are these louder then the stage one from indian. Can you remove or change the baffle for a louder sound?
BEST ANSWER: I have not heard the Stage 1 Indian pipes, but I have had these Bassani ones for a year on my 2016 Dark Horse. They are not very loud, but louder than stock. If you like "loud" pipes, look elsewhere. The tone is fairly good on these, but again not all that different from stock. The reason I even noticed this thread is I am looking for different pipes... and I am not a "loud pipe" kind of guy either. These are just not QUITE enough for me. I know that is subjective and perhaps not that helpful. If you are looking for a LITTLE more than stock, these are a good bet. Any more than that, I'd try something else.
How much more power do you with these? Can you actually the difference or is it all about the sound?
BEST ANSWER: Slip-on mufflers generally provide very little performance improvement. It might be measurable on a dynamometer, but a 2- 5 horsepower difference is not going to feel any different to you (although many people are convinced that their "butt dyno" is that sensitive). So bottom line, changing just the mufflers/slip-ons is 99% about the sound and looks, rather than performance.
Will use of these mufflers require a "flash" of the bike's computer that regulates the fuel/air mixture?
BEST ANSWER: No the Indian's ECU is really good. A lot of people have put far more radical things to the exhaust with no problems. These should be fine.
Does this come with the end caps as shown or are those sold separately? Do they also have a CA approved model?
BEST ANSWER: They do have the end caps, but keep in mind they are polished and not chrome like the rest of the pipe. And they are CA. approved.
Are these mufflers available for Chief Classic and Vintage models ?
