AGV AX-8 DS EVO Rossi Soleluna 2015 Helmet

The AGV AX-8 DS EVO Helmet has taken one of the most high-end and lightweight dualsport helmets on the market (AX-8 DS) and has made some significant upgrades. Additional technical features like the visor and visor mechanism, a chin air vent that can be opened, and an open-able supplementary vent on the top of the AGV AX-8 EVO guarantees all the performance and comfort of a road model.

The AX-DS EVO features internal padding with increased thickness for improved comfort and greater stability. YEAAHHH BAAABYYY!!!
Okay. I've got an Arai Vector II and a Bell Carbon special edition as my other helmets. This helmet compared to those, Right on Par. It's light, comfortable, fits great and looks amazing. I've only had it for a short while now, but I have taken several rides with it already, both on local roads, off-road and on the interstate.
As far as some other comments about the noise, yes, it makes noise. But, so does every other helmet I've ever worn. When on the highway I always wear ear plugs anyways and I do not find it overly annoying. The external visor, well I like it. I don't know if they've made changes over the years, but I've been up to 80+ MPH on the interstate and in windy conditions, and to be fair it is an external visor that is going to catch wind. That being said, I didn't notice any overly obnoxious whipping of my head. As a matter of fact I actually thought it was just as aerodynamic as my other helmets without external visors. And as a note of reference, the instructions do say that if you are going to be travelling at speeds above 62 MPH to remove the visor. Just saying.

The chin strap is further back and closer to the throat/ neck, and not as far out toward the chin. That being said, I wonder if this is a new helmet design as my Bell has this as well. Again, I like it. It takes some getting use to but overall it's not that bad. I feel like this adds to the helmet not moving around on my head so much. It's not as far forward and it's under a more secure area of the head, your jaw.
Field of view is the best I've seen in a helmet. Ventilation??? Well I'm not sure yet as the weather has cooled down where I'm at. Plus, the chin vent is removable so as to allow more air to flow. I will have to wait and see about this when it starts getting hot again.
Appearances??? Well if I didn't like the way it looked I wouldn't have purchased it anyway.
Overall, I am happy with the helmet and with Revzilla. I can't say enough about their knowledge, professionalism and the speed at which they get things delivered.
I hope this helps for those considering purchasing this in the future. Have fun, stay safe and keep the shiny parts up.

Terrible aero, vibrations, noise and other issues
I wanted to love this helmet. It's the 4th AGV I have purchased. It looks great and has a hi-viz effect without looking doofy. BUT... the buffeting, the entire helmet has a low frequency vibe which feels kinda like someone drumming their giant soft fingers on the helmet. It's weird and uncomfortable. This starts about 40mph. The peak generates a mid-pitch whistle. It might not effect you, I can make it stop with just a change in head angle but that's annoying to have to do, probably depends on your personal posture and bike aero. Taking the peak off kills that whistle but still leaves the weird brain-rattling vibe.

The other issues:
Visor
The detents on the visor are hugely spaced. These can be swapped for the even more hugely spaced ones provided. They hold the visor well but the spacing sucks. I put an smoked visor on and the lowest detent means there's a really annoying switch from dark to very bright light. The visor is held open over an inch. This is worse if you're riding on light colored concrete roads. It's so disconcerting that I feel I have to close the visor completely or open it completely. The visor CANNOT be swapped without tools, despite what the manual says. You need a screwdriver. Some of the screws on the AGV can be operated with a coin, not the ones holding on the visor or peak. The visor is supposed to be anti-fog but it's not. It will fog immediately without the nose-shield in temps below maybe 60F.

Visibility:
Not as great as you'd expect. The nose shield is HUGE. It sticks more into my vision than my old K3. It can be removed but then the visor fogs. I did get used to this and it may not be an issue depending on your bike and your eyes.

Noise:
Very noisy helmet. Multiple different noises from straightforward wind noise to irritating whistles.

Chin-skirt:
What on earth is this thing? It's garbage. If you forget that the chin vent is externally controlled and you shove a finger behind the chin bar, this thing will fall off. This WILL happen while you're riding. You might be lucky and be able to stick it in a pocket. Or maybe not.

Fit:
It's a great fit and this is the best thing about this helmet. it's comfortable and light. Very tight cheek pads but they break in a little and they're changeable.

Venting:
So-so. Chin vent is large and decent. Brow vents are average. The top-center vent is completely pointless. I tried to remove it to see if it was the source of the noise & vibe - it has a coin-operable screw holding it on. It doesn't actually come off so why that screw is coin operated I don't know. What I did learn is that it scoops air into very tiny hole which explains why it doesn't seem to do anything.

There's no neck-skirt around the back. That's good for warmer weather but you'll want a buff for cooler temps. Other good stuff, it feels well made and is very light. No pressure points and is all-day comfy at low speeds. Great if you're riding around town and want to look good. Terrible if you're riding at highway speeds for long periods.
