The R-77 is serious business when it comes to performance as it was designed with racetrack feedback from the Yoshimura Suzuki Superbike Team. The R-77's trapezoidal shape allows a large volume of packing material and in turn delivers top performance. With a straight baffle and removable low-volume insert, the R-77 muffler's inlet cap is MIG-welded, while the end cap is riveted using high-end 304L polished stainless steel rivets and bands.
This Full System features the R-77 muffler, stainless steel headers and tail-pipe, step-by-step instructions, and all necessary hardware for installation.

Great performance gains, weight loss, slight locational issue
Bought this exhaust system (full, carbon can) after some research for my new 2011 FZ1. Went with an ECU reflash to uncork all the factory gearing and speed restrictions, also had a custom map loaded for a PCV module by a gentleman on the east coast, and ran the "Lars" airbox mod with a K&N filter. Installed and modded all myself, as I am competent and mechanically minded. System install was moderately difficult to average. First system I have installed on any motorcycle. Fit and finish was very good, compliments the silver FZ1 very well. Took care to use latex gloves and not force anything. Rubber mallet helped to seat head tubes into midpipe. The only gripe I have with the system is the location of the midpipe beneath the bike, as the centerstand springs do rub on the pipe with about a good inch deflection due to the pipe crossing through that area. I feel Yoshi designers should have run that midpipe section closer to the brake-pedal-side of the bike to avoid any spring deflection on the stand. I love the centerstand.
Power gains are the best for the FZ1 on the market. True 150 rwhp, about 77 torque per the developer who made the map with the same setup. Sound is very impressive. About 5,000 rpm begins to bring out a tantalizing snarl in Yamaha's engine cadence, without being too loud or obnoxious. On hard throttle the exhaust is loud but not obnoxious #db-killer insert out#. On cruising speeds the exhaust is pleasingly pleasant and just showing its presence without being obnoxious.
If you are looking for a medium tone from the 998 motor while cruising, this is the system to have. Idle is deep with a hint of snarl when cracked. Deeper tones will have to be Leo V or Dale Walker but then you lose HP and midrange torque. This system takes that "dip" and completely eliminates it, creating a perfectly straight HP curve and perfectly rounded torque curve, of course taking into account the ECU timing and throttle plate position restrictions eliminated. Overall weight drop with the system is about 18 lb. SS headpipe wall thickness is thinner than stock, but I feel it will be durable enough with use and without a lot of stone impacts from the front tire.
Overall very pleased with the appearance and tone. Tuning this motorcycle requires an ECU reflash to access all the goodness without all the modules. It's the way it should be and even with completely stock sprocket ratios, the bike will lift the front with a 2rd gear throttle whack at 60mph. It's that good.
I recommend this system, you don't need to remove the centerstand but there will be some spring deflection with the stand down. No problems otherwise.

Floyd B: What else can I say except for PERFORMANCE!? I do not want the obnoxious noise level of some other Brands I considered... I live in a neighborhood where I am friends with most of my neighbors, and I want to keep it that way. (-: But I had the opportunity to upgrade the exhaust system plus adding the Power Commander 5 system -- including the Auto-tune and POD 300... and so far I am VERY pleased with the results! Not just "faster" on the top end, but across the power-band.Nov 29, 2014
