Great 3 season jacket
This is a great 3 season jacket. I'm a smaller build, I'm 6 ft., 150 lbs, with a 35 in chest. I bought a medium. It fits well, and I even have enough room to wear a light sweater underneath during the colder mornings. The airflow is fantastic under the lower arms. A great buy and it looks great as well.

Excellent jacket for Los Angeles commute
This jacket provides a lot of airflow! I feel like the wind is hugging me and keeps the armpits dry and fresh!

It is also very comfortable and along with the back protector (not included) feels like it will provide plenty protection in case of an accident.

Great looking summer jacket for the price.
Great all around jacket for late spring/all summer/early fall. Awesome airflow (the name fits well), good shoulder/elbow protection (though the back protection leaves something to be desired). I'm somewhere in between a medium and a large and since this was for spirited summer sportbike riding I went a with the medium for a more contoured fit. The arms fit well (both length and width) but the torso is a little on the tight/short side (I have short legs and a long torso for my height). I'm 5'8" with a 33-34" waist. The jacket looks awesome with my A-star summer gloves and S-MX 1 boots. The only real negative so far is that the mesh behind the wrist zippers got badly caught within the first couple of days and tore a small hole in the mesh (I sealed the fray with a lighter and haven't had any issues with further tearing), so be careful to push the mesh in when zipping those open and closed. Would be nice to have a few more open ventilation areas (with zippers) on the back of the jacket for those extremely hot Phoenix summer days, but the airflow is already so good that most people probably won't find it necessary.

Loose and Cheap, but looks great
I own several A-stars mesh jackets, and always get a Large. Well, this is undoubtedly the loosest one of the bunch. Last year I got the T-GP-Pro air and the fit on that one is amazing, particularly in the arms.

The arms on the Viper are very loose, I have to agree with the other reviewer that the armor is misplaced (too low) and barely covers the end of the elbow, it is also pretty darn loose and the armor could move out of place in a crash. The upper arms are also huge and flap wildly in the wind. I have 12 inch forearms and 15 inch biceps. I kept the large because the torso is correct, and the looseness may favor better cooling anyway.

The shoulder armor position is also strange and hardly covers the front of the shoulders, however it fits well and covers the sides and back of the shoulder, so it might work well, actually, just different than normal.

The back protector insert will only take a nucleon, as the bionic air will not fit, luckily I was able to swap some protectors around and make all the jackets happy. The old bionic air chest protectors do fit, however.

The mesh front and back, top to bottom, and including the zippered forearms are awesome, its a wind tunnel I tell you, nice and dry with virtually no trapped moisture. This is the main reason I bought this model. That and the styling on the Black-White, with black gloves, and black helmet is just the right amount of flash / sportbike guy for my taste without overdoing it.

Finally, the zippered forearms is in my least favorite position, right on the inside and threaten to scratch the tank when cornering, but perhaps a necessary evil to keep bugs from flying in when unzipped.

The jacket is a bit cheaper than my other A-Stars mesh jackets, particularly in the fit, but I love the styling and the mesh, I have no complaints and look forward to using it this Summer with my Revit cooling vest.

Great Jacket but Runs Small small small
Great looking jacket and it really gives you a solid feeling of added protection. I had a problem getting the correct size. It runs really small. I typically wear an XL as i am a bit stocky at 5ft 11in 235lbs but i ended up with a 3XL to be able to get the wind proof liner done. Thats why i like to shop with Revzilla. Ordered 2xl the first time and then returned for free and got free shipping on my 3xl. Great place to buy from.

Great jacket
This jacket is awesome at firsr glance.. Perfect for the summer months and lat spring early fall, windflow is great! The only complaint about it is the sizing, size chart got me up to a 3xl somehow but the sleevs were long and it fit a tad loose, but other than that im happy with this sub200$ jacket

Awesome
I love this jacket. It fits great, breathes like it isn't there and makes me feels safe. I used it for the first time in Phoenix at 3 in the afternoon in June. It was somewhere around 110F and I felt fine as long as I was moving. I haven't tried riding with the vest liner yet but I keep it folded up in the inside pocket where i can't even tell it's there. I added to CE2 back insert from A* (which I can also barely feel) and i love it too.

Large size fits perfectly just like my Gunner jacket. I'm almost the same measurements as High Viz Brian in the video so it fits true like they said it would.

My only complaint is the elbow armor is a little loose putting the jacket arm but once I move it into place and zip the sleeve it doesn't budge.

Buy it now.

Great for the value, but had size issues.
This jacket is solid. The quality is outstanding for the price, as it is very comfortable to wear. I did not get to test this jacket on the road because the elbow armor did not fit. I ordered a small and medium size, and in both sizes the elbow protectors moved freely from the impact position. This might be due to the fact that i have a slim body figure, with slim arms. However, ventilation seems superb, and the double-way wrist zipper is a very neat feature. I also liked that there were 3 pockets on the inside, and 2 on the outside.

Great jacket, one gripe
This is an alpinestars jacket, so the quality is through the roof. The tops of the arms and shoulders are textile, while the front and rear of the torso is mesh. If it's 85 plus, as long as you open the zippers on the sleeves and are moving at least a little bit you'll have good airflow (at 50+ mph your jacket will actually blow up like a parachute), but get stuck in traffic and you'll know it.

The only complaint I have is the removable wind blocking VEST. The mesh panels on the sleeves still flow air, which is a problem if it's under 70 degrees. On the otherhand, I have a 42 inch chest and got a large, there's enough room to where a hoodie underneath it. With a full sleeve liner this jacket would be perfect.

Fantastic summer jacket
I lamented for a couple of weeks about buying my first summer jacket. I was wearing my Cortech winter coat I bought last fall and was absolutely sweating to death in these warm spring days. I needed a summer coat.

I'm glad I picked this one!

I looked at several ICON jackets at the encouragement of my GF, who is a big fan of all ICON gear. All of them didn't seem to fit me well, and it seemed like the armor in the arms was below the elbow. I tried other brands too and couldn't find one I liked. Then I found this Alpinestars. Glad I did.

The jacket fit me great all around, has great features, and is priced right. First time I wore it was on a 90 degree day, and rode for 2-1/2 hours. Never broke a sweat. Great airflow and very comfortable.

Recommended. I will be buying a better piece of back armor for it that would be my only minor issue with it.

My current summer mesh jacket is starting to fade and I'm a little concerned it isn't as sound as it used to be. Also, it is larger than it should be for good protection and doesn't have a liner. The new jacket should fit well and has a liner.

The jacket looks great and after one season it seems to be holding up perfectly well. The fit is fantastic I am 5 ft 9in tall 140lbs and a small fit perfectly. It gets a little hot in summer, but i did get it in black. Over all I am extremely happy with my purchase and I would recomed this jacket if you are looking for a sporty textile jacket in this price range.

Been wearing this for a full year. Wear great for warmer weather, you get a decent air flow. During the fall had to wear under layers, but other than that it did its job.

Felipe O on Jan 2, 2017
This jacket is great for staying cool in hot weather and if you are tolerant to cold then this is definitely a 3 season jacket with the help of a base layer. There are complaints about the elbow guard sliding down towards the forearm and I have to agree but it isn't much of a problem once you adjust it stays put while you're riding. Waterproof vest underneath does its job. Collar doesn't irritate. Overall, this is a great jacket!

What does the back of the 2016 Black, Red and White Alpinestars Viper Air look like?
A C on Mar 21, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Pretty much the same as the front.
Does the white get dirty quick? If so is it easy to wash?
A C on Mar 30, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Haven't tried to wash it yet (though I'm guessing it's not very difficult to do after removing the tech liner) but I haven't had any issues with dirty lettering yet. I've put about 300-400 miles on the jacket so far and it still looks fresh.
Would this jacket, the Alpinestars Viper Air Textile jacket, be able to zip onto a pair of Dainese New Drake Air Textile pants?
Daniel S on Oct 8, 2016
I just purchased this jacket in a size large. I'm 6'0 so that was a main factor in me selecting a size large. Problem is I tried the jacket on and everything felt good except for the arms, they seem to be a bit too long, and the elbow guards seem really loose and ride way too far forward. Are there any tips to making the elbow guards secure the elbow area more? Or is medium the only option? I’m just afraid if I choose medium the jacket won’t be long enough to cover my torso.
Anthony T on Sep 3, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I haven't found a solution to keeping the elbow pads in place other than to scoot them up before every ride, but I can tell you that the medium is just barely long enough to cover my torso and I'm 5'8" (though I do have an abnormally long torso for my height). I can't imagine a medium fitting someone over about 5'10" with an average torso.
Hi guys, I'm keen on the alpine stars viper air textile jacket.
My measurements are;
Height: 6' 2"
Chest: 44.9"
Waist: 36.6"
Arm: 27.2"
Weight: 190lbs
Fairly tall and lean, athletic build.
Trying to decide between XL and 2XL.
Any advice?
A shopper on Aug 3, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Hey, I'm thinking the XL will fit you perfect.
I got the L and it's a little to big.
I'm 6ft, 42"chest, 33"waist, 190lbs.
Are the sleeves slim enough for a pair of sp-8 gauntlets to fit over it without being overly bulky?
Dylan F on Apr 10, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I wore a pair of A*'s GP Plus gloves over the original version of this jacket and they paired well together.
