Dainese auctions Rossi leathers to support Simoncelli Foundation

Jun 18, 2014

If you watched the Catalunya Grand Prix, you saw the on-board shots of Valentino Rossi from the camera that might best be called the "butt cam" (mounted on the tail of the motorcycle and providing a view of Rossi's tailbone). If so, you couldn't avoid seeing the #thisisforSIC58 message on the back of Rossi's leathers.

The new hashtag is part of a an initiative supported by Dainese, which has just redesigned its website to provide more information on its technical gear for various sports, such as skiing and equestrianism, in addition to motorcycling.

Each week, a Dainese product worn by one of its world championship riders will be auctioned and the proceeds will be donated to the Simoncelli Foundation, in remembrance of Marco Simoncelli. The foundation supports a day center for the disabled in Simoncelli's hometown of Coriano.

First up for auction are these leathers worn by Rossi at the Italian Grand Prix at Mugello. Get the details at the new Dainese website.
