Best bang for the buck
I'm too lazy to review something unless it is exceptionally good or exceptionally bad. These gloves are exceptionally good. I bought them when getting into supermoto racing thinking it'd be good enough to get me through a few weekends until I could get something better. That was 3 years ago. Since then, these gloves have been through at LEAST a dozen low speed crashes on the track (on a .4 mile kart track road racing XR100s), two moderate speed street crashes (~30mph), & countless off road get offs when using these as a cold weather off road glove. I've used them for motorcycle commuting at least 15,000 miles as well, they've been left outside to freeze, to nearly melt, to get partially buried by the dog once, & they just keep holding up. Only after all that abuse has the palm on the left hand glove begun to wear through (with the right not far behind in the same spot). In that period of time, I've worn through/destroyed (from crashing) a comparably priced set of Shift gloves that came apart after one slow crash at the track, a cheaper set of Shift gloves that came apart at the seams, & a set of Tourmaster winter gloves that came apart resulting from a moderate speed dirt road crash.

The airflow was much better on the comparable shift gloves, but not enough to justify destruction after one crash vs dozens. They don't have any frills for extra wrist protection, but the knuckle protection is quite good & the price reflects the lack of integrating advanced technology. Assuming they make these as they did in 2012/13(ish), I can't recommend them highly enough. It's hard to find a solid post-crash review of motorcycle gear, but I'm that crash test dummy, & I vouch for these being a fantastic entry level leather gauntlet glove.

Great slim fit, not bulky but lightweight
I purchased this as a replaced for my alpinestars sp-1 gloves.
These are much cheaper in price but the quality and feel of it is better than the sp-1 I think. My sp-1 gloves were very bulky, heavy, and took some time to put on. These sp-8 gloves are very slim, light, and easily slip on. I really love these cheaper gloves to the more expensive version.
I would recommend!

A bit premature but...
Only did 150 miles today but my initial impressions are on the positive side. On the fitment side and sticking with only A* gloves they are consistent. I wear a large in A* and have A* Apex DS and SMX-3 Air. All three fit me well enough.

I would have preferred the micro velcro as provided on the Apex DS but won't complain too much. Velcro is Velcro but the micro is nice and provides enough "stick" when it comes to the gauntlets.

Regarding air flow...cold mornings you will feel air flow. Hot afternoons you may not notice but it is there. These are not a "mesh" summer glove. The perforations work without sacrificing protection.

They do feel a bit weird going from a full mesh to a full "winter" glove but I acclimated just fine today. I needed something in between and these do seem to fit the bill. I think after a little break in period they will be very nice gloves.

I'll come back and update if I find a serious flaw but so far I like them well enough. They are a bit stiff but being leather I think they will "loosen up" and conform to my hands and be a pretty good all around glove for commuting.

My commute consists of high desert extremes (cold and hot) to heading down to valley extremes of warm and extremely hot. They did well enough today with 50ish morning temps and high 80ish/low 90ish temps coming home.

Time will tell...

a mixed bag
I bought these glove and the day after went on a 2200 mile tour around the great lakes on my 2013 street triple r. During the trip I experienced freezing cold rainy weather and 80 degree stop start traffic. So its safe to say I put these gloves through a lot.
First off, comfort.... They run small and stiff there is no way around it, they are tight in the palm even after you break them in and if you plan on wearing inner glove liners the problem obviously gets even worse.
When it comes to protection its another mixed bag. Despite being a full glove by no means is this a track ready glove. There is no real finger protection or hard wrist protection, however the knuckles have sliders.
Lastly, Temperature control, these gloves are kinda the master of none when it comes to this. Based on my riding they do great with low 70 high 60 degree riding anything else you run into either the glove doesn't breath enough to do well with the heat, or the glove is too thin and your hands freeze. Even with inserts sub 50 degree weather is quite unpleasant.

When it comes to recommending the protect, I'm sorta in a maybe camp. if you can deal with the short comings and you love the look, go for it. But if u need a do everything glove i dont think this is it.

Nice gloves
Needed track gloves and this one was a perfect fit. It fits nicely and comfy as well. The only problem is that the air flow isn't that great but I can live with that. Overall awesome set of gloves. Good for a day at the track.

Great glove
Fit perfect. When wearing with my leather jacket, my arm feels indestructible. Bought the short style glove first, didn't fit with my leather jacket sleeve. Revzilla exchanged them for this gauntlet style quickly and with no problem.

Saved my hands
I used these as my track day glove. I low sided on turn 2 on the track . Gloves ripped at the palm where the padding is and at the edge of the knuckle from me sliding. Walked away with no cuts or scratches. I do recommend on going to the next step up though. I plan on doing so next time but these will work if your on a budget

good protection and style, but poor ventilation
These are great for the price, they are true to size towards the smaller side, so if you are on the line in the sizing chart go with the bigger option. The style and design is okay, where these gloves lack is in the ventilation department. I tend to sweat a lot and my hands were drenched after an hour of riding, not sure if entirely me... Overall it's a good buy just keep the ventilation in mind

Excellent Quality Gloves
Bought this to be a heavier, more protective product than the mesh gloves I usually ride with. The ventilation could be a bit better for our hot Florida summers but the gloves are still very wearable. I noticed the fit was tight for my hand size (medium) initially but did tend to loosen up with use. These are quality leather gloves with built-in protection so take some getting used too if one has always worn lightweight gloves. Overall, a very nice product, typical of Alpinestars gear.

Very good gloves for street or occasional track
Overall: Excellent bang for buck in protection and comfort.
Fit: I take XL gloves and the AStars SP8 fit well; not tight, which I like.
I'm a Harley rider, very experienced, don't go to the track often, don't have high-end 'track' gloves, so keep that in mind you track folks.
Comfort, Air, Flexibility: Broke them in on four bicycle rides, two hours each in 90+ degree heat. Broke in after first hour and now are flexible and responsive to my hands. My hands were a little hot, sweated on the bicycle.
On motorcycle these don't flow much air, they're not mesh. They're pretty touch leather and fabric. But they are not hot. Took several 3+ hour motorcycle rides in 85 - 90 degrees and my hands did not over heat. But, these are not 'summer' casual riding gloves.
Oh, no wrist strap as is often recommended for track gloves but the very tight and sturdy elastic at the wrists holds these gloves on well. In a get-off, they'd be fine... probably.
On the track for 10 hour day 85 degrees the SP8s were fine, because you're not riding all the time.
Protection: Haven't crashed. Compared to there gloves I have they seem tough, but hard-core track or fast backroads folks will probably want more technical features and protection.
Conclusion: I love the SP8: track 'legal,' responsive, good protection.
