Good quality helmet for its price.
I'm not sure how much value is in my review since this is only the second helmet I've ever purchased. The first helmet was an Icon Airmada that I returned immediately.

Right out the box the helmet looked great. The vent features and channeling give it a race helmet look and over all at first glance looks like a high priced helmet. The shape is round/oval and perfect for a big head like mine. I had tried on the helmet at the Kawasaki store and knew I needed an XL helmet. At first the fit is very snug but after breaking in the pads the fit is perfect.
It feels very secure and provides a decent amount of ventilation. The ventilation is good in certain areas but not in all areas. Even though there are two top vents, the crown and upper rear area of your head will not get good ventilation. The face area gets great ventilation for on cold rides its a little too much. I also purchased the chin curtain (highly recommend). The curtain blocks allot of the wind and debris from flowing up into the helmet. Even with the front (mouth) vent closed. There is just way too much air flow. The inside of the helmet where your mouth is has absolutely no padding at all. Its just plastic. So with the excess air flow and nothing to filter the air, your face gets cold.
The helmet isn't heavy and doesnt limit your mobility but when wearing a padded jacket it does get hard to turn your head.
Aside from this the only other issue is the face shield. At first there were three levels that you can choose when opening your shield. Level one was just barely open about an inch. Perfect for getting extra airflow. Airing out at red lights and defogging.... Level two was half way open. Level three was fully open. No after 2 months of use level one is no longer an option.

Pros
•Styling
•Fit
•Protection

Cons
•Air flow. (excess in face, and chin)
•Noise
•Shield positioning

Although I've found some flaws, I would definitely purchase another HJC helmet in the future.

I hope this helps.

to snug
The helmet is appealing for its appearance with graphics. I wish it had built in shades. The size I wear is normally an extra large in the HJC brand but this one is snugggg in a 2x.

Love It!!
I originally bought a GMAX helmet that was too big and bulky so I upgraded to this helmet. Best decision ever! I love it, It has so many vents it's amazing. Sometimes it feels like I'm barely wearing a helmet. Have ridden with it all day and no neck pains, the visor doesn't fog up even without the pinlock shield. It can be a little noisy when going over 70mph but compared to the other features and feeling of this helmet I can accept that. No pressure points in the helmet or anything. I ordered and XS because apparently I have a small head and it fits great, I have more or a square jaw line and on oval head so it worked out well. I get lots of compliments on this helmet. Would definitely recommend this product.

Hard to beat this value.
I wear a medium CL-17 Redline when riding my '85 Yamaha XJ700 Maxim. After reading many reviews, I found it to be the least expensive helmet that still boasted a Snell 2010 safety rating. It's comfortable, and fits great. It looks great, and also cleans up well after murdering a lot of bugs. It's probably not the absolute quietest helmet, but certainly not louder than any other options in this price range. Overall, I am extremely pleased with this purchase and can't imagine riding without it!

Great helmet, especially for the price.
The HJC CL-17 is my favorite helmet that I have owned in 12 years of riding. The helmet was only about $20 more than cheap helmets I have owned in the past, but the quality is on a much higher level. I ride in Egypt currently, and even in the Egyptian heat, the helmet's ventilation performs well.

Love the helmet...
So I'm getting back into riding after years of being away and picked up my first helmet, which sucked badly. I then come to RevZilla and found the CL-17 Redline (in blue/white). This helmet came quickly, fit perfectly, is quiet, has plenty of airflow, looks great and is quite safe for the dollar value. Both DOT and Snell - that's nice and for the price you can't beat it.!

great starter helmet
I am new to riding and was looking for my first helmet. After lots of research I finally decided on this helmet. I didn't have a lot to spend but wanted safety and comfort. This is one of the few helmets in this price range that is both Snell and DOT certified. They just upgraded the interior with better liner and padding and more ventilation. I got the XL and it fits great. A little too snug at first but its feeling better after just a few rides. I have been riding in about 65 degree weather and its vented well and I have had no visor fogging at all. My bike is not super loud and I have not gone past 40mph yet, but so far noise has been very acceptable. Great fit and finish as well. Highly recommend this helmet for a great bang for your buck helmet.

Great Helmet for the price
I bought this on closeout for just over a hundred bucks and well worth every penny. I have a very round head and after consulting with ZLA's experts they recommended this HJC. It's a bit heavy and can be noisy at speeds above 50 mph, but at this price point there isnt much to complain about. Side note: I have a Sena that fits perfectly into this if you were wondering.
