Reviews & Questions
Unzipped, the shaft is very roomy - unlike women's fashion boots. After a full day on my feet, they felt roomy in the toe box, which I loved and the look will totally blend in at work or on the bike. Didn't walk in them for fear Zilla will think I had them on outside, but immediately felt like they would work in sport riding position (on my ottoman anyway). There is a slit on the rear boot shaft to allow flexing without cracking the leather. However, the mid foot front and sides are so loose they just get all bunchy in the sport position. The shaft doesn't sit fush on my calf but rather seemed to large for it. For new boots in a full size smaller than my normal 10/42 to be this "baggy" around the middle section will just get more so when broken in. In an actual crash, they could potentially slide out of place or off my foot entirely. I love that there was a malleous (ankle bone) protection plate, but the toe - while stiff leather art of the way, did not feel thick. The sole had a very thin raise treat but it felt pretty cheap considering the cost of the boot. I understand the sole may have venting somewhere, so maybe that was why they were lighter than I;m used to. These just don't fit tight enough to warrant keeping. I almost wonder if these were modeled after a mans foot and calf size. If you have thick feet and calves, these might work for you. *For perspective, I have now had 3 motorcycle collisions - 2 with cars, 1 a with 56,000 truck. 2 of 3 I had engineer or ankle boots. The one time did not, a car turned right in front of me from the left lane and, after my aversive move, it ran into my leg and ankle below the knee. Had a deep bone bruise which was painful and worrisome enough to never ride without boots again. I may try the Forma Cooper sneaker style boot, since I like the idea of a normal looking performance minded boot. But I really came to love the confidence I felt wearing the TCX, though it's not the prettiest, but it was a solid perfect sport bike boot. Good luck in your search gals.
Bought them on a whim, as I couldn't find any others that looked like they might be comfortable and protective for all around riding and walking. Received them just before we took off on the trip. These boots are awesome. They went through heavy rain---feet stayed dry. They are very comfortable in the heat and cold. Walked up the side of hills, down to the rivers, up and down stairs---wore them 85-90% of the time. The other shoes that I brought were Cabella's flip flops. The next year we went back up, and we’re going back up again this summer again with only the boots and flip flops. Extremely comfortable. I wear a size 9 women, and bought a size 41---and wear thin to medium thickness socks. I can’t imagine them coming off in an accident, as the are constricted around the ankle with a “bellow” on the back of the boot.
I have thin calves, and there is extra room around the shaft, but not bothersome where it “taps” against your shins when you walk. The gator is none existent in being aware of it.
I’m not on a sports bike when wearing them, but I think they would be very comfortable in that position, especially once they are out of the stiff mode (which isn’t much).
Overall, I am extremely happy with these boots.
