Great first impression Atem 2016 in Size 54
I ordered this suit, the 2016 model, in the early hours of Friday morning and it arrived at my doorstep about an hour ago. It was like Christmas in March. I also ordered a Nucleon back protector, some gloves (which I am going to try a size larger and then decide which to keep) as well as an SW Motech tank ring and bag. Ordering was easy and delivery quick. First order from Revzilla, well done!

I was leaning toward an Astars GP Pro suit but my wife wanted me to get the best protection I could and said don't worry about cost. Well I worry about cost so decided against a replica suit like the GP tech and I am not racing anyway, just street and some track days. So I thought the Atem would be a good middle ground between top of the line and gets the job done.

So to the suit. First I tried on a Dainese Laguna Seca D1 suit at a local shop to see a starting point. I had been 10 years since I was in a leather suit and that was a suit I borrowed for one day. I was just barely able to fit into a 54 with a chest and back protector with the assistance of an employee at the store. So I ordered this suit in 54 as most of Revzilla and other reviews I have seen seem to suggest Astars is maybe a bit larger in sizing than Dainese. I have owned a mix of Dainese and Astars gear mostly since I started riding over 10 years ago and in general feel the Astars gear has held up better and is of better quality so that is why I decided to buy an Astars suit.

I noticed the calf area is a bit snugger on this suit, the arms and legs aren't quite as long, which is fine because they were a little too long on the Dainese suit I tried. I put on the Atem all the way without the back protector. Quite snug but not bad. Then put the back protector in and still got it on without issue. I could zip it by myself which I could not do with the Dainese. But once zipped up it felt just as snug as the Dainese suit I tried. I assume with more stretch material on the front it just moves a bit better. I zipped everything closed and put on my boots (older Sidi Vertigo Air) and the new gloves I ordered (Astar GP Pro in Medium). All in all had the suit on for 15-20 minutes while trying different stuff and I didn't start sweating at all. Not so lucky when trying on the Dainese suit a few weeks ago. This suit seems to move better and fit better with better cooling. I went out to the garage and sat on my bike and it felt very comfortable while in the riding position (not a full super sport, a V4 Tuono 1100). Anyway the neck area is comfortable, the ankles and wrists are comfortable, the armor didn't dig in anywhere, the zippers work well and everything seems to sit where it should. From a static point of view i couldn't have wanted any better fit.

Hopefully the size up on the gloves helps with the overall mating of the glove to the suit. I will update later with riding impressions if I note any negatives but I don't see any problems with the suit at this point.

On fit, I am 5'11" 198 pounds, 44.5" chest. I have relatively longer legs and a shorter torso wearing 34"x34" Levi's. I have lost some weight recently and plan to get back down to about 188 pounds. This suit is definitely a race fit at my current size. Losing a bit more weight would definitely help with the fit but I could probably still use it as large as 207-210 pounds. I think at about 190 it would be perfect.

Very happy with the suit and the Revzilla experience!

Crash Tested
I purchased this suit back in 2013 because, lets face it, it's a great looking suit packed with excellent protection. Finding a suit that fit was a bit of an ordeal. I did all my measurements and when comparing those t the size chart it was about as clear as mud as to which size was actually appropriate for my build. I tried a 56, 54 and 52 before finally deciding that the 54 was the closest it was going to get. In retrospect, I can't help but to think I should've stuck with the 52. At the time I was just a hair under 6ft and weighed 191. I have long legs and arms but a short torso. Since then I have lost about 20lbs. Needless to say my Atem Suit was definitely fitting a little loose so I was already considering replacement. A recent low side reinforced that decision. The leathers held up pretty well. There are some holes where the elasticated material separated from the leather on the inside part of my forearm. So there is no way I will wear them without first having someone repair just in case I decide to lay it down again. Don't need my suit disintegrating. Soo... while I really liked my A-stars and it saved my bum in the low side, I have decided to try a SPIDI Track Wind Pro to see if it fits a little better overall.
Pros: Great Looks, Durable, Crashed well enough to keep me safe, price point, plastic shoulder and elbow sliders
Cons: Limited Colorways, Sizing is a bit tricky unless you are built like their models. Long arms and legs resulted in a suit that fit loser in the legs and arms than ideal in order to get the needed length.

Big props to Revzilla for their exchange policy. Love that you can order multiple sizes and return/exchange as you sort through to find the best fit. Thanks guys/gals!!

Spent the last year in an AGVSPORT Podium suit. Never went down in it but had a friend with the same suit who i watched lowside at around 80mph on the street and the Podium suit saved his hide. I'm 6ft 230lbs with ape arms and a "rear end" like a water buffalo so i thought that the AGVSPORT was the only option for a guy my size. After the Podium suit broke in i noticed that it definitely stretched out and it was VERY baggy and comfortable. I wanted a new suit that would be more of a race fit and something more advanced. I grabbed a tape measure and saw that, according to alpinestars size chart, that i would fit into their size 60euro suit. I was always under the impression that the euro stuff ran very small and that the size chart was more or less, an educated guess when it came to sizing. Luckily for me the size 60 was spot on and i could go down a size to a 58euro it i wanted and extreme race fit. The suit is extremely stylish and with all of the stretch panels i could put the suit on for the first time and go attack the street with a lot of comfort. The one thing i will say about the suit is that if you arent moving, that bad boy can get hot, so don't forget to wear your Nike headband cuz you gon be sweatin.

Great suit, need to work on the aramid fabric
This is a great overall suit (owned 2 of them already), but the one flaw is the forearm stretch material. It holds up well under a crash, but then has to be replaced as it essentially melts away from sliding. Leather forearms are less comfortable, but much more durable.

This is a great suit, period. Very comfortable, breathes well, and a high degree of protection. The only thing I'm not a fan of is the back protector attachment; that could have been designed better.

At 6'4" and 210 pounds what size should i get ?
Justin P on May 24, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I have a 54 at 5'11" 200 lbs. I would think the 56 would fit you. The 54 legs are pretty good on me but the arms could be shorter. I have longish legs for my size though. I were a 34x34 in Levis jeans. No sure on your chest measurement. The 54 is pretty snug to get on but there is a lot of stretch in this suit. My chest is 45". I have the full back protector and the 2 piece nucleon chest protector as well.
Can you customize different colors for your shoulder sliders and knees? Meaning can they be bought ?
A shopper on Sep 22, 2016
BEST ANSWER: You can ge any knee sliders you want, but the shoulder sliders just come with the suit and are not changeable because the are sewn on the suit
Im 6'2 160lbs, looking at buying a size 54/44 thinking it will fit my height but worried it won't fit my chest and arms i am very tall and skinny do you think with a back and chest protector in it would fill the chest of the suit out enough? Or is that just too big?
Jeffrey K on Jul 6, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I was 5’11 and weighed 200bls when I got the Astar stem suit spring 2016. Had athletic build also. Suit fit spot on with a racing like fit with Forcefield sub4 backprotector. I now weigh 192lbs and it still fit the same. You may need size 52euro or 50euro in will losin up and breakin
Is an undersuit still recommended even though it comes with a liner?
Rasheed H on May 28, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Definitely recommended. I just bought this suit last month and it is pretty tough to get in and out of. The undercut really helps. You might not need a whole undercut, but at least a tight, moisture-wicking long sleeve undershirt. Enjoy the suit, it's very nice.
