AltRider Hemisphere Soft Saddlebags

Calling all R1200GS'ers, Super Tenere'ers, Tiger fans, 'Strada riders, Africa Twin'ers, Stromtroopers, Versys owners and people with large orange colored bikes. If you have side case luggage racks and want the ultimate in lightweight waterproof luggage, AltRider Hemisphere Soft Saddlebags deliver a whopping 125 liters of functional storage space. This colossal volume is segmented into five zones for achieving an ideal balance of weight distribution versus accessibility. The side bags are split into a top access upper storage area and a rear access lower storage area. Keep lightweight items like a sleeping bag and clothing layers stored up top and heavier, dense items like tools, food and water stored in the bottom. Since the top-mounted center dry bag is the least likely to contact the ground in an off-road mishap, it's perfect for stashing things that are more susceptible to damage like electronics and tent poles.

The sheer genius of the Hemisphere system is the modularity. The five aforementioned storage areas detach with ease. Move gear from bike to campsite by merely unholstering the four separate side drybags and detaching the upper center drybag. The framework of the Hemisphere Soft Saddlebags stays lashed to your side case racks. You'll be able to set up camp then make a fire wood run by loading up the empty side holsters. If your goal is to live off your bike for an extended period of time, start off with a proper luggage foundation like the AltRider Hemisphere Soft Saddlebags.

Great bags. Read my "book" below. :-)
I hate to remove a star for what I'm writing here, but since I usually skip over the 5 star ratings thought I'd do it to catch your attention. Haven't ridden with them yet, but thought I'd shoot this out as there aren't any other reviews so far.

There's a note on installation about "extra hoops" being included for bikes with lower or higher racks, and I was scratching my head about this until I found them packed away in the top case. I won't be needing them. Other than this, instructions are good (however color with better contrast would be nice), which is a rarity these days. It took a few minutes to get my head around the mounting procedure, but it's very solid. From what I can see so far:

Seem very sturdy

Additional included dry bags inside of the top side cases are a plus

Cheaper than other soft luggage with much more capacity

"Garage concept" for the lowers is pretty cool

Removable top case is also a plus if you don't need as much storage for shorter trips or just normal day ride stuff

Straps for tying stuff down if you're not using the top case are nice

I'm using Givi Monokey side cases. You WILL need side case loop style racks to use this system. The monokey side cases have little rubber mounting points on them for Givi luggage, so they interfere a little bit. The monokey system is nice though as with three quick releases you can take off each side when not in use.

My bike, 2018 Triumph Tiger 800 XCA, has passenger hand holds that cause the top side bags to be forced a little outward. I can't take off the hand holds as they also serve as the mount for the luggage rack. Take off the luggage rack and you've got exposed wiring. That's really dumb Mr. Triumph.

Biggest difference between soft and hard luggage IMHO, is that I'll have to unstrap it to take it into the hotel room so It doesn't get stolen, and it's going to weigh a lot, and you'll likely be carrying it with one hand due to the design, and you probably wouldn't want to walk away from the bike for any extended period of time. However in a get-off, much less chance to injure my legs, and much less weight. That's why I went with soft luggage despite the drawbacks.

The lower "garage" compartment on the left side sticks out just a bit past the width of the handlebars. Seems like they could have made it deeper instead of wider. This might have something to do with the design of the Givi Monokey cases though. The right side doesn't as it's intentionally narrower due to a right side exhaust.

As Spurge mentioned in the video, the case edges could have been a bit more tidy. Minor point though as he says.

For something in this price range would have liked to have seen 5-7 more strap keepers included. I'll have to use hairnet loops or plastic ties or something.

Should be a fifth dry bag inside the top case like the sides.

IMHO, there should have been more plastic buckles or even better more cam lock buckles added to the straps that go through the passenger foot pegs, so you wouldn't have to thread in the morning and unthread at night. To remove with a packed top case in the hotel parking lot, you'll have to loosen up the two top case straps, loosen up the two center rack adjustment straps, unhook two hooks at the side rack locations inside the lowers, and then loosen up the rear attachment strap. Two more plastic buckles or cam locks (with strap keepers), for the footage straps would have made this a bit quicker process.

So far would I recommend this product. Yes.

well made but useless
I have and use these on a regular basis and every time I do I wish I had bought something else. The quality is second to none but the design is flawed. The ridged flat panel between the panniers seems to fit nothing, I have a ktm990 and a R1100GS its too wide for one and too narrow for the other, the panel is so large front to back that you end up sitting on the leading edge, if you take the bags out to carry something else there is no way to securely close the lower compartment. And a hundred and one little things that just annoy in use. No question the quality is there but the design is useless and I would recommend spending you hard earned cash elsewhere.

Will this system work with a rack from Jesse Luggage on a Tiger 800XC? The Jesse boxes have a cutout on the exhaust side and the rack system matches that profile. The right side of the rack is not flat but has two separate hoops which are offset from one another with the lower one being 3 1/2 inches further out and 4 inches lower. The hoops on each set are separated by about 2 1/2 inches.
