Dunlop Roadsmart 2 Tires

Sport-touring riders constitute a very experienced and savvy sector of the motorcycling scene, and they continue to place a premium on multiple tire expectations: Outstanding wet-weather performance, linear and responsive handling traits, traction characteristics on par with sport tires and extended tread life - all in one tire. All of these qualities were present in the popular first-generation Roadsmart, and now these virtues have been elevated in the new Roadsmart II to create a higher level of performance for the long-haul crowd.

Immediately evident is the new tread pattern on both front and rear Dunlop Roadsmart 2 Tires. The front tire still incorporates Dunlop’s readily recognized cosecant-curve groove pattern. The shape and placement of these grooves are newly designed to promote even tire wear up front, and they also stiffen the pattern for reduced tire squirm and extended tire life. Additional grooves also help improve wet-weather performance thanks to a greater sea-to-land ratio that helps promote water dispersion.

Features:

  • New tread rubber compounds include silica to help deliver impressive performance in wet conditions while also extending wear
  • New cosecant-curve tread pattern helps promote even tire wear and stiffens the pattern for reduced tire squirm and extended tire longevity
  • Increased tread depth further promotes water channeling while also extending tire mileage
  • MT Multi-Tread rear tire incorporates a long-wearing compound in the center of the tire tread and a lateral-grip compound on each shoulder to enhance cornering performance and provide class-leading grip and feel
  • Intuitive Response Profile (IRP) intuitively allows greater latitude in line choice while cornering and provides remarkably linear steering at various lean angles, and puts down a bigger footprint at extreme lean angles, for enhanced grip and handling

Had these tires on when I bought the bike and liked it enough to redo them
Jon A on May 26, 2017
Loved this rear tire on my K1200GT wedge. Good turn in, holds lean angle with little bar pressure, and plenty of traction wet or dry. Only wish it had gone a little longer than 9k miles before scalloping and getting noisy, but I suppose the life is just fine under a 630lb, 150hp touring bike.
Jon D on Apr 17, 2017
same

Pleased with past experience. Trusted product. Long wear

These are rated durable and a good replacement for my previous Roadsmart 3 Rear tire which has 2 plugs in it now.

Good wear so far....we'll see if they get over 8K on a Honda ST1300
Douglas G on Oct 14, 2016
This is the same tire that my honda cbr500ra 2013 came with.

Great tire, I commute 200 miles a day and the front tire has lasted for 17000 miles. Great performance rain or shine.

is good
Jesus M on Aug 22, 2016
I ride a CBR1000RR Purely on the streets and no track time. Most of my riding is commuting and I live on a dirt road. Durability is more important to me than racer-boy adhesion levels.

Have this on my VFR and love the grip. My tire changing guy is also a local racer and has this on his personal bike as well and highly recommends the tire. Ordered for my sons Buell 1125R, so we'll see how he likes them.
stephanie m on Apr 2, 2016
I found the specs and reviews of the Roadsmart 2'similar to the Michelin pr4's I had considered purchasing for a substantial savings. I hope the dunlops hold up as well.
Howard R on Mar 30, 2016
Have had good experience with these tires last long and handle good.
Martin74 on Mar 9, 2016
I have ran Dunlop Roadsmart tires in the past and they do what I need them to do. They give me good tread life and still are good enough for some good curvy backroads.

EXCELLENT LIFE AND STICKINESS... DONE AND DONE
Stetson W on Nov 20, 2015
I currently have a road smart II on my Motus MST it has worn good and gives good feed back in tight high speed corners. If the one on the bike wears as good as the reviews say, I will be a happy camper. If not I may go back to OEM tires.

Factory Replacement for Honda CBR500
Joel G on May 26, 2015
Same as review for front tire. Also, picked up large screw in the rear tire last year so had to replace the tire, but was able to ride home approximately 300 miles without loosing air.
Blake S on May 26, 2015
Solid price point.

Because they're one of the few tires that fit my 1988 GSX-R 1100 and they perform.

W J on May 12, 2015
I needed to replace my tires and decided to go with this tire after reading many reviews--the clincher is because this tire is made in the USA.
Bill F on Apr 8, 2015
I've had good luck with these tires wearing evenly on centerline and sidewalls, getting great value for the money. Performance with these tires is as good as the sportmax but better wear pattern.
Charles H on Mar 9, 2015

I have a 2002 Kawasaki ZX-6R and am wondering if it's acceptable to pair a Sportsmax Q3 front tire with a Sportsmax Roadsmart ll rear tire? Thanks in advance for your help, Gary K.
Gary K on May 7, 2016
BEST ANSWER: In my honest opinion yes....you should of course get the tires in pairs but if you're replacing your rear and your front it still in good repair then yes. The Road smart is more of a sport touring tire..built to withstand the mundane back and forth that most street riders do. I had the Q's on my 06 Ninja and they were great tires as well, except for the fact that im not a track rider. I took a hard stop on the street and the softer rubber of the Q's showed it...they have great grip but also will rip away easier on the roads. I replaced my Q's with roadsmarts and they still look new to this day and i ride the crap outta my bike. They have good grip and will still allow you to lean....NOT EXTREME...but they will go over when you want them to. Mind you im not a tire or bike expert...this is just what i did.
video states that they will get back with mileage. Have BS T30s on a st1100 and very disappointed with 6k and their worn out. Looking for 8-10k, Is the RSII the answer?? I,m 62yrs old and ride like it, just touring!!
Al B on Mar 11, 2016
BEST ANSWER: wow you guys must ride hard. Tire wear varies based on how they are ridden. I had Q3's before and got 22,000 km out of them. However i don't wheelie or do smoke shows.
What tires do you recommend for st1300. More about tire life than super sticky?
A shopper on Apr 20, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I bought the dunlop for a 2009 yamaha 6r but have not put many miles on it as I also have a honda goldwing and I put about 10k on it a year.
I like Bridgestone 709 and 704 for my gold wing and I ride aggressive but I also ride long distant, The bridgestones lasted me a year and the front is still good but I am replacing it any way since I am replacing the rear.
If you really want milage out of the tires you may look at what they call riding the dark side and put a car tire on the rear. If you do make sure that you have tire monitors. You can research just look up the dark side.
Some motorcycle tires have a harder center and softer sides so that you get more milage out of them.
i have a 2017 road glide and i want to put a 18 inch rim on rear will that work?
A shopper on Nov 14, 2016
I have a Kawasaki 2012 650R. What is the largest rear tire i can use to switch out the stock tire?
A shopper on Dec 6, 2012
BEST ANSWER: I have a 2015 ninja 650R, I would definitely feel secure with a 170 rear. Slightly larger but certainly not large enough that I can imagine having any difficulties. I'm at 3,400 miles on the stock tires currently
My bike calls for a 79V rear and 58v front. Please add the load ratings for us out here to make shopping easier!
A shopper on Apr 9, 2012
BEST ANSWER: The following front tires are 58W rated. V-rated tires are speed-rated up to 150mph; W-rated tires are speed-rated up to 168mph.

120/70ZR17
110/80ZR18
120/70ZR18 (59W rated)

The rear tire with the highest load rating is only rated to 75W, which is up to 853 lbs. A 79 load rating is equal to 963 lbs.

The recommended tire for the K1200LT is the Metzeler ME880 (Front) (Rear) . The recommended 160/70VB17 reinforced rear tire and 120/70VB17 front tire achieve the combined load and speed rating.
