more air going but definitely not a deal breaker. The jacket does have some weight event without the liner but it does compress so you can carry it around when not in use. Definitely worth the money hopefully it does just as well when the winter comes in.
