Good, but could be better
After about a year I decided to leave a quick review on these Icons. I really like the design and features. It has been really durable and reliable to me. It is stiff yet comfortable and it keeps my foot with that secure feeling given the leather and construction are sturdy.

All in all there is only one complaint, and to me it is a big one. The sole on these boots are extremely slick, almost to the point if you are in grass, gravel or any surface with water or slicker than regular pavement you will have a hard time keeping your balance and moving your bike backwards to get out of a parking spot or something similar. To me it makes it dangerous. Additionally, I have noticed that the rubber used as the bottom sole is also flimsy. It has come apart around the edges.

If Icon change the sole design and rubber compound I would keep buying these boots year after year.

Best riding SHOES i've owned yet
If you want real protection go get some full lengths boots. But if you need something to skip around town on errands or attend an event via moto, this shoe is awesome. Normal boots just always felt awkward to me at an event or gathering, bulky and stiff. So I wear these a lot now when just on a casual outing. Pretty good protection for looking pretty casual.

A little expensive (more than some full length boots!), but build quality is excellent

On the picture, my aftermarket shifter is way sharp, can cut you, and literally tears holes in normal sneakers. This shift pad thing is actually doing really well, some roughing up of the surface but that thing is thick!

First Motorcycle Boots - Content
Background:

These are my first pair of motorcycle boots.
I wanted something I could walk around town in and not look like motorcycle gear.
At the same time, I'm very safety conscious and wanted adequate protection.
From my research, I'd need to look at the shoe/sneaker category and these Icons really stood out for their protection level.

It really boiled down to two shoes, the Icons and the TCX.
I opted for the Icons on personal taste as I believe it will work with different styles of gear going forward.

My two pain points with this are the price which I feel are slightly justified with the styling but primarily the protection.
The second pain point is that these boots have a tendency to look quite wide around the lower laces.

Walking - Comfort,Ventilation:
When I first got these, I couldn't wait to put them on and go for a walk (Hadn't done my MSF course yet).
Being in NYC I walked a full day over 10 blocks.
Although they can look heavy, I cant say this was an issue.
I wore Timberlands quite regularly and those are very noticeable on weight, these Icons however are not - yet they offer a ton of protection.

After a few more days of walking prior to the MSF, they were quite comfortable and it probably helped to break them in a little bit before riding.

Its worth noting that it is/was summer in NYC and was extremely hot.
The shoes had okay ventilation and I didn't feel like my feet got toasty at any point.
No blisters either so I'd say as a shoe I'm happy with it.
I got size 10.5 which is exactly the same as my regular shoes. The fit is perfect.

Riding:
When I took the 2 day MSF course I was excited to put these boots through their paces.
Of course I was concerned with whether this was a good choice and I didnt want to be "that guy" wearing expensive gear (These boots and some Icon pursuit gloves).

As I had hoped, the boots were suttle enough not alot of people picked up on them.
However I had a couple guys compliment me on the boots asking where they could get them.
It was reaffirming to hear that one of the instructors had previously had a pair and referred to them as great boots.

During our course we experienced some rain and these kept my feet super dry.

After the first day of riding it felt as though the tongues on the right foot were giving the top of my right foot a bit of pain.
This I believe was due in part to the rear brake of the bike being at a very extreme angle which required my foot almost pointing directly down when on it when applying the brakes.

As part of day 2 I tightened them up more and the pain from the previous day was gone and not an issue.
I'd refer to the pain as one when you have had a full day of skiing after leaning too far forward on your boots.

Also it was important to note that after the rain, the finish on the left foot did look abit scuffed after operating the gear selector.
On day 2 after it dried, I gave it a quick wipe and it became less visible.

Overall:

Great boot and I look forward to getting more riding time when I pick up my bike in the coming weeks.
Every now and then I pair them up with some black jeans and take them out for a walk to somewhere fancy in the neighborhood.

I'd rate them and I hope the purchase price let's Icon and other companies know this is shoe/sneaker space is one to take seriously and develop more products for the space.

All around good boot
Product: Icon 1000 Truant CE Boots

Purpose: I got these boots when I first started riding this summer because I needed boots that covered my ankles for the MSF course I was taking. I was looking for a pair of boots that fit my riding needs, but also looked casual with a pair of jeans as I mostly ride into campus for classes. I definitely recommend these to any other causal/commuter rider that’s looking for a boot to match.

Durability: After the summer riding season, a small amount of fall riding and coming up on the spring season it might be a little early to comment on the durability of the product, but I have been very pleased so far. None of the stitching has come out yet. The leather, while I have scratched it a few times, has held up well. The strap hasn’t torn or ripped. The soles are durable so even with the riding they haven’t lost their tread.

Comfort: On the motorcycle they are extremely comfortable. At first I was worried that they might be too bulky and effect how I operate the shift lever, but they work well. Having rode in both heat and cold I can say that they’re nice in both. I didn’t notice my feet becoming overly hot in the summer, or becoming overly cold in the winter. The real plus is off of the motorcycle though. I practically wear these everyday as my normal winter shoes. I don’t imagine that many motorcycle boots are comfortable enough to wear and walk around a large college campus in, but these ones certainly are.

Price: When I first started looking at boots I thought the price was high, but after looking around I lightened up to the price tag. Especially since they could be casual, because a lot of the options were large boots or racing type boots, which is something that I was really looking for.

Conclusion/TL;DR: This pair of boots should fit any rider’s needs, but will be especially loved by the casual or commuter who’s looking to rock these with a pair of jeans or something similar. The comfort level of these boots should allow you to walk around without pain and the durability should allow you to do this without having to replace them from over wearing, because you’ll find yourself wearing them over your other non-riding shoes before long.

Quality, but doesn't come cheap
They look great, they are comfortable for riding boots. Good airflow, but nothing incredible. I like the lacing being tucked under the shoe so nothing can get snagged. Holding together well. The only downside was they were a bit pricey. Still very satisfied with what I got.

Commute
These are great boots if you tend to use your bike to go all sorts of places, then walk around or hang around for a bit.

They are great for the ride, and great to keep on your feet while you attend class, or whatever.

After 1.5 years of heavy riding (about 10k miles) they have started to break down on the bottom. The grip is still there, but I dont know if they will last through next season.

Overall: looks are great, most people dont even realize they are riding boots. Comfortable, and dry out quickly.

I think I just need better rear sets...

Fit with everything, feel wonderful
My first thought when I put them on was, "Wow, these are surprisingly comfortable!" They are also surprisingly protective and surprisingly good looking. I'm a 26 year old snowboarder/wakeboarder/motorcycle rider. These fit very nicely with almost any wardrobe style I'm in. They look and feel like designer shoes that you paid over 300 for.

The oil finish means that as you get that black shifter mark on your left toe, it really blends in and adds character rather than ruins it. Ordered my normal size, perfect fit. The price I paid feels very very reasonable for what I got.

A bit on the pricey side, but they look great and offer the protection you need.
I purchased these last season in the brown color. Black was on back order for quite some time so I opted for the brown and have been impressed on how nice they actually look! I have had many compliments on how nice they are which is weird hearing comments from other guys about my footwear... Anyways, they fit great and I have actually worn them when I wasn't riding, they don't fatigue your feet like some riding boots do. I did high side last season at about 30mph and they did their job well. I was recovering from a sprained ankle and I didn't have any pain after the crash. The only thing that was damaged (besides my ego) was the buckle on my right foot was slightly bent in on the strap but was easily bent back. While they are a bit pricey, they were definitely worth the money!

Totally awesome!
Bought these for my MSF course. Zero experience as a rider and no expertise on gear.

Wore these shoes for 18 hours over the 2 day course and my feet never once felt sore, hot or tired (even though the rest of my body was complaining). Was a very warm day and I was sweating by my feet stayed dry. Soles have good traction but are nice and flat to allow movement on the pegs. The strap keeps the laces out of the way...no dangling.

With so much else to concern myself with, I never once worried about my feet or my ability confidently access the bikes controls.

I wear an 11 street shoe and bought an 11. Perfect fit!

Buy these boots!

Wanted to ride with something that has some armor and abrasion resistance while retaining some casual aesthetics.. regular sneakers just don't cut it when you need some protection. After seeing these in a store, I fell in love.. they remind me of nnike airforce ones from the future.

How effective is the ventilation from the perforated leather in hot 80-90 degree weather?
A shopper on Jun 12, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The perforated leather isnt the main airflow. The recessed tongue is the main point of airflow. And when your foot is on the peg the leather above the tongue crimps slightly alowing more airflow.
How are these different? they don't list any different features or materials. They are the same price so i'm curious as to what the change is.
Creynolds90 on Apr 1, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I just got the CE version, granted I don't have the prior one, these have reinforced armor under the leather at the toe box and heel. There is also some reinforcement at both sizes of the ankle. I do wish that they had some protection on the lateral foot. They're flexible and easy to walk in.
Hello I wear a Size 12 In NIKE Air Max shoes what size would be recommended in this shoes?
A shopper on Sep 6, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I would probably roll with the Size 12 because I wear the same size in Nikes as I do these and they fit perfectly.
Hey does the CE rating change anything about the boot? or does it just stamp the rating on there.
(add more protection, etc.)
A shopper on Mar 14, 2014
BEST ANSWER: From what I understand CE is kinda like UL (which would be for electronics and whatnot) so it is a certification that they meet minimum safety requirements for a particular level of protection.
Hi, i'd like to know if the INSIDE of these shoes is flat to the ground or if when you put your foot in the heel is raised up? Thank you

I have a pair of Elsinores that after some break-in, fit decently. How does the Truant boot fit compared to the Elsinore?
Thomas Ryan D on May 13, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Revzilla is the best online store I have ever used, I returned my boots, because they were to wide, I just couldnt get the middle of the shoe tight enough my foot didnt feel like it wasn't moving around in the shoe. Other reviews talk about wide feet fitting these boots, personaly If you foot is narrow these wont work. I have other Icon stuff and these and the El bajo(I also returned) are great looking and very well made, however the boots dont fit my feet. Love Revzilla
I wear Euro 44 and on most shoes i've got (Adidas, Nike, Etnies ....) the US size is 10 (on some 10.5). I am trying to figure out which shoe size should i get on these Icon Boots, any suggestions?
Nikolaos P on Dec 23, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I have a short stocky foot. I usually take anywhere between a 42-43/8.5-9. I ordered both sizes and surprisingly, the smaller size fit my foot a bit better. They run pretty true to size and are a spacious durable boot. They were secure with good feel and control. Plus they look great! The sole does show signs of wear as i apparently drag my right foot when starting off. I recommend this shoe!
Whats the weight? how does it compare in weight and safety to the dainese technical sneaker
A C on Mar 30, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The boots are pretty light, I don't know about other riding boots but I wear a lot of work boots and the icons are much lighter.
There's no such thing as "CE Rated". The Icon website makes no mention of these being CE anything. Can someone shed some light on what this actually means? The CE agency is very particular about documentation, so can someone provide something to elaborate on "CE Rated"?
Philip P on Jun 9, 2015
BEST ANSWER: CE, EC & NE rated accreditation all mean the same thing which is an item is held to a European community standard that the item will operate as designed, plus an implied 'a bit more'.

In motorcycle wear CE means if you go down & are sliding down the hiway, CE rated chinos & flannel shirts will give you more protection than standard chinos or flannel shirt, to varying degrees.
