Firstgear Heated Gloves

There's nothing worse than trying to operate your bike with cold, numb fingers. Bulky, unheated gloves make things even tougher by reducing feel, reaction time and complicating operation of the controls. Firstgear's Warm and Safe heated gloves feature heating throughout the entire glove, while maintaining the thinness of a summer glove. The gloves plug directly into the jacket liner, or an optional separate wire harness, allowing riders to adjust the temperature of the gloves independently of the jacket with a Dual Heat-troller.

Features:

  • DC-heated, produces 15 watts of heat at 12.8 Volts (each glove) and should be used with a Firstgear Heat-Troller for optimum safety
  • Y-Harness is required for use with Firstgear Heat-troller (unless you have a Firstgear heated jacket liner, then this is unnecessary)
  • Grade-A, top-grain, drum-dyed cowhide construction
  • Porelle breathable, waterproof membrane
  • Thinsulate layer
  • Pre-curved fingers and finger-mounted, rubber faceshield wiper
  • Elastic wrist and adjustable hook-and-loop gauntlet closure
  • Reinforced protection in palm
  • Reflective piping on top

Note: Palm is not heated.

I can't feel my face!
I could, however, feel my clutch and brake levers! The real test was an Iron Butt from Washington DC to Miami FL while headed to Key West. 2013 was an unusually cold November. When I left on Thanksgiving morning it was 19*f at 4am. I never saw above freezing until I hit Fayetteville NC and it was in the low 40's in Titusville FL.
Granted, I had the whole heated ensemble- liner, gloves, pant liner and socks but I kept toasty warm the whole way. Over 1,050 miles and cold was one thing I didn't think about.

Pretty Good
Rode from eastern VA to Kentucky and back. Surface temp 25F don't know what interstate windchill was. Gloves made it possible for me to complete my ride although I was hoping for more thorough heat coverage. Only the back of the glove is heated leaving the palm cold if you don't have heated grips. Also, there's a terrible cold spot on the heel of the palm. As you hold the grip, unless your gloves are VERY snug, the upper inside surface lifts away from your skin, leaving it chilly. I do recommend them though, well made material, strong, and flexible once worked a bit. Wouldn't go so far as to say "summer weight", though. My ride may have been too far below their temp rating. Probably great for temps in 40's up.

No warranty coverage from First Gear
My wife bought a pair of these three years ago. (not from Revzilla) She only rides maybe 10 times a year. Before the end of their first season the left glove failed--no heat. We returned them an they were replaced with another pair, but they filed the same way--left glove-- failed again after 10 uses. We returned them again thru a local motorcycle equipment dealer, but First gear refused to repair or replace them as they are now "too old". Mind you they look almost brand new and have never even been wet. Buy the Gerbings if you want warranty support.

A top heated glove
I like the fact that these gloves are well insulated. Combined with the electrics it makes for a VERY warm glove. My only complaint is that the gauntlet could be just a bit larger to better fit over a jacket sleeve.

Good gloves with average warmth
These gloves keep me warm when the temp is in the 40’s, but are rather cold in the 30’s and I don't consider them to be warm enough to use in the 20's. I’ve found them to be more reliable than the Gerbing, but not as warm. First Gear’s Tech Support is much more knowledgeable than Gerbing’s Tech Support, but very hard to get a hold of. Just finding the number is hard.

Great gloves
The gloves are going great. They are the first piece of heated gear I own but slowly getting the rest. The only thing I would suggest is maybe going a size larger. Until I broke my gloves in I could feel the wire over the knuckle of my middle finger when holding the grip. Overall great glove and I would recommend them.

I really want to like these gloves, but ....
I purchased and use the FG jacket liner and really like the jacket liner. The jacket liner fits me snug and keeps me nice and warm down to the 30's.

The gloves on the other hand is less than perfect fit. Not really any problems with the gloves itself but I am in between sizes. I like my gloves snug and wear size Small/Size 8.The FG gloves Small is too small, (index fingers & thumbs too short) and the medium is too lose.

In the end I purchased the S/M glove liners and that works better for me,

Revzilla is awesome about returns. Props there.

Great gloves. The left seems to heat up more than the right but I truly love these gloves. I ride in Oregon and they are perfect. The left gets a bit warmer but my right hand is quite comfortable. Velcro straps work well and the leads are long enough to manage the connection with the gloves on. No more Freezing hands!!

Works as stated
I bought these to use with a Powerlet liner and dual wireless controller and they are compatible. Only tried them once in moderate cold, high 30s to low 40s F and was satisfied. Don't know about performance in extreme cold, never ride at below freezing temps. Fit is accurate but gauntlet is a bit small, barely fits over an Aerostich cuff but do-able. Also, like all winter gloves I've tried, control feel is poor. I guess there are always tradeoffs. Still recommended.

Works great. I've been wearing this for 4 years now. Coldest was 19f for 8 hours. Yeah.

These are well made, comfortable winter riding gloves that will definitely make your ride more enjoyable. Only downside is the fact that it only heats the back of your hands and fingers. How much more could it have cost to make both sides heat? Still pretty happy with them...

IN WESTERN CANADA STARTING OUT IN THE MORNING IN THE SPRING TIME FOR THE BEGINNING OF A LONG RIDE, YOUR HANDS GO FIRST, ESPECIALLY THE FINGER TIPS. DOESN'T MATTER WHAT YOUR WEARING FOR REGULAR GLOVES, AS CIRCULATION WILL DECREASE WHEN YOUR HAND AND ARMS ARE HOLDING THE BARS STEADY.
STEPHEN R. C on Dec 6, 2015
Wore my old pair out. This were very warm. Used them in 17 degree weather, and my fingers didn't get cold.
Timothy J on Oct 19, 2015
Riding in the cold, 32F or less in early morning, on the interstate at 75-80 mph gets the hands cold fast with no wind blockage at all. These help tremendously and would recommend them to anyone. They are bulky and make it harder to feel controls and all but between that and having cold hands which give the same effect I would definitely pick these gloves. I do not feel wind through them and the fit over my jacket sleeve making it great at blocking the cold wind.
jeffery p on Apr 6, 2015
Great glove comfortable, warm, durable. Am I missing something? The next First Gear glove up from this is great to. This pair is for my brother. Mine are two years old and been thousands of miles in below freezing weather on my motorcycle. No issues.
Robert W on Dec 25, 2014
Ride all winter, gotta have warm hands. These are adequate but could be great if heat was all over including up near gauntlet.
Joan D on Nov 11, 2014
Powerlet does not make a glove only a liner. If I buy a liner I would have to buy a larger glove to fit since I did not buy my other gloves accounting for the extra liner thickness. Besides Revzilla out of my size in Powerlet liners and it is being closedout.

I'm getting electrified for winter riding here in northern New Mexico. I'm hoping that from what I've researched that these will fit the bill. I plan to use them attached to a Warm & Safe Gen 4 Heated Jacket Liner.

I already own a Firstgear Jacket and heated liner. I really enjoy Firstgear products.
Juan D on Nov 13, 2013
The +Venture battery powered heated glove liners that I've used for the last couple of winters fell apart because of the connection to the battery that must be removed each time it needs to be charged. I decided that instead of replacing the battery I would invest in some real heated gloves that are likely to last a good deal longer.

Will these first gear heated gloves work with a Harley Davidson heater liner? THANKS!!
A shopper on Nov 22, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Harley Davidson rebrands and resells Gerbing, First Gear equipment will not work with Gerbing equipment, they are different.
will first gear and gerbing heated adapters and heat controllers work with each other?
A shopper on Mar 25, 2012
BEST ANSWER: Yes they will.
Do these gloves have heating elements on the back of the hands and through the fingers?
jibuu on Nov 23, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Yes, they heat the backs of the hands and fingers. I've been using my gloves daily on my commute. They are warm but never get hot. I have a Road King with no hand protection from the wind. I would say the gloves are good into the low 40's perhaps even the high 30's. Not as warm as the Gerbings but more reliable.
Will this glove work with the Synergy 2.0 jacket liner?
Con Man 1400 on Sep 30, 2014
BEST ANSWER: As far as I can tell from watching the video of the Synergy 2.0 jacket liner, the gloves should work fine. The connectors appear to be the same but just check to make sure they fit correctly. I note from the video that the jacket has a dual controller which is necessary to enable separate control of heat output to the gloves independent of the jacket. The setup works very well for me and makes cold weather riding so much more enjoyable. A word of caution however: When i purchased the jacket and gloves I owned a Yamaha V Star 650. If I ran the controller too warm the alternator was unable to keep up with the power required and I would end up with a flat battery (90 watt jacket). I now own a Kawasaki Vaquero which has had no problems keeping up with the power requirements, it has two alternators I believe :) (great bike!)

Best of luck.
I'm purchasing these as a gift. If he already has the heated glove liners and I want to replace them with the gloves I wouldn't need the Y harness, is that correct? Also, I 'm debating on the regular heated gloves or the Carbon heated gloves. The Carbon seem like they would be bulky, does anyone have any comment or advise on that?

Thank you!
A shopper on Dec 17, 2013
BEST ANSWER: If you want to use these gloves instead of the liners, you simply unplug the liners and set them aside then plug in the gloves. Nothing more needed. I've never tried the carbon gloves so no comment on how they compare. I will say, though, that my Firstgear heated gloves are LESS bulky than all of my other non-heated winter gloves. My other winter gloves are now used for walking the dogs and shoveling snow. My Firstgear gloves are the only ones I wear for riding on cold days anymore.
