Shoei RJ Platinum-R Helmet
real good helmet
went from A Bell with built in sena to the Shoei. got the mounting bracket to put the sena to the Shoei. Volume increased greatly. Had problems hearing with the Bell. xxl Bell was on the tight side. XL in Shoei was perfect and comfortable. I love this helmet!

Nicely built but bulky
I have this helmet for a couple of months now. Decided to get it an upgrade to my half helmet and get more ear protection while riding in a colder weather and on the long distance.
The helmet is very well built. No doubts about quality of the construction and materials. The comfort of the helmet is great. I have an oval shape head and it fit's me perfectly. Matter of fact, while I had to get my other helmet in XXL size to fit me right, I'm very comfortable in size L in this helmet. Keep in mind however, that it has a fairly large shell. It is much larger in overall size than amy half helmet.
The visor on this helmet is not helping me either. I have a windshield on a bike that is properly set up to end right below my eye level. The wind that is coming over the windowsill is getting caught in the visor and is trying to push your head back or sideways. Not such a great design idea. I'm gonna take the visor away, but it will impact the look of it.
The noise protection is somewhat interesting. I have Rush pipes that are modestly loud. They sound way muffed trough the helmet. To the extend that the sound is not exiting anymore. That may be a feature of good noise cancellation. However, helmet adds some whispering wind noise on top of it that I totally did not expect.
To conclude. Would I return the helmet? No. I'm going to use it as it does the job on most parts.
Will I by it again? Most likely no. I would be looking for something of a smaller form factor and with more exiting design.

very nice helmet.
Riding without a helmet is for some folks but not for me. A good helmet will save your life. I know that from experience.
I have had all types of helmets over the years but I have aged to a more full helmet that seems to fit the bill. This Shoei helmet fits well, provides coverage over the ears and good ventilation for hot Florida days.
I think I am going to like it for a good while..

Nice open face helmet for the non-racer
I bought this helmet for the Quality of Shoei and the advantages of the 5 snaps.
I added an $11 flat 5 snap shield to it to keep the bugs out. This is a much better value to me than the $40-60 proprietary face shields of the full face helmets. I can afford to replace it often when it gets scratched with in\expensive face shields.
I use this helmet on my Honda Wave in Thailand where the speed limit is 90 (KPH). I can buy at every motorcycle store in Thailand a 3 snap flip up replacement shield for less than $5. At that price I can afford to replace the shield when it gets a few scratches.
I am old school at 65 years of age, and all of my first helmets were 5 snap open face models. I have only owned one Full Face Helmet and that a Shoei in Wineberry to match my 83 Honda CX-650. It was a great helmet, but is way too hot for the weather in Thailand.

Best helmet I ever owned!
This helmet was everything you guys said it would be in your video demonstration. The helmet arrived quickly and was not only beautifully packaged, but well packaged. My ride got even better with this great helmet.

Moved from Full to Open faced
wanted an open face but love the feel/fit of my, now stolen, Shoei full face and this is a great match. I don't trust bucket hats on an LA freeway, but now my vision is wider and air flow better and all the confidence of a well made helmet. I like the look of the visor and don't mind the lack of moving parts like face shields and visors. Best part is not taking glasses off to put on or off.

Helmet looks like a mushroom, hurts my jaw
I would the shell is to big in this day and age, Right of fthe bat my riding buddies said I looked like a goldwing rider :(
I rode 4 hours using this helmet came home and my left jaw bone was swollen up from the pressure the cheek pad put on my jaws.Cheek pads way to hard, should have used memory foam. It's all I can do to put the helmet over the top of my head, the bottom is too small but the crown fits perfect. I bent my subscription sunshades pulling the helmet over my ears, Have to place it on my head then put my glasses on.
I did like the air vents in the top of the helmet.
This helmet was my second choice, the Bell I wanted was out of stock.
