Excellent fit and styling.
After many returns of my first choice of jackets, I ended up with this one by default due to sizing......I was kinda out of options. I am 6'6" inches tall, weigh 325 lbs and due to being and ex bodybuilder, my chest measurement and arm size is always restrictive with regards to clothing.
I received this jacket and it fits like a glove. The fit chart was spot-on.
Excellent styling, very functional and it seems silly to pay for some of those "high-priced" jackets if all you pay for at the end of the day is the "label". This jacket has most (if not all) of the functions of those "high dollar" jackets and does what it is supposed to; keep you dry and warm. Well see how the fall protection stands up to the challenge but I don't intend on testing that feature. After all, the aim is to keep the shiny side up while riding.
Good job FIELDSHEER!

Worth every penny
I spent over a month researching a multi-purpose jacket to get me through most of our seasons in mid-west (except snow!).

I finally concluded that I was going to have to spend a bit more than I had originally budgeted in order to get something that had all the features I wanted. These were:

Water resistance
Included protective inserts for arms and spine
Multi season liner with zip in sleeves (on the cuff)
Reflective but not bright yellow or orange
Solid coverage up to neck with neck attachment or scarf for cold weather

This jacket had them all. After doing a bit more research, Revzilla had a great price and free shipping and a great return policy, so I bought the jacket.

Even though there was six inches of snow on the ground when it arrived, I immediately tried it on and it fit perfectly. I'm 5'11" and 220 pounds 46 suit and the XL fits great.

My first ride in this was a relatively warm 60 degree day we had here (for March). It was sunny, no wind and I took about an hour ride around the back roads. The liner was removed, so this was just the outer shell. I was totally comfortable in this set up at 60 degrees. I could easily see this jacket working up to 75-80 with the vents open.

I was finally able to cold road test this weekend and it totally lived up to my high expectations. It was 39 and windy when I went to pick up the bike from storage and I was dreading the ride home. I was so nice and warm in this that I was able to ride around a bit extra and enjoy the day. Even the full gusts of wind that pushed me back in my seat did not get through this jacket.

Great fit, many pockets, nice attention to detail on zippers, connections for liners, and more. This jacket has it all and it looks great too.

Enjoy the ride.

Very good looking jacket.
Riding in coastal India, at about 28°C ~ 40°C (when it is not raining), this jacket is comfortable and keeps cool ONLY with all vents unzipped. And with heavy rains 22°C, keeps you dry in rain, but at this temperature, its sweaty inside, specially with the vents zipped and the rain liner on. (2 ~ 5 hrs of riding).
Monthly rides to the hill stations, at about 20°C ~ 8°C, the jacket keeps you warm enough with the rain layer, but without the thermal layer. (5 ~ 6 hrs of riding).
Excellent feel and build quality.

Better in the desert than expected.
I rode out from my home in Las Vegas to San Jose CA yesterday via Death Valley. I took some of the less traveled dirt roads (marked closed due to washouts) with the temp just over 100F. With all the vents opened, sleeve cuffs open and front zipper down about 6", I was able to keep fairly cool. I'd expect that once the temp gets closer to 110F across the desert (return trip next week), I'll need to soak my shirt to keep cool.

Overall, for a summer jacket, it exceeded my expectations. Along the coast where it was closer to 45F, I put the liner in and closed the vents and was nice and warm.

As for recommendations, they should have a snap to allow the collar closure tab to be held against the jacket and out of the way,as well as having a way for the top 6" of the jacket to be folded back for desert riding. Having the capability to have a water bladder built into the back or snap to the back of the jacket would eliminate the need to carry water bottles.

Great!
Had the opportunity to test the jacket today. Started my ride at 35 degrees, ended at 62. I was comfortable throughout the day with only a relatively thin underlayer. I'm very happy with the look and versatility. I have not had the opportunity to test it in warmer weather with layers removed and the vents open (although I purchased it as specifically for cool/cold weather) or in rain.

One note of warning: this seems to run quite small. I am 6'1", 215 lbs with quite wide shoulders and the 2XL is a bit on the snug side with all the layers on while, with most brands, XL has room to spare for me. I would probably not have been able to wear multiple thick layers underneath.

Overall, highly recommended. Very happy with style, function and comfort.

great cool season jacket
Rode in low 30 temps with the matching pants. With both liners in place and the neck guard I was very comfortable. When it was low 60's both liners were a little to much and I was reaching for vents on the highway. Rode home in high 70's with both liners out, all vents open and was very comfortable. I'm 5'10 180 and the medium tall was a perfect fit for me as I have a large wingspan. Will not be a great option for hot weather touring. You'd have to unzip it to the point of losing protection. All in all great product from Fieldsheer and I'm happy with the product

A very good and underrated product.
The Fieldsheer Adventure Tour Jacket is a very well made product with beautiful design. The BMW red/blue/white combo is rivals even BMW's offerings.
After one year of use I can attest to the quality of the build, everything still works like new, even the reflective material after a couple of washes.
Durability is excellent, protection is fine too but as always yo can upgrade to better pads.
Airflow is good at road speeds but not when off road, and I guess this holds true for most adv products.

Love this versatile jacket, no regretts.
Have only ridden with this jacket 8 or 10 times so far but I am very happy with my choice and the price was great (especially since I am buying a full second set of matching gear for my girlfriend). Although I haven't had it very long I'll try and give my honest opinion of it.

For starters I am a 6' 1" 175lb male.
What attracted me to this jacket in the first place was the versatility. I live in Alaska and the riding season is short here. The temps are cool and conditions can vary widely even on a short ride. To put even higher demands on my gear I will be spending winter months riding in Arizona where conditions can vary widely as well but the temps can be up near low to mid 80's.
The venting on this jacket is excellent. I can open all 6 vents on front and 2 large back vents and you can feel the air flowing up your arms, through your chest / armpits and down your back. Getting cold? Simply start closing vents until you achieve a comfortable temp.
I have ridden down to 38 degrees with all liners in, vents closed and just a simple base layer and was comfortable. Have only tested up to 70 degrees with the thermal liner removed, all vents open and a simple base layer and again was very comfortable. I am confident that it could be worn in warmer temps with all liners out and vents open. Have read reviews of people wearing this jacket up to about 85 or even 90 degrees. it does get warm when you do not have airflow. The lower front collar aids in venting as well but can be closed up with the neck gator. At some point I will buy a mesh jacket for the warmer temps if needed.
This jacket is waterproof and I have tested that feature out as well and it kept me warm and dry.

The fit on this jacket is true to size and plenty of adjustments to keep things snug where you need it. One thing I want to point out (and was a consideration before making my choice) the thermal liner is very thin which helps tremendously to keep the jacket more true to size when you remove liners....you don't feel like you are 'swimming' in your jacket when temps rise and just wearing the outer shell. Another note to mention, your arms will sweat and the liner wants to stick to your skin so I always wear a long sleeve shirt when using the liners, the outer shell doesn't seem to have this problem due to the inner mesh so when things get warm you can go to a lighter shirt.

Plenty of pockets, Exterior pockets are waterproof and of good size. I haven't found myself lacking or wishing for more.

Protection, I deducted a point for protection due to lack of chest armor. Last weekend I took a small rock to the chest from an oncoming car while traveling at highway speed and while the jacket helped to lessen the impact I still let out a big "Ouch"! Chest armor would have been nice but have only seen that feature in much more expensive gear.
Other than that this jacket seems very rugged and well built, confidence inspiring with armor and padding in all the rite places, (elbows, shoulders and spine) yet comfortable and flexible, not too stiff or restrictive of movement.
Love the amount of reflectivity on this coat and it is a very attractive looking jacket as well.

Overall I am very happy with my choice of this 4 season waterproof jacket that has you covered from 30 degrees all the way up to the mid 80's while offering great protection, fit and versatility. The fact that I found this jacket at a great price in the closeout section makes it more affordable when purchasing a second set of matching women's gear (which are available in many size options).

I would highly recommend this product. If you want a better jacket you will probably need to start looking at Gortex jackets and the price goes WAY up.

Is the outer shell waterproof? There is a mention of Rainguard barrier protection, but no mention of water protection without the liner being used. Thanks
A shopper on Mar 19, 2015
BEST ANSWER: This is 3 layers jacket: outer shell (as you see it), mid waterproof layer and "close to skin" insulation layer. Outer shell is not waterproof. May be sort of water repellent and it looks like it is, but waterproofing is in the mid layer. Outer shell is also wind proof ( I would say 95%). I don't want to even test outer shell for waterproofness ... I just bought Alpinestars Hurricane Rain Jacket (from Revzilla this time:) and will use it during the long rainy trips.
I'm not clear if the outer Maxtena-pro is waterproof. Rainguard barrier technology is mentioned, but no claim about waterproof without the liner. Any thoughts? thanks
A shopper on Mar 19, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I have another Fieldsheer jacket I picked up about 6 months ago (Supersport) with the same material. I recently did a moto-camping trip and was inundated with rain and snow for most of the trip. I accidentally left the jacket out in the rain, on my bike, overnight while it rained. The next day, the inside of the jacket and the bike under the jacket were dry. I wore it that day and did not feel wet at all. I don't think they consider the Maxtena-pro to be "waterproof" but I would absolutely consider it "weather resistant". With the inner liner it becomes water-proof.

Hopefully this is helpful.
I am curious as to the sleeve length on this jacket. Even in the tall sizes the 2XL shows a measurement of 29.5 inches on the size chart as the length for the sleeves, which seems very short especially for a "Tall" motorcycle jacket. I am 6'5" and in dress shirts i usually buy them with a 36/37 sleeve. When I measure as the size chart tells you to from the middle of the neck down the outside of my arm, i read 34 inches to my wrist. Will this fit me? if not what are similar options that will fit? (I am also looking at the Firstgear TPG Rainier, but I think I prefer a jacket with removable under-layers) I am looking for a 4 season adventure jacket. I am riding a 2014 BMW R1200 GSA.
Ricky H on Jan 2, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Ricky - I have had this jacket for about a month. I think the sleeve length might be measured differently by Fieldsheer - from armpit to wrist (due to armor in shoulders changing the measure) I am only 5'11" but wear a 33/34 sleeve. The Large size fits well - maybe a 1/2" too long - 2XL should be pretty close. I am a bodybuilder and get a similar measurement from mid-neck to wrist (34-35"). Certainly my arms are not as long as yours. Regarding the jacket - its proving very warm - in the cool weather can wear a long sleeve t-shirt in 40 degrees. The fit is long - and covers my backside (very handy for rain, snow and cold riding). So far the jacket is great bang for the buck - but I have not tested it in heavy rain yet. I bought this to replace an 8 year old BMW Rally 2 jacket that has been around the world (on a 1200GS). You are right to go with removable layers - especially for heavy touring. Hope this helps.
