Build quality is not as good as it appears

By Mauricio on November 22, 2009
Sizing:
Fits 1 size larger
Pros:
Comfortable, Good visor, and Great venting
Cons:
Flimsy and Parts break
Comments:

I've owned this helmet for a few months and about 6500 miles.

Build quality appears to be very good at first. However, the padding seems to keep settling and "breaking-in", so it ends up fitting loose. If I were to buy another one (I wouldn't) I'd get it one size smaller because it will eventually grow to the perfect size.

The visor mechanism is only so-so, and it is fragile. Within a few hundred miles the visor will start to move up and down because the screws holding the pivoting mechanism loosen up. Be careful tightening them - they are very fragile and they break more easily than screws that size ought to.

Various other pieces have come loose too. Thank God for Gorilla glue, but at this price point it is a bit ridiculous to have to resort to hillbilly fixes of this sort.

My First Shark Helmet

By Scott J. From DES MOINES, IA on June 15, 2009
Sizing:
Fits true to size
Pros:
Comfortable, Fashionable, and Rugged
Cons:
Comments:

I measured my head, and ordered the size according to the chart for Shark Helmets. They do fit nice and snug, maybe more so then people may have had from their previous helmet. After approximately 500 miles on the helmet now it seems just perfect for my head. I always wear ear plugs when I ride; however, this is one seriously quiet helmet. Even coming from my 5 year old Shuberth S1, this is one quiet helmet indeed.
