Icon Raiden DKR Boots

Icon went back to the drawing board and pulled out all the stops when designing the Icon Raiden DKR Boots. When adventure calls you need a boot that can handle varying terrain and heavy gear-laden bikes yet be comfortable enough to wear days on end. These boots are the swiss army knife your feet need to survive. The sleek profile, based on GP boots, is mated to an athletic EVA/rubber bottom unit. This combination provides excellent control and feedback while providing all-day walkability for the dismounted rider. The hinged shin plate is backed with a D3O insert for true riding coverage. Dual straps and full rear-entry zip make the Icon DKR Boot very easy to get on and off. Finally, the entire boot has been engineered to meet the requirements of European testing standard EN 13634:2010, including the optional waterproof requirement.

Features:

  • Leather chassis
  • Insulated and waterproof internal liner
  • Dual hinged shin plate with D3O insert
  • Toe, ankle, and heel protectors
  • Metal buckles
  • Rear entry zipper with gusset
  • Stretch Cordura panels

Note: These boots run small, so RevZilla recommends you size up.

Solid boots
Ive had these boots for about 1.5 years now and I find them great. I originally bought them because I was getting into dual sporting and im not an overly tall guy and didnt want a gigantic full length MX style boot. I use them for dual sport riding and have also done some touring/ wet weather road riding in them.

Fit wise they are narrow- i dont have overly large or wide feet and i find these boots narrow and tight but still wearable. I have worn them for as long as 8 hours or so in a day riding without issue. You can wear pants over the boot easily and with adjustment you can fit pants inside tightly. Putting them on is easy with the rear zipper. I normally wear orthotics in my shoes but dont need to with these (and would be able to anyway as they are too tight).

Waterproofing- i have ridden in wet weather long distance & dual sporting, and in the mud and they have remained dry inside no worries. I did get caught out once in the rain wearing jeans tucked into these boots- big mistake (my fault). They basically turned into buckets of water and took a few days to dry.

In the heat they are just like wearing any other boot- i have worn them in summer and i dont recall being bothered by the heat. To me if you dont notice anything being uncomfortable then it means they are comfortable.

Walking in them is stiff so you wouldnt go hiking in them but a walk inside the shop or off the bike for 15 minutes isnt that bad either. I stand on the pegs alot when i am riding in technical bush and they dont cause any discomfort.

After a lot of riding i did find the screws on the side for the shin plate were coming loose (unscrewing themselves from the hinge motion)- i removed them, loctited them and they have been fine so far. Protection wise they are very solid and protect the feet well, the buckles lock tightly and secure.

They should last a long time, as despite the varying conditions i have worn them in they dont show any major signs of wear.
Icon are a solid brand- i own the DKR jacket also and love it but i am too short to own the DKR pants.

Protect your feet with a pair of these!
I am absolutely delighted with these boots!

While firm and tough to get on out of the box, these boots immediately begin to feel more and more comfortable as you wear them in. The rear zipper may seem unorthodox to some, but its super simple to use and the adjustable buckles let you lock everything down tight. The armored sections look and feel tough, and these boots are somewhat on the heavier side. However, you are giving your feet the absolute best protection from pavement and weather for this price range, not to mention getting another top quality ICON product.

I now wear these on my commute every day and I have never felt more protected. Get yourself a pair! A++

Great boots for bad weather
Let's start with what I don't like.
1. There's no tread. These boots slip on wet pavement easily nearly causing me to drop the bike several times in the rain.
2. The foot bed is a little narrow. I don't usually wear size wide, I think it's just these boots

Here's what like
1. Great water protection. I wear these in the rain a lot. At least 300 miles of driving rain and my feet stayed dry, except for some sweat buildup.
2. Stiff. Great on the bike, not so great walking. But that works to you advantage off road. I stopped to take pictures at one place and fell down the bank and into the creek. The boots saved me from a broken ankle for sure.
3. Style. These were the only boots I found that didn't make me look like I killed a storm trooper and stole his boots.

In all I love the boots for their intended purpose. For me that's rain and winter use. I don't know how they are in the cold yet but I have high hopes. I ride more often than I drive and wear these for my ride to work any day it rains, which has been a lot lately. I would definitely recommend These boots for bad weather. Just watch your footing.

love these boots!
Well I've riden for about three or four hundred miles and I have to say my search is over its been really hard to find a boot that fits my big feet I wear a size 13 but most size 13 boots are too small and narrow for my big American feet so I ordered a size 14 and these fit perfectly very happy with the styling and comfort I read a lot of reviews where guys were complaining about the bolts coming loose but it's a pivot point! !A little Loctite on that screw. solved

Solid boot
After a couple days of owning the boot these are my impressions.
It's stiff. Extremely stiff. That is, however, it's intended purpose. It's an adventure boot, you're meant to stand on the pegs in comfort all day, catch your bikes weight with one foot on an incline without rolling your ankle and break trees and rocks with your shins and laugh as your bike falls on your foot because your boot has protected you. It will do that very well.
It's also surprisingly comfortable on and off the bike.

It's also narrow, for me anyways, because I have very wide feet. Taking out the insole gave me a bit more room. I would say that the sizing is spot on, I wear a size 12 and the size twelve has the perfect amount of room left on the toe box.

I am very pleased with the boot and can only imagine that with a week or two to break in it will become incredibly comfortable.

Boots!!!
I ride a street bike but I really wanted to try these because i loved the style and all the features. They are the only boot i have tried that fit true to size. they are however much heavier than other boots i have tried. The watproofing is really nice. The soul is super grippy. The D30 in the shin is a nice touch and i love they they are not full height. I also absolutely love that they didn't put a shift panel on both boots. I hate when they do that!!
These seem like very well built boots and they will hold up over time. They are also very comfortable
Peoplr talk about loosing bolts from the hinge system but it is made that way because the hinge system is adjustable which is awesome. If you want it stiffer tighten it if you want it kushier then loosen it. Just not too much and check it every once in a while to make sure its not too loose. Not a big deal idk why people are crying about that.
The downsides to this boot are that if you have that hinge system too tight when you bend your angle it can kind of dig into your ankle bones. Now this one i know I shouldn't really complain about because these are adventure boots and not sport bike boots but even so i think they could have done this a little better. They are super tall boots in the toe. So it is very difficult to get your foot under the shifter and back out and then on top again to downshift. These boots are like 3/4 of an inch taller in the toe than street bike boots and this was almost a deal breaker for me which really sucks because i love the boots besides that however i think ill be able to get used to it and make them work especially at the close out price of $190. Also the shift panel comes far down the side of the boot so it grips my shifter without getting too far under it.
Overall these boots are awesome and for the close out price i would definitely say got for it just know that they are very thick in the toe area and you may also have trouble shifting
One last thing.having the zipper in the back with the top buckle it bunches everything up in the back. It's not uncomfortable but it looks kind stupid. Also not everyone wears their pants over these boots i know I wouldn't because they looks so cool so the top buckle facing forward no matter what is a horrible design. That is the only thing i would say design wise his horrible and that and the super thick toes is why i did not give it 5 stars

Good boot for the money
I've had these boots for a few months now. I've been pretty happy with them thus far, although I've had some of the same issues others have reported.

-The buckle screws come loose pretty easily
-After about 3 weeks the sole started to come out of the right boot. Shortly after that the left one started coming out and bunching up which is annoying.
-Buckle has to constantly be readjusted. No matter how hard I try not to touch the buckles they are always too lose when I go and put back on my boot.

When the above issues are tightened, flatten out, and the buckle adjusted these are really nice boots. I love the back zipper entrance that goes clear down to the sole. I have road in the rain once, and my feet were dry.

great price, great protection.
After wearing them for awhile the boots started to break in and are very comfortable. However the boots are best suited for cool weather. The bolts that keeps the anti twist bracket has to be tighten every so often.

How stiff are these boots for walking? I had the Thor 50/50 from early 2010's and those were the best boots I've ever had, comfortable to walk and saved my ankles more time than I can remember. On a scale 1-10 being 10 as stiff as a MX full boot, 7 a sportsbike full boot and 1 a pair of sneakers, how would you rate them? Cheers!
Maria del R O on Mar 17, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I would go a 8 for stiffness. You wouldnt go hiking a mountain or standing around a pub. but short stints of walking around a shop or in the bush is fine. and great for riding.
Does this boot provide any ankle brace?

I bought these a 12 and very hard to get on when it did go my heel was rubbing a it and could not zip them up if I go with 13 would this possibly fix the problem if not I won't bother exchanging? Thanks Bryce

What type of liner does it have inside? Is it something similar to hypora ro goreTex which is moisture wicking and breathable?
A shopper on Feb 26, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Hey i tried them on yesterday when i received them! Im not familiar with that other lining but i do kno these felt breatheable and these are insulated/waterproof liners! They're jus a "female-dog" to put on at first! Lol!!! But very comfortable and
How tall are these boots? I see that they are not full height and am trying to gauge if they will give me the protection I'm for. Thanks
William S on Nov 19, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Mid-calf, they are not as high as an off-road only style MX boot......more comfortable but less protection.
Would this boot be to hot in Southern California, during the summer?
A C on Jul 9, 2016
BEST ANSWER: They are not super breathable, but here the temps are high and loads of humidity in the summer and I've not had much temperature discomfort. The interior fabric seems to do a good job at wicking away moisture. Hope that helps!
Are these boots suitable for street/sport touring? Wondering if they might be too stiff. I ride with the balls of my feet on the pegs if that makes a difference.. I'm not opposed to changing my shifting technique slightly if necessary but I don't want to have to lift the whole boot for up shift.
Nolan R on May 12, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Personally, I think these boots will be suitable for your style of riding as they are pretty stiff but still walkable when wearing. I will be using these for street riding but they should perform well for what you want. There is a bit of flex but there is also the two bars on the left boots's upper toe area that the shifter is made to sit in and provides a bit of cradling for riding when standing. If you have any doubts, see if any bike stores have them and give them a feel or perhaps someone else will have another opinion of them. Granted you may have to alter your shifting technique some like you said but I'd give them a feel first and foremost, and see if they are what you're looking for but i personally like the way that they feel. Hope this helps man!
I heard that this boot runs a bit small. I'm usually an 8.5 so should I purchase a size 9? My foot is about 10 inches if I measure it with a ruler.
Gino D on Mar 30, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Hi Gino D .when I received my DKR'S thay were tight when I first put them on. I thought I would have to send them back to size them up . but I remembered that they are made out of leather. So that means that they will brake in by about ten to fifteen percent. So I keep them. After a week or so thay did just that. Now they are the best and most comfortable boots I have. For the money you can get better protection.! Icon has a winer. Chaz.
Will these boots work with full length orthotics?
A shopper on Jun 12, 2015
BEST ANSWER: You might want to call in about that. Or you can take the foot padding out and it will probably fit.
