At the pole position of the Star line is the Bell Pro Star Helmet. Completely redesigned specifically for the most competitive racers, the Pro Star is constructed using the latest TeXtreme Carbon Shell and Flex Impact Liner technology for uncompromising performance and safety. The aerodynamics and ergonomics of the Pro Star have been developed using state-of-the-art wind tunnel testing and real-world feedback from some of the sports best riders to provide maximum visibility, comfort and protection when riding at high speeds.
Edging out the competitors, the Pro Star's shell is 20% lighter than conventional carbon fiber without sacrificing strength or rigidity, and the Flex impact liner underneath manages the transfer of energy through three different densities of foam to mitigate slow, mid and high energy impacts. If you are looking for a podium finish this season look to the Bell Pro Star for the competitive edge to get you there.
FLEX IMPACT LINER: Pro Star and Race Star helmets feature the Flex impact liner, a first-of-its kind, three-layer impact liner designed to manage energy from three potential impact scenarios: low, mid and high-speed. It does this by using three different materials at three different densities. As the impact becomes greater, higher density layers are engaged to manage energy.
RACEVIEW: The Star features two unique profile shapes for two distinctly different types of riding. The Raceview profile used on the Pro Star and Race Star uses an orientation specifically optimized for a tucked, more compact position. Conversely, the Streetview profile used for the Star is designed for a more upright, sport or touring position.
PANOVISION VIEWPORT: No matter what or how you ride, one factor remains constant: the need for maximum visibility. Whether racing or going on a simple ride in the mountains, the ability to make safe headchecks and see obstacles clearly is critical. The Panovision viewport in the Star offers riders additional vertical and lateral visibility over the previous Star and more traditional viewports. This allows the rider to see better in a tight or tucked position and make saferlane changes and head-checks.
VIRUS Cool Jade Power Mesh Liner: The Pro Star and Race Star feature the most technically advanced liner on the market. Designed to withstand the rigors of hard use in extreme conditions, the Virus liner allows athletes to stay cool, keep comfortable and beat the funk. CoolJade fabric from Virus has been infused with recycled jade to create a natural cooling effect. The ultra-wicking construction combined with CoolJade infused yarn decreases your skin surface temperature up to 10° F - keeping you comfortable, dry and cool.
TeXTREME CARBON SHELL: Using TeXtreme ultra-thin carbon fiber weave, Bell has engineered one of their lightest and strongest shells ever. This ultralight and incredibly strong carbon fiber technology is currently used in today’s most advanced Formula 1 cars and racing boats and now, in the Bell Pro Star. It’s 20% lighter than conventional carbon fiber and reduces weight without sacrificing strength or stiffness.
MAGNEFUSION MAGNETIC CHEEKPADS: Allows for easy removal of the pads for washing and enables emergency responders to easily remove the cheekpads first before removing the helmet following an impact.

This is the Pro Star, the Apex Predator, the top of the food chain in the Bell line-up. Why did I say brief over view? Because the Pro Star is the exact same helmet as the Race Star, which I have it here to my left, on your right. There is one key difference, and that key difference costs about $500. The key difference is that the Bell Pro Star is two to three ounces lighter then the Bell Race Star, and they do that through the carbon fiber construction. It's using TeXtreme carbon fiber, which is the highest grade of carbon fiber, we see it in the F1 world. When y ou say, "Oh, it's not rocket science," it is rocket science, and I'm going to explain the difference in this carbon fiber that you can see right here on top, this is the Tracer graphic, there is going to be a matte carbon fiber straight-up version of this helmet.
But before I get there, remember you need to watch the detailed breakdown video of the Race Star, and if you're really curious about this brand new Bell Star line for 2016, watch the star review as well. They've overhauled all of their race helmets, they're all now called Stars, and again you have varying levels of technicality and positioning which when you go from street and track, to track and hard core sport riding, all the way up to pro level. And again pro level, it's optimizing for lightweight technology and protection, and the big changes here if we look at this, it's the sweep of this, it's going to be the fit. Let's talk briefly about fit for a second, intermediate oval in its head shape, remember it's going to be race fit, a little bit longer front to back, it's the exact same fit as that Race Star I have to my left. Again, watch that detailed breakdown video, remember we're going to ship for free over 39 bucks.
Now, I'm going to dive back in, let's specifically talk about this carbon fiber. So TeXtreme carbon fiber has to use perfect carbon fiber. It's a flatter weave, it's a wider weave, that carbon fiber is not tightly woven, like it is here on the 3K carbon you can see to my left. What it is, is by doing that it's stronger, it's perfect, it's harder to manufacture, it's thinner, it's using 20% less weight, it's using less resin. Again, still carrying the same safety rating, still as exotic as they come with the same strength rating, but you're using less materials, and again you're using, I'm just going to call it rocket science, for the highest grade TeXtreme carbon fiber, that literally, when you see carbon fiber in science, in F1 racing, when you see it at the highest level of peak performance, anywhere that it's used, it would be using TeXtreme, and that is what you're investing in. So again, you could say "Well it sounds like it's a couple hundred bucks an ounce of weight savings to go from three pounds, four ounces down to close to that three pound mark." That is absolutely it, that is going to be the key difference on a Snell DOT helmet with Bell Flex technology, the virus liner, the upgrades across the shell, the ventilation, the quiet, the shield system.
I'm just going to leave you by taking the next step in your journey now that you understand that TeXtreme carbon fiber, click on your mobile or desktop device and visit the product detail page. You will have this video to be able to watch, which is that Race Star helmet review, and watch the full detailed breakdown video, and understand what they've built from the bottom up, which is a juggernaut at that $700 range, and now you're north of that $1200 range. And remember, the only other helmet that's playing in this game, it's going to be the AGV Pista, which is the Rossi helmet, which again carries that type of technological and carbon fiber attack on things, and they're not using TeXtreme carbon fiber on the AGV Pista, I can tell you that.
So, remember, watch the detailed breakdown video, read other rider reviews of the Bell Pro Star helmet, you need to see what other, at this point, racers are saying, putting this helmet through its paces. We agreed with the quiet factor, we very much agree with all the changes they've made to the key construction elements of this helmet.
