Based on the design of the Elsinore Boots, the El Bajo have the same Goodyear welt sole and buckles, but in a shorter package for when full size boots just aren't convenient for the mobile masses. Metal post fasteners, heavy top-grain leather chassis, and reinforced toe box and heel make for a serious piece of riding footwear

Features:

  • Top grain leather upper
  • Goodyear welt construction
  • Icon cast metal buckles
  • Icon stamped metal heel plate
  • Heat pressed leather shifter panel
  • Heat pressed molded leather shin plate
  • Axialmetric steel shank
  • Medial YKK zippers

El Bajo or El Guapo?
My original intention was to get a pair of Icon's Elsinore boots because I have lusted over them since they first came out. Once I had found enough change under the couch cushions I realized that I needed to be honest with myself: the Elsinore boots really require a level of confidence that I just don't possess. Why get boots that go so far up (and look awesome doing it) when I know that I'm not the kind of person that would feel comfortable tucking my pants into them? After all, the Elsinores deserve to be on display for all the world to see. So, until my assertiveness training classes kick in I think the El Bajo boots are the way to go.

I ordered my Bajos in brown, mostly because I'm into browns, tans, and earth colors and also because it looks like the black boots kind of hide the details. And details there are...these boots look awesome. Style-wise, about the only thing I would change would be the color of the thread in the stitching. From the main product photos on Revzilla one might think the thread was tan but it is actually yellow. Not horrid but a curious choice. At least that yellow thread appears to have been stitched very well...studying my boots as I write this reveals no problems in that regard.

I find the boots to be comfortable for the most part. Like other reviewers have mentioned, they are pretty stiff out of the box. For some reason my right boot initially hurt the inside ankle bone after a couple hours, though after breaking the boots in for a few days this has diminished. One area that Icon could work on is providing more padding on the upper inside part of the boot. There actually is a pad near that area where the boot zips up but it is positioned in such a way that it didn't help my poor tibia. In any case it looks like the boots loosen up if you just give them a few days of wearing them around (glad they have the kind of styling where you can do that and not look like a space cadet).

In the box with the boots is a comically large instruction manual. I didn't read it but I assume it must cover a bunch of languages because it seemed to be about as thick as my motorcycle owner's manual. A nice touch by Icon is the inclusion of some replacement hardware, including an extra metal heel plate.

After a week of wearing El Bajo I noticed a few scuff marks around the toe, but this isn't a bad thing...I get the impression that the boots will look even better with a worn-in appearance like a favorite leather jacket.

The two leather straps and buckles on each boot are functional...you can tighten or loosen them (3 holes on each strap) to get a better fit. My boots arrived with the straps buckled in the middle hole and that seems to be the best place for me. Because of the zipper on the opposite side of the boot the straps are a set it and forget it kind of deal...the zipper is all you need bother with to put on or take off the boots.

These are now my favorite good weather motorcycle boots (no idea about their performance in the rain and I hope to never find out). I recently traded in my BMW K1600 GTL for an Iron 883 in order to get "back to basics". The downside is that it can be hard to find boots that match the style of the Harley and aren't your typical black motorcycle boots. These fit the bill perfectly and look great both on and off the bike.

Keep in mind that because these boots are from Icon you won't be earning any Zilla Cash. I had forgotten about this and was thinking that with these boots and the Roland Sands Barfly gloves I also ordered (see my disappointed review of those) I would have $10 in Zilla Cash coming my way. It stung when I learned I was getting none at all, but at least the free shipping and great Revzilla customer service (should you need it) help.

Stylish, comfortable, functional, fit like Vans sizes.
My only complaint is that my ankle feels a little exposed and unprotected. It's not, though. It's covered about two inches above the ball of my ankle, and while I have an unbelievable range of motion in these, there's actually quite a bit of support.
Soles are grippy, just cushy enough to mitigate vibration, and hard enough to protect against junk on the road while you're stopped.
They're super comfortable, and while I wouldn't go hiking or wear them on a construction site, they're not too bad to wear all day in the office or cruising around a bike show. or mall, or coffee shop, whatever. They fit like my Vans sizes, but they feel like a brand new pair of combat boots, even after breaking in.
I can shift and feel the shift just fine. I don't feel like I'm hunting for the lever, or can't find neutral. They stick to the pegs like glue, and after a hundred mile day they still feel as great as when I put them on fresh out of the box.
As to style, you either like 'em or you don't. The pictures don't do them justice, but you won't get any surprises either. I have them in brown, they look good in jeans and they don't ruin the break in my slacks at the office. Someone said the yellow is obnoxious, but it's really not that bright. It blends with the brown leather without standing out, although I do think it's reflective. Cause you know, safety or something.

I likes 'em
I read many reviews prior to purchasing the Icon El Bajo boots. Many talked about sizing issues or shifting issues. I must not be as fussy or particular as some of these reviewers as I wear a size 10.5 and these fit perfectly. Also I have had no problems shifting.

I got the brown boots since that's what attracted me to the boot in the first place. And the convenience of setting the adjustment buckles once and then using the zipper to slide in and out of the boots is a BIG plus!
Gettem and you'll like 'em too!

Solid cruiser boot
These have been my only riding boots for a little over a year now. I do not recommend them for anything approaching an aggressive riding position, as there's no tightening system, so unless you're a heavier guy with some thickness to your ankle/upper foot area (and probably even then) you're going to get some heel lift with this if you ride in an even somewhat aggressive position. Other than the heel lift they fit well, so I know I didn't just buy too big of a size.

They're very stiff and bulky, with a large toe box.

I got these because I wanted boots that worked on and off the bike. Other than a bit of regret due to the aforementioned heel lift, these fit that bill. I get a lot of compliments on these just walking around, and they're comfortable enough after you add an insole. I got them in brown, which in my opinion is the clear choice here, and putting sno-seal on em gives a great rich dark brown tone to the leather.

Stylish and comfortable boots, but will they hold up?
I just got these boots and have taken a few 200+ mile rides in them. So far they are breaking in nicely as I am wearing them both on and off the bike. After the first decent day of riding the left side leather began to show wear from the shifter which is not a big deal, since that is what that part of the boot is made to do. I am hoping that these boots will hold up long term, but I have no experience with them as this is my first pair of Icon boots.

These are very stylish and have good protection but because they are low cut, they do not give the same feeling of protection as you would get from a full height MX boot or a road/race boot.

I would recommend these boots to anyone who is looking for a stylish boot for light riding, or commuting to work and then wearing the boot at your job. You will get lots of compliments from riders and non-riders alike. This is more of a fashion boot than a "real" riding boot but I really like all the safety equipment and solid build technology that Icon has put into this boot. Nice work Icon. Stylish and protective for light riding.

Great Boots!
I chose these boots because I ride a cruiser and didn't want one of those sporty looking motorcycle boots. At the same time, I didn't want a boot that screamed "I ride a cruiser!" either. I was in the market for a low-key boot that I can throw the cuff of my pants over and stroll when not riding. These boots fit the bill.

I wear a 13, ordered a 13 and they fit. They were a bit snug and required a break-in period. I wore them for two day them had to take a break for a day then another couple till they broke in.

They fit perfectly with no extreme tight spots. I can do a fair amount of walking around maybe about 10 blocks or so before they start to rub the back of my feet raw. So much so that the lining in the heel of one shoe has rubbed away.

I was wearing timberlands before I got these (new to cycling) and there is a huge difference. These boots are stiffer and absorb a lot of the vibrations from my bike and insulated my feet better.

Overall, great shoes. Be sure you wear some good thick wool socks as well. This helps with comfort!

Good boots, sturdy soles, look good
I was looking for boots that didn't look too much like riding boots. My Sidis look goofy when I strip out of my riding gear. The El Bajo boots hit the mark pretty well. They are obviously not typical work boots but look pretty good with jeans and a tee. Not as obnoxious as the Sidis anyway.

Great soles, thick leather, well constructed.

Only complaint: they hurt me in the ankle a bit. Not terrible, and I suspect it will get better as they break in more.

Good, not great, but stylish.
I waited and waited for these boots to become available in my size in the brown. Finally when I was about to give up, boom, there they were online. I immediately ordered, and with usual great service got them in a few days. The boots arrived and looked fantastic. The buckles are a cool look at, but getting a perfect fit is tough given the few options to cinch down the strap. The toe height was a bit taller than the pictures seemed to show. This ended up being the problem for me. The boot would not slot easily under the shifter of my Triumph Thruxton which has an aggressive sport position. Without looking down at my foot to get the severe angle I would have to fumble to get it right. Unfortunately, that's no way to ride and will need to return. Bummer.

Amazing Boot
These boots look great and feel great. They are a bit heavier than a normal boot but that is because of the heavy leather and metal buckles. NOT PLASTIC and PLEATHER! I wear a 9.5-10 and grabbed a 10 since I ride with moto socks not normal socks and they fit perfect. Adjust the 2 buckles and use the zippered side to put on and take off. And they fit under the gear arm of a Hypermotard. No adjusting needed.

Check them over carefully when you get them.
The first pair that I received were missing the lower detent on one of the buckles. It looked like it was a problem with the casting. I returned these and the next set that I received had the same problem. I contacted Revzilla customer service about it, and they kindly returned the boots for me and discounted the next pair that I ordered. These arrived in perfect condition and have been excellent in every way for riding. They are stiff, comfortable, and the toe box is quite large. I wouldn't suggest these if you need to be really precise with your shifter, but on my Triumph Scrambler or any bike with a lot of room around the shift lever, these boots work very well.

How wide you say the boots are? I need at least a EEEE in width.
A shopper on Oct 8, 2013
BEST ANSWER: The boot is a little roomier in the toe-box than a normal shoe or boot. I seriously doubt they are quadruple E.
How tall are the heels?
Jon L on Feb 27, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The heel is about an inch tall and 6-3/4" total height from bottom to top of the boot
Generally ICON boots have run 1/2 size small; is that the same for this boot?
A shopper on Sep 17, 2012
BEST ANSWER: In my case I've found that the size 14 boot is an "ample 14". They allow me to wear a heavy sock and still have room in the toe, heel, and width. So for the larger foot I'd say the sizeing is accurate.
What are the weight of these boots?
A shopper on Aug 31, 2012
BEST ANSWER: Thre Icon 1000 El Bajo Boots weigh 5.3 pounds. I'm what you would call a Big guy and 5 lbs are an after thought. For someone under 175 lbs they may feel the weight a bit, but they are well worth every once when you on your bike. They are comfortable, sturdy, and can take any hit or scuffs you can throw at them.
I, unlike most people apparently, have very narrow feet. I wear 11.5 in Converse/Adidas Sambas (because those are the only shoes that fit well. Are these boots too wide for me?
Timothy M on Nov 15, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I have narrow feet also and don't find them wide at all
How water proof/water resistant are these boots?
Daniel M on Aug 19, 2015
BEST ANSWER: They are water resistant. But since they are so low, there is a good chance water will get in the top unless you have tight fitting rain gear to seal against the boot.

i would not buy these as a touring boot.

Great for day trips and walking around.
Hey, what kind of Waterproofing does this boot have?
A shopper on Mar 23, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I rode through a rain storm (city and hiway), and my feet stayed dry. They are leather, so you could add waterproofing to them to ensure they shed rain better. The bigger issue will be that they aren't that tall, so unless you a waterproof outer layer, water can get in from the top.
I wear 11 in Converse....and 11.5 in Redwing, what's my size?
A shopper on Feb 3, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I wear 9.5 D regular shoe. My icons are also 9.5 and fit perfectly !
How breathable are these boots?
A shopper on Mar 30, 2016
BEST ANSWER: They breathe just fine, although pretty closed leather. I believe due its short ankles.
How tall are the heels?
A shopper on Feb 27, 2015
BEST ANSWER: they come up about 2 inches above the ball of your ankle
