The Power Commander Fuel Controller (PCFC) is a plug-n-play fuel management device pre-programmed with make and model specific maps. In addition the PCFC has the added ability to modify or change these maps on the fly without a computer. Users can literally select between a Power Commander FC Map, custom-built maps, or even fine tune low, mid or high rpm ranges while sitting on their bike and without plugging into a computer. Standard +/- 10% increments from selected map settings, different ranges are available using the supplied Control Center software. Users can also load up to 10 of their personally built Power Maps into the Power Commander FC and select between them while in the saddle - eliminating the need to "re-boot" with the computer every time a new map is desired.

Basic alternative to PCV
The new "PCFC" devices appear (and function identically) to what used to be sold under the Two Bros. JuiceBox name- however they are now marketed under Dynojet, and use a slightly different software interface. Still compatible with all PC maps. In essence, it's a "lite" version of the PCv, in that it lacks support for any of the add-on modules such as a quickshifter, O2 auto-tuner, or ignition module, so if you're not interested in any of those, you can save some money going with the FC. In terms of fuel control, it's actually superior- it can hold up to 10 maps in memory, and they can be switched via a dial on the device, no computer needed. The PCV only holds two, and they can't be switched without a computer hooked up or an accessory switch. The FC also gives you basic on-bike tunability, three knobs let you go +/- 10% fuel, each for a third of the bike's rev range. This is very basic, but making gross changes with them can give you an idea if you need to go richer or leaner in a specific area to fine tune the actual map.

As of 6/15, the FC for the 14+ Z1000 only comes loaded with one map for a totally stock bike. A map for the Arrow full header is posted on their website, and seems to work reasonably well with my Akrapovic system as well. I made a few changes in the low end as I had a bit of a lean surge initially around 3000rpm. Coupled with a full exhaust, the PCFC produces a noticeable difference, especially in the mid-to high rpm range. Surprisingly, mileage has not been noticeably affected, I'm getting the same range between fill ups as stock and averaging in the low 40's. Not bad for having this much oomph on tap, and using it regularly.

Install is fairly straightforward, probably an hour and a half, though it was my first time pulling the fairings and tank off this bike. Factory style connectors all fit perfect. The harness length between the controller and the connectors could be a little longer, it won't reach to under the passenger seat where these usually go, and space under the driver seat is very limited. You can cram it in next to the fuse block, but there's not really a good way to secure it there. There's not really a "tidy" place to mount it that won't interfere with putting the seat on. Another 6" of wiring would of helped this a lot.

For a stock bike, or with only a slip on exhaust I would not see this as a necessary item. For full systems I would definitely recommend it. As a fuel tuner it's preferable to the PC V, it just lacks the compatibility with the add-on modules in order to cut the cost. Based on prior experience with Power Commanders and the JuiceBox this is based on, reliability has always been excellent.

Is this a good choice for a y'12 WR450f?
I have an FMF Power Core exhaust, w/ a k&n AFilter, will it make my bike run much cooler? Currently I have a heat management issue.
Is the software compatible with a newer PC OS?
