Givi AF6403 Airflow Windscreen Triumph Tiger Explorer 1200 / 1200XC

This stylish, well-constructed replacement windscreen features improved height and shape with top-notch quality. Features clear tint and precision-cut shape. Overall height is 20.8", maximum width is 20", with approximately 4.75" of extension. Specific sliding wind-screen, transparent, complete with fitting kit.

The AIRFLOW is the most versatile Givi windshield to date.

The adjustable spoiler allows the rider on the fly to easily and quickly make adjustments. Made of transparent polycarbonate, the adjustable spoiler is infinitely adjustable along the 4.75" (12cm) of travel. Once the desired setting has been selected a simple and secure clamp will keep it in place.

The design of the AIRFLOW system creates an aerodynamic effect that eliminates turbulence, allowing for maximum protection from wind thus reducing rider fatigue.

Another important feature is the ability to reduce AIRFLOW to the rider to increase driving safety while raining: the "spoiler effect" reduces and, can at times, eliminate rain from collecting on the visor and reducing vision. During the warmer days the AIRFLOW spoiler, can easily be removed allowing travel with only the lower part of the windshield as well.

Features:

  • 21.7" H Max x 17.7" W
  • Plexiglass acrylic lower & polycarbonate upper
  • Transparent with Black masking

Watch Out for Flying Windscreens
I've owned this windscreen for four years. The first three I had absolutely no issues with it, with the possible exception that the top part scratches REALLY easily. Other nit picks are: It could be a little wider...I get some buffeting. It be a little taller. But it is hands down better than OEM. Now for the main reason I'm writing: I HIGHLY recommend that you construct a tether for this product so that the top windscreen can't come off. Let me explain: Like I said, I had no issues for the first three years, but last summer, when I was headed to Colorado from San Antonio, I encountered some very strong head winds. As I was traveling along a two-lane highway, a strong gust of wind it me and in a flash, my windscreen was GONE! I was going about 65 or 70. Fortunately I was able to recover it undamaged, reattach it and continue on. By the way, the pinch clamps were tight. Several months later, my wife and I were returning from a day ride. We were traveling on the Interstate at about 70 mph, when the windscreen came off again. This time it was destroyed by vehicles behind us. I bought a replacement and mounted as per instructions, making sure the pinch clamps were properly adjusted. Everything seemed fine and I had no issues for many months. About 3 weeks ago, I took the bike out for ride in the hill country near me. I was riding a two-lane road and encountered some slow moving vehicles, so I passed them. While in the process of passing, (I may have gotten up to 75 or 80) when my windscreen came off and hit me squarely between my eyes. I hit my glasses which in turn cut my nose to the bone. I had blood covering one lens of my glasses, partially blinding me. Fortunately I don't panic easily and was able to get passed the cars, signal, slow down so that I could get off onto a grassy shoulder (another fortunate thing...there are many other places that would have been difficult to get off the road safely). I recovered the windscreen intact and returned home to get my nose fixed. I was black and blue for a week. I decided that this can't happen again, so I built a tether. I wish I could post a photo of it, so you could see how it's constructed, but basically I purchases some thin wire cable from Home Depot and a couple of cable fixings, nuts, bolts and washers. I formed loops at each end and use cable clamps to secure the loops. I drilled a hole in both the top and bottom screens, near the bottom of each and attached the cable at each end, leaving enough slack for the windscreen to adjust about an inch, but not enough to come out of the bottom screen. It is hardly noticeable, but now I can ride knowing that top section will never hit me in the face again. Oh, and yes, I ride with a full-face helmet, but I refuse to ride with the shield down, unless the weather is bad...may as well be in a car otherwise. Please consider doing this to yours, for your safety.
