Givi Dolomiti 36 Liter Aluminum Panniers

Givi Dolomiti cases are aesthetic refinements of the tank-like Givi Trekker Outback series of hard cases. These feature similar aluminum construction but the rounded corners and central carrying handle suggest urban and suburban utility instead of Dakar exploits. This pair of Dolomiti cases uses a single key to secure your belongings and the removable lid features tie down points for expanding your carrying capacity. While the Trekker Outback series requires specific racks that are only produced for a select crop of adventure bikes, the Dolomiti cases are adaptable to any Givi Monokey side case racks. A pair of quarter turn fasteners within each case secure the panniers to Monokey-series racks using a supplied adapter.

Features:

  • Dimensions: 54cm L x 24cm W x 39cm H (21.3" x 9.4" W x 15.4" H)
  • Volume: 36 Liters
  • Material: Aluminum
  • Max Load: 10kg (22 Lbs)
  • Includes quarter turn adapting plate for Monokey side case racks
  • Sold as a pair

Note: Monokey side case racks and top cases are sold separately.

perfect for the FJ-09
It would appear these were made with the FJ-09 in mind...much better option than the stock bags and for about the same price. I just hit the road with these and the complements won't stop. I prefer the clean lines of these over the Outbacks which - except for the webbing strap holders - I have a hard time believing are any more rugged.
Very secure and go on and off easily.
The removable rack from Givi is also a gem. You're going to have a hard time convincing me there is a better set up for this bike.
I don't see a lot of improvement to be made here... the ABS mounting points seemed a bit dubious, but are pretty solid. Maybe some metal webbing brackets instead of the ABS ones, but that's nit picking.

Excellent new line of givi
I have a great luck, since I always wanted an aluminium cases but was so over priced and didn't like the rack of outback either. I already bought the monokey rack... so I jsut could buy givi or kappa cases... And suddenly givi start this new line! that will fit my actual rack... just little difference on price from the plastics monokey and are aluminium!

I'm very happy with the product, finish and quality. Givi keep failing on how they ship the product, one case have inside a bag with the adapters for the rack. This bag arrived open and all the screws and parts jumping around inside the bug scratching it everywhere. I particularly dont care, its the inside! and I plan to do my own scratches there. but there is a lot of people that will take the product back since they bought a new thing and want the thing to be new... without scratches.

Anyway. I had problems installing it. One nipple from the rack (original quick release givi rack for super tenere 2010) its a little shorter than the other (the part where the nipple fit on the rack its a little inside than the other one) in both sides of the rack. (On right side of the bike is the nipple near the end of the bike, and on left side of the bike is the one facing front). First I tried to put the cases and the lock will NOT be lined... I forced a little and I understand that one side of the case will not go down as it should be. That is when I realized the nipple. I just take the nipple of, put a washer and put the nipple again, and that is, the cases fitted perfect on both sides.

Besides that, are great cases, awesome price, and you can fit it in any givi (or generic with a little adaptation) monokey rack. I just need to test the water resistan part, for the rest its a Go :) thanks for reading and happy riding!

I recommend them, but you need to know something.
These cases are REALLY REALLY NICE! They are well built, great finish, light - seem strong. The Givi racks are solid - dare I say and economical leader! I am not a professional reviewer, but needless to say, I am VERY PLEASED with my purchase with ONE minor, but annoying exception.

As these use the MonoKey PL/PLR racks, with an "adapter", there are a couple of issues you need to know about. 1 - the pins strike the racks. It's slight, it's trivial, but if they just bent them a LITTLE different, life would be better. Now, here is the one that annoys me REALLY bad. On the back of the adapter, there is a light plastic cover that is supposed to look pretty. It is held on with two MICROSCOPIC screws. It goes into inexpensive cheap plastic. If you twist 1/4 turn too far, it breaks off and you are done. It's sad such a GREAT product has such a cheap finishing touch.

I would up my rating, ease of install and fit and finish if it were not for this cover being such a piece of crap.

I contacted Givi USA and they are trying to find me one, but that being said - buyer be ware. They indicated this is not a spare part they are selling.

I will - if it gets worse, fill the back with JB Weld, drill a tiny whole and make a stronger (usable) solution!

After much research...
I'm glad I bought these bags, even one with one fitment issue (more on that in a minute).

The Dolomitis on my 2014 VStrom 650 are replacing a set of Givi E22s that are nice but just too small.

I had looked at a ton of bags including the Trekker 33s and 46s. the 36L Dolomitis are my Goldilocks and three bears perfect fit... neither too big nor too small. I also like the more rugged styling, better lock, trustworthy weatherproofing and four-point attachment of the D's over the Trekker. it takes hair longer to get them off of the mount than a traditional monokey, but the bags stay on the bike almost all of the time anyway.

It's the new attachment system that gets me to the fitment issue. I heard that the Dolomiti bags would not fit my bike because of the side handles. That seemed odd because the verticle line from the side mounting plate, on either side, was well away from the 2-up grab handles. Swapped out the wedge top mount on both sides -- the plastic filler nubs are a bit of a headache to get out of the Allen head bolts -- and installed the flat plate new mounting top for the Ds. No problem. The bags fit.

What doesn't fit is one of the plastic backers for the new top hardware mount. The right side (exhaust) is fine. The left side backer won't fit around a portion of the frame supporting the bag. The easy solution is to trim off the forward third of the plastic backing and use one, rather than the two anticipated, small attachment screws on that side.

Four stars instead of five on "bang for the buck" only because the price is lower if you're willing to get them shipped from overseas. Revzilla-trust was a reason to pay more as was their great customer service. (props to Sokrady in Philly).

Four of five for the install because those little plastic nubs in the Allen heads were a longer point of the install than anything else.

Bottom line: Nice bags. Reasonable price. Expectations met. +1 for Givi.

I liked that the cases were symmetric but the racks are not! I was hoping they were so that I could use that space to mount a gas can but since there is a very small space I'd recommend going with the outback cases instead and gain the additional space. Other than the rack issue these are great cases and I really liked that they came with an extra lock cylinder to key your top case so all three work off one key.

What is the empty weight of one Dolomiti 36 ltr side case?
Robert H on Mar 22, 2017
I see that these fit a PL532 rack with an included adapter. Does that mean it will fit without the adapter on PL532CAM racks? Is there an advantage to one rack over the other?
Rick R on Sep 20, 2016
BEST ANSWER: They do not fit the PL532CAM racks.

BEST ANSWER: In my personal experience, yes they are. I have them on my Super Tenere, and have ridden through plenty of rain, without any water accumulating inside.
Does the top lid hinge open and stay on the bike....or does it always require it to come off the main bottom case when you open it and want to get something out of it?
Jeff K on Jul 11, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The hinge remains secure when open unless you specifically choose to release it.
I have Givi easy lock bags on my bike....someone told me that the Dolomiti side cases will fir the easy lock brackets with an adapter, is that true ?...I have a 2016 650 Versys
jim n on Aug 26, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Hello Jim, I just purchased the Dolomiti side cases for my 2015 Triumph Tiger 800 XRx and had similar questions as there are very few reviews of them. Good news is they fit perfectly with the Givi PLR6401 Rapid Release Racks. Not sure which racks you have but they are suppose to fit with a much wider range of side racks than the Trekker models. Hope this helps, good luck!
