Best of both worlds
This jacket is my first experience wearing something with armor in it. I'd previously owned a Harley branded coat - that was very well made and durable ...but didn't have armor...and since everyone on a motorcycle wears Harley stuff ..I had long ago given up wearing it except on very cold days. So basically, I've been wearing whatever leather (or jean) jacket I had sitting around - and with no real protection other than "it was a coat". I had been admiring the Roland Sands stuff - beautiful styling and leather colors, fit, etc. but generally speaking, I'm not a every day leather jacket wearing sorta guy (other than riding a bike) - so buying a $600+ leather jacket wasn't that exciting to me because I knew I was only going to wear it when riding. Also, and this might sound crazy, but I was a bit nervous about riding somewhere, taking the jacket off..and having it vanish. So, after getting excited about nice style and the idea of armor ...I wasn't sure what was going to get the job done. Thats when I found the Icon 1000 Vigilante (I hate the name by the way - it sounds way too dopey biker gang for me). This jacket looks better in person than it does online. And while it doesn't scream out style because its somewhat monochromatic in color tone ... the different textures of leather sleeves and a 'jean-like' chest and back make it stand out a bit. I'm 6'2 and 190 lbs - and bought a size Large. It fits like a glove! I would say this is NOT an all weather coat - I've ridden on a few 40 degree days and wished I had a sweatshirt on underneath - but I'm excited about wearing this jacket in warmer weather assuming its going to be quite comfortable. I really dig the armor - and in fact, am now wondering what the heck I was thinking riding without it for so many years. My only issue with this jacket is that others are going to discover this coat and then I'll start seeing clones of me riding around. SO DON'T BUY THIS JACKET!

Previous reviews are spot on!
I received this jacket last week and feel that the previous reviews were very accurate and helpful in my purchase decision. In particular:
- the jacket looks great! Really sharp.
- the exterior fabric is high quality but pretty stiff.
- the leather arms are also high quality and are soft and a nice flat color (not shiny).
- the interior liner is lower quality than the exterior (some loose threads, etc.). I will need to be careful removing/cleaning the liner.
- the arms are a little tight around the forearm.
- the armor is nice to have and isn't too noticeable.
- the fit follows the sizing chart. I am a 38" chest and 32" arm and the medium fits well.

A couple of additional comments on fit. First, the fit and sizing chart seem to include the liner. So on my jacket, it fits nice and snug (not too tight) with the liner in. It's a little looser with the liner out (not too loose to be annoying, but not as nice of a fit as with the liner in). So you might want to adjust your sizing decision based on whether or not you intend to use the liner. Second, I have an athletic build with a 32" waist, and the shoulders/chest fit better than the waist. There's some extra room in the waist. The jacket doesn't have a drawstring to tighten up the waist.

Classic style, unbeatable price.
I purchased this jacket as my first riding jacket and I am so glad I did. I initially had purchased an Icon Textile Overlord jacket because it was the best value jacket with full 5 protection pads that I could find. I ended up not liking the style and overall fit so I went with this beauty.

First off, it is incredibly well made. I can see that it is hand-stitched at points and the attention to detail is second to none. The leather used for the arms is thick, soft and pliable. The style is amazing and to my eye would work on any bike or in my case, 2 wheeled conveyance. The bang for your buck factor is off the charts. I looked at many other jackets similarly and higher priced that were not as well made.

Second, the protection sits right where I want it to. On the textile Overlord I found the elbow pieces to be too free-floating and it bothered me enough to return it. On this jacket they are all snug in the right place. I can't even tell there is a back piece when I'm wearing it.

For sizing reference I'm 6'3", 225 and muscular, broad of chest and shoulder. I found XL to fit as perfect as I could hope for.

Great 3 Season Jacket
This is my first jacket. It took me a long while to decide on a jacket as I had many needs. The first was safety.
I wanted a jacket with armor on the shoulders, elbows, and back. This jacket not only has armor, but comes with D3O armor.

The second reason that I chose this jacket is that I like to ride an assortment of different bikes and wanted a jacket that I could wear on any of them.

You can wear this jacket on a sportbike or on a harley and not look out of place.

The fitment of the jacket is perfect.
I have an athletic build and am 5'9" 195lbs and chose a size large. I normally have a very difficult time finding clothes that fit because my shoulders are broad and my waist is small.

I would buy this jacket again.

Great protection, comfortable and stylish.
Bought it about a year ago, decided to write an overview after yesterday's accident, which I had with my CB600F7 and a guy on Mercedes ML, he just forgot to keep the distance and as a result I had to slide the asphalt about 10m. So the protection was great and I didn't notice the hit on my left shoulder at all (for info: I had almost stopped before the car hit me to the rear wheel), thanx to good leather sleeves external damages are hard to see after the slide.
Concerning the air flow: I used to wear it during last summer city riding in Kiev Ukraine, so it wasn't very hot while I was moving with no heavy traffic, but I would offer Icon designers to add 2 ventilated false pockets as they were on the predecessor - Strongarm model.
Some words about waterproofness: this modes wasn't declared as a waterproof, but during this spring I caught a small rain while riding, and the only thing that was poorly wet after 30min riding was my chest, all the rest of the jacket was dry.

Awsome!!!
Order a size larger. I buy everything Large, but when the jacket came it was way too tight. So I had to exchange it for an XL. The return and exchange process was quick and painless. I shipped the small one and got the new one within a week.

took a spill in it yesterday
after I took a drop in this jacket yesterday, Im sure it saved some bones from being broken thanks to the elbow and shoulder D30 armor. My only gripe was the quality of the leather, it rubbed raw and exposed how slim it is. Im assuming not full grain then.

First motorcycle jacket
I've never had a motorcycle; thus I've never had motorcycle gear. However, even though I have nothing to compare it to, I can say the jacket is very comfortable and feels like a very high quality build.

First off, I like the style. The herringbone really makes this jacket stand out. I was looking for something semi-sporty but have a "vintagey" feel. Check and check.

It's surprising, at least to me, that this jacket comes with the D30 armor. When I first tried it on, I didn't realize that I could shift the armor around to make it form to my arms/shoulders. After discovering that, perfect fit. I will mention that the nylon part of the jacket (everything but arms practically) is a little stiff. I'll have to wear it some to see if it loosens up any. Even if it doesn't loosen, it's not uncomfortable.

The included liner is a bonus and, obviously, removing it gives you a little extra wiggle room.

Sleeve length is a tad short for me but that's only because I have over average arm length for my height. I'm 5' 9" and 158lbs. I would try the small but I have pretty broad shoulders and they MD fits me there. Going down a size and I think I'd have "bunching" when on the handlebars.

I also really like the Icon 1000 Charter jackets, but the price tag...not so much. I think this jacket is a really good second choice for the more budget minded.

Overall, seems like it's amazing quality at a really good price point.
