AltRider Crash Bars Yamaha Super Tenere XT1200Z
Now that you’re the proud owner of a Yamaha Super Tenere XT1200Z, you want crash bars to protect it. AltRider's are built from one inch stainless steel so they’ll never rust, and feature beautiful hand TIG welds.
In designing these crash bars, AltRider went through the trouble of maintaining the hidden connector in the front to yield a seamless system. Why is that important? It means the energy of a hard impact on one side can be transferred throughout the bars and to the other side. The three mounts on one side don’t have to take an entire impact load; instead, it is distributed across six mounts so none of them are overwhelmed. All of this is important because the crash bars will not only protect the fairing in the case of a crash, but also the Super Tenere’s exposed radiator.
AltRider also conducted a thorough study to identify the bike’s contact points when on its side. This led to a crash bar design that offers a wide contact area between the crash bars and the ground. The other contact points will be the handlebar bar ends, and rear passenger peg – protecting the fairing, engine, radiator, and brake and shifter lever.
Additionally, AltRider ensured the glove box side panel will have plenty of clearance to be easily removed while bars are still installed.

Reviews & Questions
My bike lowsided and slid aver 200ft.
This crash bar did an amazing job.
Amazingly no damage to the bike other than some damage to a side case.
The bike went down and thanks to the elaborate design of the crash bar it kept the bike down and flat... it just slid to a stop and did not bounce around.
The crash bar did get ground down a bit, but it's still good to go. Being stanless the scratches won't rust. Two Thumbs up!

The bars are very unobtrusive when installed, they seem to 'melt' into the bike.
These are sturdy and solid mounted. Once they are bolted up they are going nowhere. The way they come together in the middle distributes the weight off the bike across the entire bar set up if it falls over. It has good protection on the right hand side for the radiator/fan, not perfect, but adequate. They are far enough off the bike to still allow the removal of the side panels. You will have to remove the bars to replace the stock battery on the Tenere if you need to.
These, in my opinion, are worth their weight in gold.
They still look great after a couple of years of use.
I have not crash tested them (OK by me), but I did tip over test them about three times (embarrassed to say, although it was a couple of years ago when the bike was newer). Two of the tipovers were on pavement. One of the them was a stall out and slow tip, another was when I had parked the bike running in neutral on a downslope, the other was in a carpeted garage. In all cases, the bars did their job, not a mark on the bike other than a small scuff on a handlebar brush guard. The black finish on the crash bars did get scratched up, but not a big deal to me. I could use a black Sharpie to cover it up. At least they won't rust where they are exposed.
installation was pretty straightforward. I left all the bolts loose until the end which helped I think.
I can get the side covers off without having to remove the bars. Nice for putting a tender on the battery.
Can't think of anything bad to say about them!

I purchased these bars for my Yamaha Super Tenere. These crash bars are very strong and the design is excellent. The Altrider bars will definetly protect the upper sections for the bike where all the electrical and cooling systems are. They are a little pricey but the cost to replace the parts it protects is 3 times as much. It took all of 20 mins to install and the instruction were right on. I would recommend these to anyone who takes the high dollar Adventure bike offroad.
If your motorcycle is other than a Super Tenere they will have a video for the bike you are buying for. I also have their bash plate and tank bag and all have a video for them. The instructions on paper that come with their products are plain and clear to read and understand with good pictures. I put the crash bars on myself but an extra pair of hands would have made it easier for alignment the rest of it is easy if you have the right tools. I think AltRider makes a great product.
Do these crashbars work with Yamaha OEM skid plate ?
