Cardo Pack Talk BOLD Bluetooth Headset

Good technology should only compliment your riding experience. With Cardo BOLD, an advanced Natural Voice Operation platform keeps your hands on your bars where they belong. "Hey Cardo, music on", "Hey Cardo, next track", "Hey Cardo, mute audio"; a full suite of menu navigation lies right within easy reach of your vocal fingertips.

The revolutionary Scala Rider PackTalk features dual-core wireless technologies for a stable and active communication network. The Bluetooth mode offers legacy by featuring full backward compatibility with other Scala Rider models. The DMC mode will compliment and expand standard Bluetooth connectivity by offering group communication that is far superior to any other existing alternatives.

DMC technology constantly forms and re-assembles its virtual network, and assures that communication among large groups remains uninterrupted irrespective of the ever-changing environment. Whenever a Cardo PackTalk user cannot directly connect with group members who are beyond the reach of the intercom, it will re-connect to the next most suitable member in the group in order to ‘leapfrog’ the connection to the remote PackTalk user. This system is virtually seamless and adjusts within split seconds to maintain an active network.

When the weather gets tough, the PackTalk keeps going. The PackTalk carries an IP67 waterproof rating. Any rain, sleet, hail or snow will not have an impact on your PackTalk's performance.

Cardo Smartset App for Android and iOS devices enables the use of a smartphone as a remote control. It allows for operation of all main features such as A2DP, intercom, FM radio and mobile calls. The App also features multiple languages - English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish.

Must Own
Coming from the Sena 20S world and more recently upgraded to the 30K (before returning it because it flat out doesn't work), this is amazing. My group and I purchased 2 Duo packs and our minds our blown by how simple these are to operate. The sound quality is better than anything I've owned, volume is automated, connection to each other is seamless, and voice commands have made us all go completely hands free! I wish we would have made the switch to Cardo years ago!

Great headset
Weather resistance is what sold me. No regrets trading in my Sena 20S for the PackTalk. I wish there was a way to voice command the music a little better. The current version only allows using voice to skip or repeat songs. There is no feature to voice control playlists or to skip several songs or to play songs by a particular artist.

CARDO CUSTOMER SERVICE ISSUES
BEWARE FAULTY UNITS

The first 2 weeks of having the product was great. Easy to install, use and has decent sound.

The trouble started when the power port came sliding out of the headset when trying to disconnect from power. I've had my share of electronic devices and have not had this happen.

Little did I know I wasn't getting my unit back for over 8 weeks.

I set up the warranty process. Seems easy and straight forward. Got a shipping address and sent it in, having to cover shipping cost myself. I was told when they received the item they would ship out a replacement and it should only take 10-14 business days. Fine no problem, I'll miss out on the item no more then a few weeks. .

I wait 2 weeks (10 Business days) to check back in with Cardo as I hadn't received the replacement. I was hoping to get a tracking number to be ready to accept delivery and not have it snatched from my porch.

No response... Emailed back after 4 more business days.... No reply. Sent another email after another 5 days. Finally 4 weeks from when I sent it in, to get a reply of "Let me make a few calls on this. I know that we were waiting for some replacements to make it in the country, but we should have them by now. But let me confirm. Sorry for the delay".

After not hearing back 2 more days after his response, I send another email for an update.

The following day I finally get a response to find out from Cardo's unhelpful rep Gary "I just got word that our replacement units are basically on back order. Well, really they are on order, if that makes any sense".

Whatever that means! At this point I am frustrated and just want an answer when to expect the unit. I don't need to know what words they use to define not having parts available.

After another 4 weeks of silence from Cardo. I finally get a tracking number! Just 1 more week of waiting before I can talk in my helmet again.

Maybe this time it wont fall apart.

Worth the money
Purchased for the ability to receive phone calls while riding. Noticed a little static when on the phone however the ease of communicating with unit out weighs the small static. Music playback is good no static there. Recommend unit. Hell it was on back order for a while. That should tell you something.

the best bluetooth communication unit
I own both Sena 30K and the newly purchased Cardo Packtalk Bold.
Overall Finish and details:
the Cardo is better, especially the water-proof that offer riders confidence riding under rain.

Operation:
I haven't use Cardo as mush as my Sena. I just notify the Cardo unit has smaller button than Sena. I am going to get used to it. I would expect larger buttons for operation while riding. The Pocket Guide is comprehensive and I see the most functions of it is operated relative easy and intuitive. Superb!

Installation: As awaiting for my Arai Astral X delivery, I haven't install the unit. But having had a look at Installation Guide, it is not complex especially for Arai new model 2017 which possess headphone sockets.

Cardo unit allows user to install his/her favorite mic and headphone. This is versatility I like. As an experienced and long time user of sena, I would expect good quality sound of Cardo unit with no doubt, though I haven't yet put it into practice.

The Price is lower than 30Ks I am pretty happy about. I am going to keep both 30Ks and Packtalk Bold because some of my company forks use sena and the other with Cardo. The same brand bluetooth communication yields better range connection than different and one button press for connection.

I recommend any rider to purchase Packtalk bold or slim at your primary bluetooth communication headset.Write your review here. It must be at least 25 characters long. Consider whether you would recommend this product and what you like or dislike about it.

I would stick with the last gen.
I got mine direct through Cardo, so I presently have one. I believe the main selling point of this headset is voice controls, which I have yet to get to work. I've spent hours trying to figure it out to no avail.

Bluetooth is a little spotty (Not necessarily Cardo's fault), but it does routinely cut out for 2-3 (not related to the bluetooth connectivity issue, I think).

Install was more of a pain than expected, oblong speakers made it so I had to alter the inside of my helmet for them to fit in the speaker pockets. Sound quality is meh.

If you REALLY want this intercom system, I implore you to wait until Revzilla is stocking it, so you may deal with their customer service instead of Cardo's. I've been trying to get a hold of them for the past week to help resolve the voice command issues, as well as a billing issue where I have already received the Bold, but have not been charged for some reason.

How does this BOLD unit compare to the previous PackTalk? Are there any significant differences?
Briana P on Apr 28, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I got mine direct through Cardo, so I currently have one. I believe the main difference is the voice controls (Kind of like google assistant, and saying 'okay google' for voice commands) however, I have yet to get the voice commands to work.
Will this integrate with the Harley Davidson CB?
A shopper on Jun 29, 2018
Will this link with a Sena SM10 as a second audio source? My current system is: iPhone BMW Nav VI Sena 20S Sena SM10 <-- iPod & radar detector. I'd like to upgrade to the Packtalk Bold, but don't want to lose my music (iPod) and radar detector audio alerts (Valentine One). I also don't want to connect my phone directly to the headset as I use the GPS to screen/answer (and sometimes make) calls.
Bruce F on Jul 2, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I could not get Sena to work well with my Packtalk. I gave up and bought another Packtalk but opted for Packtalk Bold. I switched everything and moved on. Maybe someone else had a better outcome.
