Awesome Modular Helmet!
I've been looking for a modular helmet for a while. The price of the Shoei Neotec 2, was a little to high for me. I was looking at the Schuberth C3 Pro, I loved the metal quick connect chin strap, but was worried about the venting.
I bit the bullet and ordered the HJC RPHA 90 Pro Tanisk Helmet in Black and gray. I love the helmet. It's replacing a old worn out Shoei RF1100.
The venting is comparable. The outside shell size of my large HJC is smaller then my large Shoei. It feels lighter in my hand compared to my old non-modular helmet. My vision seems a little better, or the same.
I only have two complaints. The only review videos on You- Tube, was in Europe. The helmet came with the metal quick connect chin strap. When I received mine from Revzilla, I learned the American version has the D rings. I will live with my choice. The other, is the visor or shield. It has a pin lock visor that comes with it. Which is great, and one of the selling points on it. The second complaint is the lock on the bottom of the visor. Its in a great location, however, when you open it to "city mode," the lock on the visor is right in your line of sight. You can see through it, but it's distracting.
Wind noise in the helmet was minimal. I don't know if it's just my helmet, or if it's a design flaw, but when my top vent is open, you can hear it vibrating.

Very impresses with the helmet
I have decided to move to a modular helmet and debated between the RPHA 90 and the Nolan N100-5.

Started with the Nolan. While it looked well constructed and high quality, the fitment was not good for me (even at one size up) and it felt a bit stuffy inside (My chin touched the front bar and the sun visor hit my nose). Also the closure mechanism was a bit difficult to operate.

So... I have decided to try the RPHA 90. Just for reference, my other helmet is a Shoei Quest which is a very well made and comfortable helmet.

The good: Lighter than the Shoei and way way quieter. When you close the lid I was very surprised how quiet it was. Full of features. Sun visor is AMAZING. At times i wasn't sure if it was down or not... so clear. Very easy to operate with gloves. I also caught some hard rain :-( and it help very well. Installing my Sena on this helmet was a breeze (unlike the Nolan that has a more challenging structure). I did a 300 miles day trip and helmet was very good and on highway speeds was a bit more stable than the Shoei.

The bad: None so far. I feel a bit of pressure on the forehead compared to the Shoei but i think that after the break-in period it will be very good.

For reference I am 6 ft tall and ride a large ADV bike.

Ride safe!

Good modular for the price
For context: I ride a Concours 14 with an X-creen tour on the stock windscreen. Helmet is replacing a Schuberth C3 Pro.

Fit - True to size chart. Snug around the sides feels oval to long oval

Comfort - Best fitting helmet I've ever had out of the box. Plenty of cushioning inside. Rode for 5 hours, left the helmet on for the first 3 with no issues. YMMV depending on head shape.

Aero - no buffeting looking straight ahead but there was noticeable pressure on the sides during head checks

Venting - Top vent worked well. After the initial rush of cool air when first moving off I no longer feel air moving but the helmet does not heat up. Front vent only vents to the shield and no air hits your face when the shield is locked. Work around is to close the face shield but not lock it and a small stream of air can come through if there is enough wind pressure

Noise - (I always wear foam earplugs) Average in the wind stream but the quietest helmet I've ever worn when behind a windscreen and the air is moving above the helmet. I would not want anymore noise blocked out for fear of not being able to hear traffic. The helmet fits snugly on the sides and that probably contributes to noise levels being so low.

Vision: Side to side is great. No distortion in the face shield or drop down visor. Vertical field of view is OK but another 1/4 inch off the chin bar would make it easier to see instrument cluster

Quality - Good overall. Helmet functions well. These are small nitpicks but HJC needs to decrease some of the tolerances. The drop down visor is fine wile riding but will rattle with each step when off the bike. Vent covers on the outside. They are easy to use but are too loose in my opinion which may cause the top vent to rattle if it's in turbulent air. (still not sure if this is what I am hearing, it could just be turbulent air entering the vent). It's not loud by any means but feel it should be mentioned.

Pros: Great helmet considering it can compete with helmets that cost $750+. Comes with pinlock style anti fog visor. Drop down visor is smooth, has a detent to hold it in the up position and does a good job of knocking down the glare. Has speaker cutouts. HJC not forcing you to use a proprietary comms unit is a plus in my book

Cons: Tolerances are not tight enough for a $420 helmet. Center locking mechanism is in your line of sight when using the city position so I end up riding either visor closed or fully open. US version gets D rings instead of metric locking system and lack of colors so far in the US market.

Overall although the C3 Pro is higher quality the two helmets are close enough in function and features to chose whichever fits better in my opinion.

while its quieter and lighter than my nolan 104 it has some wind noise . much better air flow, I don't think you could find a better helmet without spending twice as much money.

After the RPHA 70 (before i had a Schuberth C3) im not happy with this helmet. Fit is not so good as the rpha 70 but this is for every one different. Size S is to small and Sizte M to large. RPHA 70 Size M was perfect for me.

Features are good and the helmet is light. But... its so noisy.. :( My old Schuberth C3 is a lot quieter than this.

My Hope was, the RPHA 90 is like the RPHA 70 but a modular helmet.

Couldnt wait
I just bought this helmet today and have not rode with it yet, will do that tonight after work...but just wearing it at the office I can tell you that it is the most comfortable helmet I have had on my head yet! It is also extremely quiet with down and the extra chin guard is on. Very easy one hand controls and both the visor and the chin guard operate easily with one hand, with or without gloves. It does come with a clear pinlock which is a huge bonus and the drop down visor is smooth and quiet! for the money this is a high quality premium helmet that will not break your bank. Definitely worth the money and I am so happy to finally have a quality modular helmet that does not give me a headache and is quiet and this is also very light for a modular too!! it really is the total package and HJC has nailed it with one!!

the left side of the helmet looks to be a bit cramped, with the sun visor switch... would I be able to mount my SENA 30K there?
A shopper on Aug 15, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I mounted my Sena 20s there. It was a little tricky running the wires but it works well.
I like the Revzilla orange stripe and it matches my orange BMW ;-) But how is the fit of the helmet for someone running between 62-63cm? Nolan N104 and Schuberth C4 were tight in the forehead, so want to know what the internal shape of this helmet is
