I want more than basic protection while riding. If something happens I want to have a better chance to walk away!

To go with Alpinstars race suit.

The East Coast Timing Association recommends back protectors for land speed racing(which is my application). I specifically chose the Alpinestars Nucleon KR-R Race Back Protector because it integrates with the Alpinestars Motegi 2-piece race suit that I am purchasing separately.
Richard W on Sep 7, 2016
I bought a jacket with the ability to use this protector so I bought this. The ratings of this protector is outstanding and I do plan of going to a track.

Have a A* GP Pro race suite so an upgrade to the back protection in this suite. I also purchased the A* Hades jacket and hoping this will fit in there as well...

EXCELLENT LEVEL OF PROTECTION AND CONFIDENCE BOOSTER
Stetson W on Nov 20, 2015
Offers the protection level I was looking for to participate in Track Days and it attaches directly to the Alpinestars Motegi suit that I have.
AGreen14 on Oct 22, 2015
Using with the AStars Motegi race suit for a track day because most race suits do not have level 2 back protection and if they do they are much more expensive than the Motegi.

Better protection than the insert. Safety

Needed to replace older, worn out bionic protector.
B P on Jun 15, 2015
Wanted the full back protection vs the inserts that only cover part of the back. Plus it snaps right into the GP-R jacket i bought.

I was sold by the video. Great idea and great execution.

What are the length measurements of all the sizes of these protectors? I'm kind of in between sizes according to the sizing chart.
Jesse D on Jun 28, 2015
Hello, which other (if any) Alpinestars back protectors have the snap attachment? I have an Alpinestars GP-R leather jacket with the snap attachment and I'd like to know which back protectors fit this.
Thank you,

BEST ANSWER: The "Nucleon KR-R Race Back Protector" and the "Bionic Race Back Protector"
Can this be worn under a two piece suit, or does it have to be used under a 1pc?
Ayush S on Feb 25, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I wear it under a two piece suit and it is great.
How thick is the KR-R?
A shopper on Jun 15, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I love it, it's very comfortable. I hardly notice that I am wearing it. I never take it off my jacket. The belt crow it's going to loose the sticking feature, but don't panick. I carefully, with a lighter, burned the little things causin the problem. It works well.
Unlike other back protectors, this one covers your lower back very well.
I am 5-10. What size would be best? I am thinking a large. Any help would be appreciated.
A shopper on Oct 31, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The size you buy is related to you T shirt size.
You are probably right on the cusp of medium or large. I'm 6'2' and I got a large. It is about right for me but I wish it was a little bigger.
Hope this helps.

Oh and if you taking this on the track I recommend to get the shoulder strapped one not the one that clips into the suit. You are going to want to take off the top half of you race leathers and the clip on top makes that rather annoying to clip and unclip all day because it's on your back where it's hard to reach.
I'm planning to wear this under my Dainese Laguna Seca one-piece race leathers. No mating snap in the Dainese suit. Is this a problem?
I like the lack of shoulder straps, which will make it easier to get the suit on. I figure the Nucleon KRR will be pretty well fixed in place by the tight fit of the suit (similar to Dainese Manis T protector).
Dan B on Apr 5, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Probably will be just fine.
I would prefer to have the sholder straps even with the suits that clip on as i am not a fan of how it clipes onto my Allinetars Atem. Basically snaps onto the liner which is held in place on top buy just a few velcrows.
So ill probably be wearing mine like yours too most days. Stays in place just fine but personally i would prefer the shooder straps.
According to the Alpinestars site, the KR-R is compatible with the KR-CiR Chest protector. How can it be attached? That way I'd get Level 2 protection for back AND chest.
A C on Jan 17, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The KR-CiR type of protector isn't actually attached to anything, It's designed to slip into the front of your leathers, and be held by friction (you can easily see this kind of thing in action if you watch racing on TV... the racers unzip and pull the protector out). What this means is that you cannot realistically use it with a baggy touring-type jacket. Should work fine with any sport-type jacket that fits properly.
Could you please help on sizing? I have a GP-Tech 52, should I buy the Large or Medium one? Thanks a lot in advance.
A shopper on Mar 22, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I would guess Medium, that is what I went with.
Is this compatible with the KR-C Chest Protector?
