AltRider Radiator Guard Triumph Tiger 800 / XC / XCX / XR / XRX

Rocks and road debris are a threat to your radiator, but you can ride confidently after installing the AltRider Radiator Guard for the Triumph Tiger 800 XC.

Made from 1/16 inch (1.5 mm) thick anodized aluminum, it’s designed with louvers to deflect kicked up debris, while simultaneously directing air flow to the radiator to keep it cool. It attaches to the bike using upper and lower mounts, and incorporates tabs to index into the fairing. High-temp silicone pads in each corner of the guard ensure that when taking a hit, the guard won’t crush the vulnerable radiator fins.  Unlike other designs currently on the market, AltRider does not hard mount to the radiator -- there is too much risk of damaging the radiator.

Features:

  • Made from 1/16 inch (1.5 mm) anodized aluminum
  • Height: 15 inches (38.1 cm)
  • Width: 11.5 inches (29.2 cm)
  • Depth: 1.5 inches (3.8 cm)
  • Weight: 1 lb (.5 kg)

Fitment Notes & Exceptions

  • During installation, the two 1/4” non-adhesive bumpers will not make contact with the bike. These are for guarding the high temperature standoffs while preventing the guard from bending into the radiator during larger impacts/rock hits.

Unclear instructions
The product looks good but the instructions don't mention having to remove the right side engine guard to fit the lower tab to the radiator mount point. The tab on the rad guard will not fit between the radiator and the engine guard cross bar. I tried pushing the rad up to gain clearance but it is pinned on the upper side - this may push out, didn't try. The rad guard is longer than the opening in the plastics and has metal tabs on it. You have to bend/flex the rad guard to get it into the OEM tab points - use caution here - first scratches on my new XCx came in my garage. Decided against removing engine guard to get fitted. It's kinda flimsy and I think the stock plastic guard is possibly better. Smaller openings, less things getting through, once off, felt strong enough. My Altrider rear rack went on quickly and great product...rad guard is going back. I've been wrenching 30 years and this thing was just a pain - or I had unknowingly entered moron mode.

Protect that water cooler
When the box showed up I thought there had been a mistake. it weighed almost nothing. I opened the box and found this very light weight Radiator Guard, Wow I thought it is light.

Installing it was easy but on t Tiger it does require you to pull the fairing plastic and loosing the radiator some.

Looks great on the bike and I am no longer worried about rocks and things hitting my radiator.

Great Radiator Guard just not for the Tiger 800 XCX
This is a great radiator guard. It is not for the Tiger 800 XCx as is listed in the parts finder. The guard is too narrow and the tabs do not fit into either end of the radiator frame. Great product, well made just not for the Tiger 800 XCx.
