How it should have come from the factory
Except for being a little high priced, this is the perfect mud guard for the adventure bike rider who has more aggressive tires and does some off-road riding. Good clearance even with an aggressive tire (50/50). Very easy to install and retains stock chain guard. Also looks amazing on the bike and really protects the rear spring and most of the rear end for dirt and mud.

Givi rear mudguard ok for on road use
Purchased the Givi rear mudguard for my 2016 Triumph Tiger XCx to keep dirt and debris off my rear shock and underside. Seems well made, and fit with no problems. I needed to use the longer bolt that was included where you mount on the right side of the bike underneath the rear brake cable mount. The rest of the bolts I was able to use stock. The color of the plastic also matches the bike plastics as well, the guard is more of a matte finish (I have the all black Tiger). With the stock tires on there space above and to the right side of the tire, however, to the left of the tire near the chain guard there is little room left for a bigger or off road tire.

On road it has worked very well and kept debris off the bike. I plan on someday using the bike off road, and guard may have to come off to accommodate a dual sport or off road tire. I also would be concerned about going through a lot of mud. I think that it would collect very easily between the mud guard and the tire. On gravel at speed, it would have to be tested to see if it would hold up.

Overall a good buy to keep dirt off the underside, but wish that it wasn't as expensive. Should be like a $50 part, not a $150 part.

Not for off-road use
I bought my first one and got about 3k miles out of it. It was mainly used on the road. I went trail riding in Wisconsin and after about 20 miles I started to hear a noise coming from the rear end. I discovered the brake side snapped off at the bolt and it was only being held on by the chain side. I took it off and ran without it for awhile.

I just got back from a trip riding the Colorado BDR. Before the trip I decided to give it a try again. Riding through Weston pass I could hear again the loose noise coming from the rear. Found it broke again in the same spot. I couldn't carry it with me so I had to just throw it away. In order to warrenty it it has to be sent to Givi. For 150 bucks I expect more out of a product called a mudguard which is meant for off-road.

I would have given it 1 star but it's good for onroad use so I gave it 2.

Would you recommend this for off-road (mud) riding? Is there enough clearance between the guard and the tire? Also I am running a 50/50 tire.
