Excellent Commuting Day-Bag
I commute daily on my bike to work - I was looking for something a little bigger than my icon squad 3.0 which I used for a year, and could become big very fast if packed to the brim. The design and finish of the bag is absolutely flawless. The bag isn't large enough to become a giant turtle back, but isn't so small that you have trouble packing your day's supply in there. It isn't very flexible, so it won't become gigantic and bloated if you try to stuff too much in there, which for me is a plus.

I ride daily with my 15" laptop, a camlebak with water, a change of clothes, a 16 oz starbucks tumbler, and a lunch box. The removable laptop organizer has plenty of pockets for my charger, USB drive, cable, wireless earbuds, and my kindle. In the front, I can store my XENA disc lock and some basic tools, a water bottle, and some workout gear.

The included rain cover is pretty slick and stores in the bottom of the bag, and the ability to roll up a jacket with (stowable) hooks is also a fantastic feature. The straps and buckles are much higher quality than your average bag. The shoulder straps are very wide and sturdy as well. I am 6' and 250 lbs and the bag has plenty of adjustability with easy pull tabs. The raised back panel also does a fantastic job of moving air, and I can arrive to work without a sweaty shirt. The front strap also makes moving the bag quickly when its lying on the floor a breeze.

The only thing I would change is adding additional colors, and some organizer pockets. The pockets don't include anything for pens, keys, etc, but the bag still gets the job done - cant think of a better medium sized bag that still fits tightly on your back and doesn't catch wind.

Good pack, could be improved
Overall it's a good pack, I like the helmet carrier and the included tech gear pouch. That being said, there are a few things I think can be improved.

1. The zippers could be much higher quality, I feel like I have to be very careful to avoid breaking them.
2. The water pouch should be more isolated from the main compartment. It just has a mesh separator. Also, the snap on the back for the water tube isn't straight and doesn't stay snapped.
3. There's not enough space for the rain cover, you have to kind of force it into the bottom or use one of the other pockets which leaves less space for your own gear.
4. It would be better if the tech gear pouch had a rigid insert. I took this pack on a trip, had my iPad and the pack was filled with other gear, and I was concerned that my iPad was going to bend from the pressure of the other stuff in there.
5. The side pockets could be bigger, and they are partially blocked by the straps which makes them more difficult to zip and unzip.

Overall I would recommend this product, but I hope that Astars makes some changes to improve it in the future. I'd buy a new version that improved some or all of the above issues.

Great Backpack
Overall, a great backpack. Depends on what you're looking for. I am a commuter biker on a cruiser. It has everything I need, as much as space is concerned. My gym clothes (sneakers included) plus lunch all fit in here, along with my 2 liter water bottle. I'm on a cruiser so am not really worried with the air drag but have never really felt any disturbances with this bag. Clasps up front feel secure and never really worried about my bag falling off. Bag still hasn't torn (4 months of actual use) so cannot comment on long term durability but it is still in tact.

Too expensive for the quality
This is an expensive pack, but I really wanted something that could hold my helmet. It does a great job of that, the helmet system is great. However the zippers on this seem cheap and catch a lot. Also, there are straps on the side of the pack which have cheap stitching. I had my hands full a few months ago so I clipped my helmet (RF 1200) into one of the side straps for a quick trip down to my garage. Along the way the side strap came unstitched dropping my expensive helmet on the concrete floor, ouch!

I emailed Alpinestars customer support, hoping to replace the pack (I'd had it less than 6 months) but they never returned my message. I think I'll avoid them in the future.

Why are the straps twisted?
Overall, the bag will get the job down. Suitable for an over night bag, run to the gym, or full on day trip. Laptop compartment comes out if you don't need it, freeing up space inside.

The Camel back is held in the main compartment, within a mesh pocket on the back wall. While I haven't seen it yet, condensation might be a concern for things put against the pocket.

Compression straps are effective. What pockets there are will come in handy.

Main gripe with the back is that the nylon straps for the shoulder straps, running from the bottom of the bag to the buckle, are irreparably twisted. Each makes a 180 turn between from the bottom to the buckle; With this, if the "quick release" straps are used to tighten the shoulder straps, the 180 degree twist will work it's way into the buckle, jamming the system.
