Good enough
I have a pile of balaclavas in the closet. The warmest is the Schampa WarmSkin but I don't wear it because the fleece neck is too thick for the tight-fitting collar of my Motoport jacket's liner. If you wear a more open-collared jacket, check out Schampa.
I was attracted to the mantle (the bit draping around the shoulders) of the Zan because I thought it would add another layer of warmth. If you're standing still without a jacket, the mantle sits just like in the pictures. But when you put on your jacket, the material can easily get pushed around & bunched up on your back. However, the extra material does ensure a greater seal between jacket and balaclava. You don't have to worry about the 'clava popping free when you turn your head or cinch your chin strap.
I have an Aeroflow windscreen on my '05 R1200GS which blocks a significant amount of wind. When the temp was in the teens during my commute this week the Zan kept me comfortable, and sealed the bottom of my helmet nicely. Still, I haven't used any of the other balaclavas in my closet since I got this one.
Also, it worked great for my wife when we went snowboarding in Utah when the temp was in single digits!
