Bell Race Star Tracer Helmet

The Bell Race Star Helmet has been designed for the sport rider and track day enthusiast that demands unparalleled performance. Constructed using the latest in carbon fiber technology and developed through extensive wind tunnel and track testing, the Race Star's design features a superlight 3K Carbon Shell, Raceview ergonomics for unmatched visibility and the three layer Flex Impact Liner to manage slow, mid and high energy impacts. The Race Star continues the racing heritage of the Bell Star line, pushing the limits of helmet technology to all new heights.

FIT: The Bell Race Star has a narrow neck roll opening and snug cheekpads to occlude noise and to mitigate movement at high speeds. These padded elements will conform to your unique features by a break in margin up to 20% over time as the foam compresses.

FLEX IMPACT LINER: Pro Star and Race Star helmets feature the Flex impact liner, a first-of-its kind, three-layer impact liner designed to manage energy from three potential impact scenarios: low, mid and high-speed. It does this by using three different materials at three different densities. As the impact becomes greater, higher density layers are engaged to manage energy.

RACEVIEW: The Star features two unique profile shapes for two distinctly different types of riding. The Raceview profile used on the Pro Star and Race Star uses an orientation specifically optimized for a tucked, more compact position. Conversely, the Streetview profile used for the Star is designed for a more upright, sport or touring position.

PANOVISION VIEWPORT:  No matter what or how you ride, one factor remains constant: the need for maximum visibility. Whether racing or going on a simple ride in the mountains, the ability to make safe headchecks and see obstacles clearly is critical. The Panovision viewport in the Star offers riders additional vertical and lateral visibility over the previous Star and more traditional viewports. This allows the rider to see better in a tight  or tucked position and make saferlane changes and head-checks.

VIRUS Cool Jade Power Mesh Liner: The Pro Star and Race Star feature the most technically advanced liner on the market. Designed to withstand the rigors of hard use in extreme conditions, the Virus liner allows athletes to stay cool, keep comfortable and beat the funk. CoolJade fabric from Virus has been infused with recycled jade to create a natural cooling effect. The ultra-wicking construction combined with CoolJade infused yarn decreases your skin surface temperature up to 10° F - keeping you comfortable, dry and cool.

3K CARBON SHELL: The proven 3K carbon fiber on the Race Star gives this helmet the look, performance, and feel of a true race helmet.

MAGNEFUSION  MAGNETIC CHEEKPADS: Allows for easy removal of the pads for washing and enables emergency responders to easily remove the cheekpads first before removing the helmet following an impact.

My Go-To Helmet!
Yes, it's pricey. But this helmet is totally worth it. Now, I have not crashed in this helmet and I hope I never do, so I cannot speak firsthand about the flex technology, but based on the theory and the papers put out by Bell I believe the Flex liner alone was enough to justify this helmet- I definitely feel better having it. But there are so many more features to this helmet that you don't realize are big deals until you live with it for a while, particularly the Panovision face shield. I'll be honest, when I first put this helmet on in the apartment I wasn't wowed by the new shape of the shield with the cutouts- I wasn't suddenly able to see 360 degrees or have spidey-sense. But once I took my first ride I realized what a game-changer the Panovision shape is- you REALLY notice the additional peripheral visibility.
Obviously the other features like the Virus liner and the Magenfusion cheek pads are also great- I would argue better than most everything else out there- but everyone has a high-end liner and quick release pads these days.
The other thing about this helmet is that it looks great! the fit and finish is excellent and the paint scheme (I have the Tracer pattern in glossy) is really cool.
Overall I definitely recommend this helmet!

Bell Race Star Tracer
Fits very snug. Went from a large Shoei X12 to an XL Race Star. Had to send it back, was way too big. Revzilla did an awesome job turning my return around. Still getting broke in but seems like it will be a great helmet. A lot louder than the X12. I definitely have to wear ear plugs now. Not to happy about how the faceshield will just pop off if you bump it just right. Was swatting at a bug while faceshield was open, ended up catching the edge of the faceshield and it popped off. Also, ensure you tug on the faceshield once you put it on, just because it clicks doesn't mean it's fully attached. It is a tad bit lighter than my X12, was hoping it would be a little lighter than what it is. Love the wide view. Overall a great helmet that I believe I will be fully satisfied once broken in.

Couldn't pass up on the price and really good reviews. It was between the Shoei X-14 and this Bell Race Star for track days and sport riding .I ride a 2003 Buell XB9R Firebolt.

Can I fit sena speakers in the helmet? Could I use this helmet on the street without my vision being impaired? I ride a 2013 ninja 636

BEST ANSWER: I do have a tpx Bluetooth radar detector speaker in mine. It does sit right against my ear though.
I'm a 58cm head and have the old Bell Star in medium which is perfect fit. Ordered the new Race Star in large but it bends my ears over when putting on and have to fiddle to sort my ears out and although no pressure/pinch points it fits way tighter than any other helmet I've had. Do I need to go to XL or will that be too large. Don't think I can live with the large? Wow did Bell do a number on changing this helmet from the old one.

BEST ANSWER: It's funny that you ask this question! I just purchased a Race Star size L a few weeks ago and had to return it because it hurt my ears so much. No matter what I did, I couldn't get my ears to "seat" properly. I came from an Arai Corsair 5 size L. It's a shame because I waited more than a year for it to come out. It's an incredible helmet, it just didn't fit. I also wondered if an XL would be better but the L fit the crown of my head perfectly and I didn't want to go any bigger. Sorry I don't really have an answer for you but I wanted you to know that you aren't alone! NG
which Bell helmet comes with slots for wearing sun glasses?
Neil L on Oct 3, 2016
BEST ANSWER: According to Bell and Revzilla, they only mentioned that feature on the regular 2016+ Bell Star, not the Race Star, nor the Pro Star helmets.
