DrySpec D78 Modular Drybag System

The D78 Modular Packing System consists of the D38 DrySpec Rigid drybag and the D20 saddlebag set. The D38 and D20 saddlebag set is constructed of RF welded 22oz. vinyl that guarantees 100% waterproof performance even when submerged.

D20 Saddlebags:

Unlike all other saddlebags, the D20’s interchangeable center strap is the core innovation that allows the bags to be so versatile. The bags mount directly to a bike with or without sideracks and can attach directly to other D-Series dry bags. Use the Velcro center strap for convenience, the solid nylon strap for extremely muddy conditions, or remove the center strap all together to mount the bags directly to a D28 or D38 dry bag. Mounting the D20 saddlebags to the D28 or D38 dry bag is the ideal solution for riders who want the extra storage but are unable to mount traditional saddlebags due to high exhausts.

Features:

  • Modular packing (mates with D28 and D38)
  • Universal slip-lock mounting straps (included)
  • Interchangeable center straps (Velcro or solid nylon)
  • Mounts with or without sideracks
  • Retro Reflective logo

Specs:

  • 40 liters (20 liters each side)
  • 100% waterproof (Radio Frequency Welded Seams)
  • 17” long x 6” wide x 12” tall
  • 22oz Vinyl & coated Cordura

D38 Drybag:

The D38 is constructed of RF welded 22oz. vinyl that guarantees 100% waterproof performance even when submerged. The D38 features a rigid core that enables the bag to be mounted to any bike, with or without a top rack, even when the bag is completely empty. Try that with a traditional dry bag! The rigid construction and unique 4-point strap mounting system work together enabling easy access to contents without loosening straps or removing the bag from the bike.

Features:

  • Rigid Core Construction
  • Modular packing (mates with D20 and D28)
  • Universal slip-lock mounting straps (included)
  • Mounts with or without toprack
  • Infinitely useful daisy chain mounting strip
  • Retro Reflective Logo
  • Adjustable & detachable carry handle
  • Strap keepers to secure excess webbing
  • Includes 4 straps and carry handle

Specs:

  • 38 Liters
  • 100% waterproof (Radio Frequency Welded Seams)
  • 22” long x 12” wide x 9” tall
  • 22oz Vinyl & coated Cordura

For when you actually tour
I messed up and didn't finance the panniers and racks into my purchase of a 2015 Triumph XRx even though I had bought it for touring! So, when it was time for the pilgrimage to Prudhoe Bay, these were the best option. Now that I have used them, I probably will not get the panniers.

These bags held up great even without the exhaust shield. I will probably get that by next trip though just to avoid the anxiety. After three weeks on the road and camping, the Dry Spec logo had eroded away but the bags were intact. All my gear stayed dry and clean. I was able to fit my clothes in one side D20 and my husband's in the other side D20. The D38 held an assortment of items from day to day but mostly our toiletries, dehydrated food packets, snacks, and towels. The D38 could use a more flexible opening and probably not compromise seal.

Getting the combo set up and on the bike was simple after watching the video a couple of times. Getting the bags off was also simple.

My only gripe is with the straps. For my type of bike, the straps were not long enough. Also, and most importantly, the straps are not treated with whatever is on say a Rok strap that makes it easy to tighten and release the strap regardless of the dust and dirt on it. The straps are very dry and really tough to adjust to the point that my fingertips were tore up by the end.

Overall good value and looking forward to using again.

Well thought out product
Planning a six week trip to South America. Needed something versatile for different bikes (renting in Peru) and different configurations. The DrySpec D78 seemed to fit the bill. Revzilla was the cheapest and the bags arrived within two days and were well packed. Went online to see how to configure the bags and was done in less than twenty minutes (now can configure and install in less than two minutes and can uninstall in less than 30 seconds). Bags appear well made and will report back on how they hold up. I'm retired. Don't work for, or know, any of these people (DrySpec or Revzilla) but wanted to let others know about this product since I don't see any other reviews.

Very good ,but could be better .
I have just put this set up on my bike and then went for a ride .
I like how it is so adaptable but there are things to improve.

The entry to the D38 bag is too narrow . The strap that goes around the rear of the number plate is fine for length when the D20's are mounted on the seat . However when the system is mounted together higher up it was to short for my bike .
I find the mounting system ok, but it is not as easy to get off the bike as a Twisted Throttle video suggests ,especially with the strap material being coarse .
I suggest if you buy this set up you may need a rok strap or two to limit the slippage forward and customise the fit .

I have no regrets about buying this set up .

Would this work on a 2016 bmw gs 1200 water cooled. And also be adaptable to a Suzuki DR400?
