Versatile jacket, but not quite 4 season
This jacket comes with three parts- The jacket, the waterproof liner, and the thermal liner. Putting the three together and separating the layers can be a little tricky at first (I ripped a loop on the waterproof liner by being impatient, but nothing a tailor can't fix) but once you get used to it, it isn't so bad. Underneath the jacket with all the layers on, you can't wear much more than a t-shirt I found.

The thermal liner is a fully finished jacket, which is a really nice bonus feature. It is fairly inconspicuous, and has its own set of zip pockets. Perfect for spring weather when you are off the bike.

The waterproof liner is what would be expected, and the stitching does seem durable. I only encountered an issue because I yanked at it trying to get it off. Otherwise, it keeps you bone dry. I was very impressed.

The jacket itself looks and feels great. Armor runs along the elbow and all the way down the forearm, as well as on the shoulder. As the description notes, there are pockets for chest and back protectors; I have both in my jacket. Definitely a little snug with all the extra armor, but it is very comfortable and not terribly heavy. The zippers are smooth and the snap adjustments don't unbutton on a whim. Solid jacket. I haven't been down on it yet, but it feels pretty much bulletproof with the chest and back protectors.

For fitment, I am a lanky dude (5'11" height, 165lbs, 38" chest, 24" sleeve, 30" waist) so getting a jacket to fit right at the sleeves off the bike was a concern of mine; the 1.5" of skin at the wrist looks ridiculous. I went with a 48 and this jacket fits great - right down to the wrist. The cut of the waist is a little high (just around the belt line) but the available zip belt makes it work just fine.

My first time out with this jacket was in torrential downpours for 4+ hours of straight rain (bad MSF weather timing). My torso was dry and warm as could be with the two inner layers on and a t-shirt underneath. The second day was a little snow and bitter bitter cold weather (~28 degF high winds), and once again I was quite impressed with how warm I was (under the jacket anyway). I did have on some thermal base layers, but the jacket did a good job of cutting the wind down.

In warm weather, I can see this jacket being too hot. It has four vents, 2 intakes in the front and 2 exhausts in the back. In 70 degF weather, with a t-shirt on and the vents open, I was very comfortable riding around, and only a little warm at stoplights. However, once the temperature reaches around 80 or 90, this jacket will probably be stifling.

Overall, absolutely thrilled with this jacket purchase. Considering you get a bonus jacket to stroll around in springtime weather, the price point isn't even that bad.

Good touring jacket
5'8", 150#, 37" chest - sizing a bit tricky on this jacket between 46/48 -- I planned to add armor on front+back, and it has multiple lining/layers -- as a result I went with the size 48, which is a bit loose around my arms but there are snaps/adjusters to clamp things down a bit, and with all the armer+layers installed, it's quite snug.

Paired with the Dainese Chest/Back armor noted below, this jacket is fairly heavy, but fits well and feels very protective. I use gauntlet gloves, tucked under the sleeves of the jacket which is a tight squeeze but once buttoned up, no issues with motion on the wrists.

The waterproofing is pretty good, tested in several Colorado downpours -- just the jacket itself repelled water fairly well, but it did soak through after 15-20m. If you have time to stop & prep for rain, then the d-dry liner will keep you dry for sure.

The jacket can get got when riding in the city in summer heat (90+F), but once moving it's good with the vents (front+back) open.

Overall very happy with the jacket, upgrading from an older mesh jacket this is much more protective, and all around nicers.

Just what I wanted!
To start let me tell you about what I'm coming from. My last jacket was a cheap baked in waterproof jacket that I owned for about 3 years. So buying this jacket was leaps and bounds superior to this jacket! I have ridden with this jacket from low 30F to upper 80F and have been reasonable comfortable in these ranges. Although when it dips below 45F I use a different base layer. Ventilation is pretty good for what this jacket is intended for as a 3 season jacket. I will be using this as a full 4 season jacket. I have been caught in a 30 min down poor without the D-Dry layer and I was perfectly dry, so the waterproof layer would be for extensive rainy rides. The base layer that comes with this jacket is very impressive. But if I wanted for the outer shell to fit me sung then the base layer is TIGHT! The bottom of the jacket only comes down to just above my belt line which I feel is too high. The armpits are tight when you aren't on the bike. I wish that they would of designed the base layer to be more like a traditional jacket vs. a strict base layer. As far a build quality, it's top of the line! I can unzip or zip with just one hand which is super handy. I do wish there was some sort of vent in the forearm. But other than that it is a superb jacket!

If you are looking for winter three season, this is it
I ride M109R Boulevard 2013, This is my third jacket and I love it. The separate jacket inside is a perfect addition for cold weather. The only down side of this jacket is not having more air-flow in the front. I also wished that Dainese logo is on both arms and more pop out.
Over all, Dainese knows how to make a perfect jacket. Thank you RevZilla for all the videos, it was an excellent tool to make a decision

Excellent Value
Great jacket by Dainese.

For the price point you are getting quite a good bang for the buck considering all the layers and features that comes with the jacket.

The jacket is screams European Sport Touring in its style and design. The front pockets are placed further towards the front then most motorcycle jackets, which is a huge plus. It gives quick and easy access on or off the bike. A lot of other jackets, the pockets are too far back towards the side of your waist making them inconvenient.

The layers of the jacket are loosely attached to each other by 3 buttoned tabs: 1 on each sleeve and 1 at the collar. This makes removing each layer very easy and quick. On the downside, with all the layers in, it can get a bit hectic putting on and taking off the jacket because of how loose everything sits. But with some practice, finesse, and patience it won't be an issue at all.

With all the layers in and the vents closed, I was able to comfortably ride at highway speeds in 30 degree weather. Makes this an excellent choice for the colder months of the year.

With all the vents open and the layers out, the jacket is summer capable up to any temperature but it depends on rider tolerance. The longer rides in very hot conditions won't be comfortable in this jacket at all. Anything less that very hot, you will be good as long as you move. With this jacket being multi-seasoned focused, it obviously won't be as well suited and move as much air as a full fledged mesh jacket for the summer so buying this jacket solely for the summer is not a good idea.

As for sizing, I'm 6ft 135lbs with a 35 inch chest (aka the tall lanky kind of guy) and I decided to go up a size to size 50 on this jacket. I considered all the layers and the length of the jacket. With all the layers in the jacket is snug and all the armor is in their proper place. There is some room left as well for a back protector, which I will be grabbing in the near future, further making the size up the right choice for me. The length of the arms are perfect but the waist could be an inch or 2 longer. Without all the layers the jacket does look a bit 'bulky' but that is to be expected for someone of my frame. The jacket does give plenty of adjust-ability on the arms and a bit on the waist so you can tailor in the fit.

Overall, excellent cold weather capable jacket priced perfectly with all the features you are getting with great style and fit.

Great jacket
This jacket may be a little snug if you go with the size chart recommendations. I jumped one size up to a size 50 (38 inch chest, recommended size 48). Fits well even with the layers. Might need a size larger if you're going to put in additional armor.

Works great in the rain and not as hot as it was billed. Texas summer, over 100, sweat but not hot.

Jacket fit great
While the Jacket itself fits flawlessly the D-Dry membrane and the fleece liner are a bit snug. With the 3 worn at the same time it is very difficult to move. I live in Northern CA so most riding conditions are between the low 50's and 80's comfortable in those ranges with or without the liner. May not be able to wear the D-dry membrane and the fleece liner together under the jacket.

Versatile and Great Looking Jacket
I decided to purchase this jacket because it appeared to be an extremely versatile product. Dainese definitely delivers on this promise. The flexibility of have a protective outer shell with decent venting, a waterproof liner, and thermal liner makes for a jacket that can be worn during multiple seasons. I have used this jacket for hours at a time in the 30s and 40s and I was very comfortable. However, I have not been caught in the rain yet to see how effective the D-Dry liner is. Opening up the chest vents does flow air, but this would not be the best option for a summer-only jacket.

From a protection standpoint, you get what you would expect from Dainese. All material on this jacket feels high-quality and the construction is great. The cut is very European which works well for my athletic build and there is a slightly adjustable waist strap for the best fit around the midsection.

I have the all-black jacket, and match it to my Dainese Drake Air pants - together, I think they look really good. Personally, I like that the Dainese branding is more reserved on this jacket than other Dainese offerings. The shoulder slider demons are a nice design touch. Overall, I think this jacket is a great product, and I highly recommend it.

I can't quite put a finger on what the optimum temperature range would be for this jacket. Would it be a mainly Fall-winter-spring jacket, or can it also pass as a full 4 season?
Phil Perry T on Feb 13, 2016
BEST ANSWER: It depends on what type of person you are and where you live. I am a kind of guy that can handle the heat as long as I'm not sitting in traffic so for me its a good 4 season jacket also located in Washington the heat never get that bad. I have experienced this jacket in 87 F to 34 F and haven't had any issues with this jacket. Although when the temp. drops below 45 F I use a different base jacket than the one provided. I hope this helps.
What pants would you recommend to go with these pants? It's hard finding waterproof sport commuter pants.
Ian V on Apr 29, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I grabbed a pair of the Dianese travelguard pants from a local dealer and love them. They keep me super dry when it's wet (GTX), but also have a little venting for summertime and a thermal liner for winter. Definitely recommended if you can find a pair.

Is the fit the same as the Hydra Flux D-Dry?
A shopper on Mar 4, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Also not familiar with the Hydra Flux but the Hawker does seem to fit a little larger than the Speed Star D-Dry if that helps. I'm 6'3" and about 185lbs and in the Speed Star I'm most comfortable in a 54 (52 is a little short in the sleeves and doesn't leave enough room in the body for extra layers) but a 54 in the Hawker is just a little too large in the body and the arms are a bit too loose so I'm sizing back down to a 52.
Is the inside of the collar soft material?
A shopper on Oct 2, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Inside the collar is the same material as the jacket. Though it has a leather beading around the edges. I have never had a comfortability iasue with the collar. It does not chafe.
Is the fit the same as the Dainese Superspeed Textile Jacket?
Ricardo S on Jul 5, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I won't know. This is my 1st and only Dianese jacket.
Is this available in a tall size? I'm 6'4, but thin, and don't want a baggy jacket
A shopper on Jun 19, 2016
BEST ANSWER: It doesn't appear to come in tall size. You should search jackets then choose 'apparel size' in the search filter options then select your size. You will find which jackets are available in tall size
