Saved my skin!!!!
Okay, the Contra is an awesome jacket. First, and most important, I took a bad fall in this jacket and it did its job well. I high-sided at around 50MPH. The jacket's elbow and rear padding took the brunt of the impact. Not to mention I rolled an insane amount of times ***NOTE: I did have the rear upgraded ICON back plate installed!*** The jacket's textile did grind down from the sliding on the street; however, the street never made contact with my skin. Considering the extreme nature of my crash, I expected some road rash to the upper body but had none. I did break my hand though, and rash over my lower extremities. Secondly, the fit of this jacket is a bit small in the chest area. I am 69in tall and 185 in weight--I recommend the large. Lastly, the air-flow is decent considering its stoutness!!! Not to mention the white looks very good. If you're looking for an all around jacket--this is the one!! Buying my second now.

Great jacket for relaxed riding in hot climates
Have upgraded mine with the Stryker back armor which makes it a little tighter and noticeably heavier.

The good:
Mesh is incredibly well ventilated, I commute in the Texas summer when it's 100+ and this is the jacket for it. Style is right to avoid looking like you came from the track and the posture is good for upright or slightly forwards riding. Decent tail converge when leaned over a little but will pull up if you lay on the tank. Elbow and shoulder armor is good. Front pockets are big enough to hold a set of glove liners plus wallet phone etc. Relaxed enough that you can stand up straight when off the bike without unzipping.

The not as good:
Sucks in cold weather. The liner is completely useless and will not keep you warm below 60. Not a big problem for a hot weather jacket but don't buy it thinking you can use it all year. The cuffs are awkward, too big to go under a gauntlet and too small to go around it. Not an issue if you ride with shorties or a casual longer glove. There is no keeper for the zipper at the top so mine will very occasionally comedown an inch or two if I leave the puller on to be caught by the wind. Included back pad is flimsy.

Great Jacket Overall: Sleek Style, Nice Fit
After comparing numerous jackets in the Icon line of textiles, and ultimately went with the Icon Contra in all-black as I love the design and the features it listed.

I am 5'11", 225 with a bodybuilder frame (48' Chest, 33' waist), so sizing was naturally a concern. I ordered an XL after reviewing the size chart and seeing that this features the 'Sport' fit. Ultimately, it turned out that it fits a little snug if the thermal liner is in and seems to be just right with it removed. I have been riding without the thermal liner as it was purchased in late April and now is Mid May here in Nebraska, so temperatures have ranged from 50-82 thus far. The sweet spot without the liner for me seems to be between 65-75. Below 65 and it gets a little chilly at night, but wearing a thin crew neck makes it just about right. At the higher temps, it has been comfortable so far...as long as you keep moving. If you're in stop and go, it gets a little toasty, and I don't imagine this being very comfortable when it gets 85 plus so I will be getting a lighter jacket.

The 'Field Armor' feels to fit just right and adds that added sense of protection without feeling restrictive. The material feels just 'heavy' enough that it seems like it will last and hold up in the event of a slide. Overall, I really dig this jacket and tim will tell just how comfortable it is as I wear it in a wider range of temperatures, but I would have to say out of the gate, it appears to be best suited for Spring and early Fall weather.

I would recommend this jacket, and for my purposes, I will be sizing up to a 2XL for the Icon Sport fit for future jackets. I mention this as when reading reviews, that is the biggest concern of mine as athletic builds are tricky for purchasing apparel. Hope this helps and happy riding!

Great Jacket, Looks Great, Seems well made
If you are looking for a jacket that will give you peace of mind, protect you in a crash/slide and look sexy through 2 1/2 to 3 seasons, look no further.

TRUST THE SIZING CHART!
I'm 5' 11" @ 155lbs and I was on the fence between a M or L.
Here in Michigan we have a pretty short riding season most years so I decided on a L to layer a fleece/hoodie under it and I made the right call, with a hoodie it fits pretty snug, but doesn't affect my movement, without the hoodie or liner it's slightly loose, but not loose enough to pull up in a slide or flap around in the wind. If I wasn't going to layer up I think a M would have been a perfect fit and that's what the sizing chart said as well.

I haven't had a chance to ride in hot weather yet so I can't comment on heat buildup, but yesterday I walked outside without a hoodie, just the liner, a big gust of wind hit the front and I instantly felt air circulate through the entire jacket except the spine area.

As far as Con's go it's not too bad.
1# The spine protector is a joke... I got this jacket last week and the day I received it I came back to revzilla and bought an Icon D30 spine protector. The elbows and shoulders are field armor as well and they seem sturdy, but I'll probably upgrade them to D30's in the near future just for good measure.
2) As others have said you will find occasional loose threads that appear from nowhere, the few I've found I just knotted and clipped the excess. Not a big deal and fairly common with a one week old textile jacket.
3) Pockets... I haven't read any mention of this yet, but the pockets have a funny aspect to them. I always wear gloves while riding, most of the time I use Icon Hooligan mesh backhand gloves with high airflow. On long rides I warm my off hand in the front pocket of whatever jacket I have on, If you do the same this will be the biggest Con to this jacket. The front pockets on the Contra are made entirely of fighter mesh inside and out, actually the majority of the jackets airflow comes from the abdomen area and is pulled through the front pockets making it impossible to warm your hands in them at speed. I will most likely find/make a removable fleece pocket protector for colder rides so I have the best of both worlds, but it's something to keep in mind if you go on lengthy rides.
4) Could be a pro or con depending on your preference. The collar around the neck is pretty short and loose, it doesn't have any strap/velcro to adjust it either, so there isn't much in the way of neck protection from wind/bugs. However, that also means the collar isn't going to rub on your neck and give you irritation.

All in all I am very happy with this jacket and as long as it protects me #if I slide/crash# I will buy another one when it's time.

For sizing reference the attached picture is the jacket with the full sleeve liner and just a T-shirt underneath it and the helmet is the Icon Alliance Dark.

Im happy with it.
Before I ordered this jacket I was set on buying a sports bike so all my gear was centered around that well I changed my mind while bike shopping and went with a 1300 cruiser as my first bike and even on a cruiser seating position this jacket fits perfect. I live in Northeast Florida so it heats up and because i was borderline 2x-3x I called the guys at Rev and asked about fit sorry to say I cant remember the dudes name but his suggestion was spot on. First thing he asked was will i be wearing it in the winter months I told him yes he said if you wear just a shirt under it with the liner in it with the 2x it would be snug but if i went with the 3x I could layer it and I was at first worried when I put it on how big it felt with no liner but noticed that the armor stayed in the right places and that even standing still i could still feel air blowing through the jacket.

During the winter months the vest liner offers some air blockage and even with a thin sweat shirt under it there is still air blowing between the zipper because the liner doesnt fully cover the front but with layers it still fits comfortable. So anything under 50 F its unbearable.

The 2 pockets work well on each side but i do wish they would have put a little pull tab attached to the zipper to make it easier to get into with gloves on. As for the internal chest pocket its good for a phone thats it i have a glock 42 and even as small as it is, it doesnt fit all that well that why i use the side pocket hence the pull tab. Overall I love this jacket and i wear it everyday I ride.

Great fit, style, and protection for the price
I picked this jacket because of the style and because a friend of mine was able to vouch for the durability and protection. He dumped his bike doing 40 around a step turn and slid for about a hundred feet. The jacket suffered some minor abrasions to the elbow but my friend was fine, picked up his bike and finished his ride home from work. I saw some comments that questioned the materials the jackets made of and I can say it's very heavy nylon throughout.

As for the fit, I'm 6'0", 215 lbs, with a 44" chest and a gut big enough that I really don't want to measure it. I bought a large and it fits me very well. With the liner, it feels like a sport fit. It's also long enough to cover everything I want covered when in a full tuck.

The only criticism I have is the back protector. I upgraded the foam pad immediately, choosing the D30 CE back protector. Even though it's also Icon branded, it doesn't seem to fit very well. It's not looking enough for the protector pocket and moves around a bit.

Other than that, no complaints. It's a great jacket and I really don't believe you can do better for the money. :)

Awesome first jacket!
I purchased this jacket in white. It fits perfectly! The regular fit is nice, but it is a little bigger than I expected. So when I take out the liner it feels a little loose in the arms, but that's just motivation to hit the gym. I love the jacket! I know I asking for it by getting white, but I wont mind washing off the bugs and dirt it accumulates. The liner makes a big difference in the jackets comfort as well. It's great for night rides in the cooler temperatures, and not too thick for day time rides in the Texas heat. If I get too hot, I just remove the liner, but the jacket feels much better with the liner in it. The inner zipper pocket is a nice spot to keep my phone/wallet, and I can feel better about leaving my keys in my front pockets since they have zippers. The rubber guard on the bottom is a nice touch to protect from scratching up my tank too! I also feel better with the CE approved elbow/shoulder pads. I do have the stryker back pad as well and just removed the one it came with.

Great jacket, great style, good value!
I live in Southern California and needed a warmer alternative to my mesh jackets for winter riding and I didn't want a "real" winter jacket. This was a good choice. It has a full thermal liner but when the temps are in the 50's, I usually have a windbreaker and/or thermal shirt under it also. It does allow some wind flow due to the small chest vents (hence the windbreaker). I normally wear a medium and that was the size I bought. It fits snug (as a sport jacket should) but not tight. The back of the jacket is a bit longer than the front so when I'm on the bike, it doesn't creep up. The only thing I don't like about the jacket is that the front of the collar is too tight against my neck when it's zipped all the way up. That's minor though and I think guys with bigger chest probably would not have this issue. For what I wanted, I don't think there is another jacket out there at this price point that's anywhere near as nice!

Great outfit (not just protection)
At first, I say I wear a size S, and this thing come a little larger at S, but it will fit another sweater inside for me, so comes in handy, especially the winter is coming. I've been riding with this jacket all the time and on two long trip.
comfortable and the vent is perfect, it might be hot for a hot day, but who cares, it's for the fall lol.
I haven't tried its protection, also I don't want to anyway, but I believe that it's great.
