Breezy new kicks
Roam 2 Air boots arrived at my door today from Revzilla. These were purchased for commuting and light, on-road touring duties in warm weather. I threw them on and ran some errands with the bike. Initial impressions:

Protection in the toe, heel, and ankle I'd describe as markedly better than a hiking boot, but not as beefy as the A-stars SMX3's I own. Which makes sense given the CE rating for Roam 2. Height is typical of a touring boot and shin protection is provided by what feels like a plastic insert and noticeably thicker foam in that area. Happy to have the shin protection.

These are lighter and more comfortable for walking, brand new, than my SMX 3's which are broken in. The Roam 2 sole has more flex in it as well, but again I'd say is stiffer than a hiking boot.

Mid Atlantic summers are hot and the traffic sucks. So do hot, sweaty feet, hence the purchase of the Roam 2 Air's. And they flow ALOT of air. Felt like I had a mesh sneaker on. Nice.

I usually wear a size 13 running shoe. My foot width is normal. These Roam 2's are marked 47 euro, 12 US and fit me more accurately. Adjustability is provided around the foot, ankle, and leg by 3 Velcro closures. The larger one at the top of the boot is the most effective, less so in the 2 smaller straps. The boots feel secure on my foot. They go on and off quick and easy.

Feel on the pegs and controls is good and the boots do not feel bulky for an armored boot. Sole feels nice and grippy on the road.

I don't see any noteworthy con's in the design, given the intended function and price.

For my needs, my favorite features: Light weight, yet armored. Excellent air flow. Adjustable fit. Shin protection. Neutral, non bulky styling/appearance. Comfortable on and off the bike.

Pleased with this product.

MONEY$$ Well Spent
This is my first pair of riding boots. I waited too long before making this upgrade and I'll never go back to wearing tennis-shoes while riding. The boots provide better ventilation and support to your feet, they are comfortable and move a lot of air around your feet. My last ride was a full days ride in 85 plus degree high humidity weather and these boots did not disappoint. In addition, the boots are not heavy in weight and they have a lot of give in the arch-support. I have recommended them to my friends and I would definitely buy them again.

Thought it was going to be great.
So, I bought these boots almost a month ago after reading a significant number of reviews and looking for a summer boot that would flow a lot of air. When I got them, I thought they looked fine and were comfortable, so I started riding with them. I'm generally a commuter, but take some long-ish (for me) trips in them too, so I was trying to get an all-around feel for them. Unfortunately for me, after a month and a little more than 2,000 miles, the right boot seam around the middle mesh and perforated leather have come undone and is big enough to stick 2 fingers through. Because of that, I'm not confident that these could protect me in an off, so I'm going to return them and avoid A* moving forward. Their durability on a significant number of products seems to be falling short lately, and sadly, these boots are no exception.

Toebox not strong
Starting with the negatives first:
The left toebox crushed the first week from using the shifter lever during normal riding. The toebox seems to be made out of some kind of plastic so the deformation is permanent and i can feel it on my big toe constantly. The term "ankle cups" is misleading because there seems to be no ankle protection at all, the only thing that looks to be ankle protection is just a double layer of the synthetic leather. there is no noticeable difference when feeling the "ankle cups" vs the rest of the boot construction. The velcro stitching is starting to unravel. I have very little confidence that my foot will withstand a hard impact and not have a few broken toe/ankle bones.
Pros:
Flows a lot of air and is very comfortable, minus the irritating left toe box problem. The sizing was spot on. I am size 9 with a little above average footed width, ordered size 43 and the boot fit perfect.

Overall this boot looks good, fits good and flows a lot of air, however the perceived protection from the "The dual density ankle cups and heel and toe counters" is complete non-sense. I would return these based on the weak toe box construction.

Dry feets!!
If you like your feet dry then give these a try. Only had them out on a couple trips so far, and nothing hotter than 70F. Stopped at the river a few times and hiked around and could feel my feet getting soaked. Hopped on the bike and the feet were dry in minutes. Also forgot what boots I had on, stepped into ankle deep water and they did better than expected. Traction isn't bad but if the soles are wet you might be going on a trip within a trip and we will see you next fall.

Personally I feel they run a little big and are not as stiff as they are made out to be. I would have liked to see the velcro flip flopped. My nice socks don't like the hooks too much which makes the boot a bit more work to get off.
Overall I'm pretty stoked.

Enjoy

Fantastic boots for commuters
I have these boots 3 months and I think they may well be the best fitting most comfortable boots I've had, I had RST Razor Sport that fell apart in a year before hand. Really happy with these, As Anthony says in the video a stiff boot but I wear them in the office and around town when I have to, no problems, they are no stiffer than most boots. I'd buy again.

This boot is full of holes
And holes are a good thing. Entry hole is large enough for easy entry and then it straps down snuggly. Once on the road all those little bitty holes add up to a breeze you can feel. In town, they're hot. Duh. But get out on the road and you can feel the air moving through enough that my foot were dry at the end of a summer ride. Have only had them one season so no idea about durability. They were worth the $$.

I love these boots!
First, the fit is slightly large. I ordered a size 45 (tag also says 10.5) inside the boots. I typically wear a size 11, however these boots are size 10.5 and fit fine. I'd suggest ordering down a size instead of up.

Overall, these boots are amazing. Amazing airflow - the first few times I used the boots in colder weather my toes began to get cold. However, now in the warmer weather these boots are fantastic.

Easy on and off with these boots - 3 velcro straps. After a month I am still breaking them in a bit however they are starting to fit amazing.

Would definitely recommend these boots for someone who won't be going to the track, instead for someone who is shredding it up on the weekend (I also use these for when I commute to work, they're super comfortable).

comfortable boots
I bought these for my boyfriend as a gift. He loves the boots. We had to return them few times to get the size right but true to what others have said the boots run a little big. So best to buy a size smaller. He loves them because they are comfortable on and off the bike and have great airflow when he is riding. Worth the money.

Very comfortable boot on the very first ride. I followed recommendations on size. I wear a 12, went with a 46. Nice airflow especially when point toes down. Love the look.

Needed an air boot that would not snag on serrated footrests, as boots with vertical velcro overlap to close boot on inside of boot were doing. Velcro/leather overlap part would catch on pegs sometimes when rapidly moving foot from peg to ground to kerp from falling over when going slow in dirt.

I am an 8.5. Should I purchase 8 or 9?
Michael L on Feb 23, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I wear a 10 allday long in most shoes but got the 9.5 usa 44 eur....in the roam 2 air....great fit and almost to much air on some mornings....I LOVE THESE BOOTS
Are these boots vegan? At part of the video Anthony mentioned some materials were vegan, then also said there was leather (not sure if he meant synthetic leather).
Carson A on May 3, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Im not a materials or boot manufacturing expert but these do not appear to have any real leather on the exterior. The toe, heal and upper cuff are designed to look like leather more than perferated and flex sections, but at this price i doubt they are genuine.
How long will the Velcro last? My experience with load bearing Velcro is mixed.
These would be my daily commuter boots
Noah J on Jun 27, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The velcro overlap is twice the size of my other boots, which are fine after four years four days per week 2 hrs per day average. Think soul will wear out first.
Do these have a reinforced toe box?
Christopher C on Apr 17, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes, the toe and heel are reinforced. Not bulletproof, but good protection for road riding.
are these boots water proof?
A shopper on Jun 6, 2016
BEST ANSWER: No, they are not waterproof. I can feel air coming in across the top of my foot when riding,.., the ventilation holes in the boots are too large to keep water out. Water will come into the boots the same way the air does. They are not made of Gore-Tex or other "breathable" fabric - they are perforated. Great for summer riding, though.
Is this boot waterproof?
A shopper on Apr 5, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The non Air version are waterproof if I remember correctly, Alpinestars Roam 2 WP Boots.
Can a pair of motorcycle jeans fit over these?
Michael M on Mar 18, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I love these boots but my jeans won't even come close to fitting over the brim. I'm not even certain a pair of 60's bell bottoms would do it.
I wear a 11.5 shoe should I get a 11.5 boot ?
A shopper on May 6, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I wear an 11.5 and got the 11.5 boots (size 46). They were a little roomy but I put thicker insoles in them (Walgreens Memory Plus Work Insoles) and they fit better and are very comfortable.
What is the height of the boot from bottom of heel sole to top of cuff?
Gerald S on Jul 23, 2016
BEST ANSWER: This may vary depending on size but my 41's ...
Back dips down, so 9-5/8 there. Top at front of shin to sole bottom is 11" as is midpoint of cuff to bottom of sole.
