Hasn't worked out so well
The idea of this shoe is excellent. A motorcycle shoe that looks like a shoe, but is waterproof and offers a certain level of heel protection. The execution, however, I'm not so sure about. I have always had good experiences with Alpinestars products, but this one fails. My intended purpose for this shoe, whether it was really designed for this or not, is to have an all day shoe that starts on the motorcycle, continues at work, and ends after the commute back home.

Unfortunately, It's not that simple.

Do not expect to be able to wear these as regular shoes and last any length of time. The tread depth on the bottom is shallow. To be fair, maybe they weren't designed to be used this way, but after only a few weeks of daily wear, the tread on the bottom in critical areas is gone and the sole is too slippery for the shoe to be useful. The actual body of the shoe has held up very well, but because the sole is slick in spots, they're useless now.

Are they actually waterproof? Yes. In absolute downpours they are truly waterproof. They are also comfortably warm in the winter, but are too hot to wear in alabama summer. However, even though they are waterproof, I can't use them in the rain because they're simply too slick. Slick enough that I've almost fallen when putting my foot down on wet pavement. If that's not bad enough, they don't grip wet metal pegs at all. It doesn't help that they don't have a heel. They do grip rubber pegs, but only slightly better. What's the point in having a waterproof shoe if it can't grip in wet conditions?

"Well, what if you had not worn them out and only worn them on the bike? Would you like them then?"

Even when they were brand new and the sole wasn't slick they didn't grip very well. So, no. Maybe if they had a normal shoe sole, they would be acceptable, but for now it's a 100% FAIL.

Like I said, I do like Alpinestars products. This is the only problem I have ever had with Alpinestars and I now commute to work in Toucan boots and change into shoes when I get to work. If I could get something like this that would function both as a shoe and a motorcycle shoe and ACTUALLY WORKED, I would buy it. There are good points to these shoes, but nothing redeems them. This shoe looks better in person than it does in the picture. It is also very comfortable. If you use it only for the bike and you have rubber pegs, it'll probably be fine for you.

Slippery soles...
While the shoes are, by them selves, not bad, the fact that a water-proof shoe has such a slippery sole kind of defies its purpose. The sole slides on wet surfaces like on ice, so it's actually kind of dangerous to wear them when it's raining, and when it's not raining - they're way too hot with virtually zero air flow.

Ultimately, since I bought these shoes, I only wore them a few times, and now they're just sitting in the closet.

Not your average riding shoe
I bought these because I needed a shoe that was over-the-ankle for a safety course. I ordered a half size larger because, assuming they would fit similar to converse, I figured they would be a bit narrow in the toe. Which they are but mine fit great after breaking them in for two days. They're very durable and do not hurt your foot when shifting gears. I didn't think the waterproof feature would be necessary, but I was outside in the freezing rain for four hours and my feet stayed warm and dry. I was hesitant to buy a men's shoe because I'm a female but I didn't want any pink junk and I wanted a shoe that would hold up. I definitely recommend!

Nice shoes
I have had them for a few days and love them. Perfect for the Seattle weather. The only thing is that shoe image makes it look like grayish/black but the actual shoe is all black. Though someone did mention that in the Q&A. Nonetheless, I am glad I got them. As others mentioned it's basic on protection but I needed something for the city riding that you can wear all day off the bike too.

Not Bad!
I really like the look. They fit in well with my lifestyle. My office is a casual environment so I can rock em all day. Like Anthony says, the flexible sole and lack of armor should prevent them from being the choice for aggressive riding. In-town duty and the scooter scene are perfect for these boots. I am planning a weekend ride and feel confident with the waterproofing feature. I hope they are not too hot, based on other reviews!

Great casual looking shoes
These shoes have performed as expected. I'm very pleased with them in every regard, with the exception of the sole that wore down quickly. I haven't had any slips yet, but I always have that thought in the back of my head when setting my foot down at a light. I'm giving these shoes 3 stars simply because of the sole issue alone, otherwise they're great.

Pros:
-Stays dry in the rain
-Stylish, many people thought they were regular shoes
-Fit is pretty comfortable even with the added protection

Cons:
-Very disappointed with grip of the soles, they have worn down very quickly to a smooth finish
-Decent protection, but don't consider these for serious safety measures compared to a full solid boot.

Great style for a protective shoe
They look great. So much so that I wish they were a little more comfortable so I could wear them even when I'm not riding. They are a little stiff, but they are still new. I'm pretty sure they will break in nicely like my other alpinestar products.

Perfect shoe
Was looking for a stylish, but functional WP shoe, as I had been caught in the rain several times of late. This one surely does the job! Stylish and kept my socks completely dry in a storm. As I would expect out of any WP lined apparel, it doesn't vent well, but that isn't an issue when I'm wearing it to stay dry and comfortable. Absolutely recommend to anyone, it's worth the price!
