Two Brothers M-2 VALE Slip-On Exhaust Yamaha FZ1

Each Two Brothers Racing M2 Slip-On features the same high level of quality construction and is designed to be fully-serviceable in the event of damage, routine maintenance or the occasional repack. All TBR’s M series slip-on exhaust systems feature the innovative V.A.L.E. system with CNC'ed aluminum inlets. The V.A.L.E. system is TBR's revolutionary, patented method of attaching the muffler canisters to the mid-pipe without the use of springs or welding. This system allows the muffler assembly - exhaust mid-pipe and canister - to be positioned perfectly on the bike before all the mounting hardware is fully tightened. Once the canister and mid-pipe are properly aligned, the V.A.L.E. assembly locks the muffler canister to the mid-pipe assuring a perfect, leak-free connection.

Two Brothers' mid-pipes are manufactured from .035" thick stainless steel and feature a polished satin finish. They exclusively use 304 stainless steel for its high rust resistance. After a few heat cycles the 304 steel turns a golden amber color, which is the signature of high quality stainless steel. The exhaust note produced by all of Two Bros exhaust systems is best described as being deep and throaty, without suffering from the shrill whine normally associated with other manufacturer's straight through muffler canisters. But this bark would be pointless without a bad bite, so no matter which great sounding TBR’s exhaust you choose they will all reduce weight and deliver additional horsepower and torque.

As the government aka “The Man” pushes for greater emission restrictions, motorcycle manufacturers are forced to make their exhausts heavier and more restrictive. Two Brothers Racing has given the motorcycle community the means to stick it to the man with the M Series Slip-On Exhaust.

Great sound, less weight Bought this for my 2007 FZ1. Install turned out to be a bit of a nightmare but was no fault of two brothers. The FZ1 has the exup system, and there is a little metal plate that covers where the servo cables connect to the exhaust. I ended up having to drill through the plate after I stripped the hex bolts. That plate added more hours then needed to the install. After I got the plate off the install was pretty easy. Getting the exhaust to sit straight up is a bit of trail and error. Definitly louder then stock, but not obnoxious, it adds a nice low end rumble. At high revs this thing screams, but still sounds deeper then stock. It sounds like a monster at high revs when your blazing down the road! As for performance, it didn't seem to hurt low rpm torque and high rpm is more peppy. It's a straight pipe muffler so you can stand a good 10 feet behind the bike and feel the exhaust pulses. One thing I don't like is the aluminum version seems to get scratched somewhat easily, then again road debris would probably do the same thing over time. Maybe using chrome cleaner will take out some of the scratches. July 22, 2015
Good quality and AWESOME sound! I purchased this slip on for my 2012 Yamaha FZ1. My bike sounds like a mean moto GP bike now. Traffic hears me coming and I feel much safer now riding in town. Revzilla got my exhaust to my house very quickly and it came packaged securely. The quality of the carbon fiber black series is great and it looks even better in person! Any video you watch online does not do this pipe justice. It is much louder in person but not uncomfortable while riding at all. Makes your motorcycle so much more fun to ride! I gave 3 stars on install simply because I believe my exhaust was packed with the wrong mid pipe barrel clamp by 2 bros. I called 2 bros and they sent out a new clamp no questions asked! Great service and great product! July 21, 2014
Excellent Product Bought the Two Brothers "Black Series" carbon fiber exhaust canister for my 2012 FZ1. Installation was a breeze - perhaps an hour at the most. Everything fit perfectly and the whole process was seamless from start to finish. The product arrived in less than a week, and I was impressed by the care taken in shipping. The product itself was in the original Two Brothers packaging and very well protected. That box was then inside another box which was an exact fit and added additional protection, then both of the above were inside a larger box that was packed with paper to prevent any rattling or movement. Above and beyond in my opinion. The product appears to be well constructed and looks great on my bike, and really adds a nice growling sound to the exhaust note. In my opinion you lose a little low end torque when compared to the stock exhaust, but the reduced weight, sound, look, and additional horsepower more than make up for the difference. I would strongly recommend this product to anyone. July 15, 2013

A shopper asked: Is it necessary to remap the fuel injection with the installation of just this slip-on for a 06 FZ1? Nov 10, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Kevin W: No. So far I've added the Two Brothers Slip-On (I left the cat in), K&N air filter, and blocked the AIS (this helps eliminate some of the poping noise when decelerating) and the stock CPU had no problem adjusting to these changes. If you do any other modifications, such as an air box mod, flies mod, etc. you will need to remap the fuel injection or you will run lean.

Of course, if you want the full benifit out of any modification, you should have a custom map installed.

There are several discussions about modifications, maps, etc. on the FZ1 Owners Association (FZ1OA) forum fi you need more information.

Also, Copperdawg has several good "how to" videos on You Tube regarding these modifications.

Troy G: If the only thing you change is the exhaust, it may not be a requirement, however you will probably end up with some decelerate popping. I did the Lars intake mod, gutted the cat, and removed the Exup cables with the installation of the slipon, so I also added a power commander to balance it all out.
The FZ1 community has a massive forum (FZ1OA), where the people have posted different "maps" for the power commander based on which mods you've performed, you simply download and upload to your bike.

I will tell you, this exhaust sounds absolutely wonderful on this bike...that deep, throaty race bike sound.

Mark E: I don't think you necessarily need to. I put mine on about the first thing I did, before I had a thousand miles total on the bike. It doesn't lack for performance - I don't hear any popping on deceleration, and there aren't any flat spots when you roll the power on. Even in 6th gear, just a twist of the throttle will result in a strong and steady increase in speed from 60 or 70 mph to 100+ in what seems like the blink of an eye. I would fully recommend the Two Brothers M2 Vale Slip on to anyone. The carbon fiber model looks tight on the bike. Nov 10, 2013
